I Can't Imagine Being Anywhere Else but Here

Jenna had decided to leave us alone. She sat with her friends and we could hear her loudly talking about the dance. So now everyone was talking about the dance which was now a week away. Madison had decided to come over my house and look through different catalogs my mom brought home.

“Ugh! Dress shopping is hard!” Madz said falling back on my bed.

“My mom said it shouldn’t be this hard!” I say slamming another catalog to the floor.

“Why can’t we just go to Hot Topic?” Madz asked rumbling.

“Because my mom said we have to look pretty, not punk.” I say leaning back.

“Ugh this is going to suck!” She said. “We have to wear something pink and it can’t be from hot topic! Next thing you’re going to tell me is that I can’t go with Justin!”

My head snaps over into her direction.
“Justin asked you to the dance?” I ask.

“Yeah…hasn’t Kellin asked you yet?” Madz asks sitting up.

“No….not ye--” I say then my phone cuts me off. I hold up a finger and answer.

R: “Hello.”
K: “Hey Ray.”
R: “Hey Kel.”
K: “Are you going to be busy next Friday?”
R: “I was trying to go to the dance.” I bit my lip.
K: “So was I, but you wanna know what would make that dance better?”
R: “Um...what?”
K: “If you were my date.” I keep myself from smiling.
R: “I would be glad to.”
K: “Cool, so I’ll see you Monday.”
R: “Yep.”

We hung up and I went crazy. Madison was staring at me and raising an eyebrow.

“So I’m gonna take a shot in the dark and say that was Kellin.”

“Yep!”

“And he asked you out to the dance?”

“Uh-huh!”

“And you have yet to find a dress.”

“Shit. We’re screwed.” I say running my hand through my hair.

“Well while you were on the phone blushing, I found some dresses.” Madz said holding up the catalog for me to see.

“But that has black in them…” I say unsure.

“They didn’t say we had to wear all pink.” She said.

“Madz, you are a genius.” I say looking over the outfits.

“I try.” She said shrugging. I give her a high five and we order our dresses/
