Unbound (The Wild Ride)
((25))
A week passed by quickly.
I couldn't have been happier that Brian made it to my graduation.
But him and the guys took a 2:30 am flight out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania so they could make it to my graduation on time.
I had a couple hours with Brian before he had to leave again.
It was a sad departure to say the least.
I had gotten a job at a local real estate agency.
I was the new receptionist/assistant.
I made coffee and lunch runs.
I scheduled appointments and set up meets between the clients and the agents.
It was a pretty good job.
Nice office, good area, really good paycheck.
I was really lucky to get this job.
I was currently sitting at my desk in the main lobby when my phone rang.
"Jackson Cares Real Estate Agency, this is Cynthia how may I help you?" I said in a polite voice.
"You sound sexy over the phone." A deep voice said over the line.
"May I ask who's calling?" I said, trying to keep the venom out of my voice.
"You don't recognize my voice. That hurts baby." He said with a chuckle.
"Tyler?!" I exclaimed, finally realizing who it was that was calling me.
"How you doing babe?" Tyler asked.
Just by the tone of his voice I could tell that he was smirking.
"How the hell did you find out where I work?" I asked in a hard voice.
"Well, you know. I know people." He told me.
"Yeah. I know people too. So if you know what's best for you, you'll hang up the phone and never call me again." I told him.
"That's not gonna happen Cynthia. I love you. You know that." Tyler told me softly.
"You do not love me, Tyler. It's time you moved on. I most definitely have. Don't call me again." I told him firmly before slamming the phone back into it's cradle.
I sat fuming at my desk before I heard a throat clear behind me.
I turned quickly and saw Mr. Jeffery Jackson looking at me from the corner of the room.
"Who was that Cynthia?" He asked me.
"Wrong number sir." I told him quickly.
"If there's anyone giving you some sort of trouble. You just let me know." He told me in a soft voice.
"I appreciate it sir. But everything fine." I told him with a smile.
"None the less. The offer is still out there. Any time. You just let me know." Mr. Jackson said.
I nodded and smiled as he walked back to his office.
I continued my work as the hours passed on.
Tyler called three more times.
His calls got more and more perverted as time passed.
'What the hell am I going to do about him?' I thought to myself.
I was on my way home when my cell rang.
I didn't recognize the number and I instantly knew it would be Tyler.
"What?!" I yelled loudly.
"Geez. What did I do to piss you off?" Brian asked in a shocked voice.
"Brian?!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah, who did you expect it to be?" He asked me.
"Nobody. Sorry. I'm just tired." I told Brian in a soft voice.
"I'm sorry baby. How's work going?" Brian asked.
"Good. Mr. Jackson is a great boss and the pay is not bad at all." I told him.
"That's great to hear Cynthia. Anything interesting happen today?" He asked me, letting out a loud yawn.
I thought back to Tyler and his perverted phone calls.
"No, nothing special." I lied.
I couldn't tell Brian about Tyler.
He would drive himself crazy with worry and try to come home early.
"That's great news Cynthia. I'm glad everything is going okay. I worry about you so much when I'm gone." Brian told me.
"You have nothing to worry about Brian. You just focus on the tour and come back to me soon." I told Brian.
"I love you." Brian murmured.
"I love you too honey." I told him softly.
"You take care of yourself. I'm thinking of you always." He told me.
"Me too babe. Be careful." I told him before hanging up.
I stared down at my phone, feeling awful for lying to Brian.
I knew it was wrong to lie to him.
I would want to know if something was going on with Brian.
And I hope he would tell me.
But this is Tyler we're talking about.
There's nothing he can do to hurt me.
At least that's what I keep telling myself.
