Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am

Remembering Cody

The next morning Ferin rolled over and found herself face to face with Bam, who coincidentally was still sound asleep. Realizing that the previous night's actions, were not in fact a dream she sighed and buried her head in the pillow beside him.

"What's wrong?"

She lifted her head and narrowed her eyes at him. "You were awake weren't you?"

Good thing she hadn't said anything outloud.

He smiled. "Yeah." He rolled onto his side pulling her towards him. "Jesus," he growled when the sheets bunched up between them. He pulled them free until he could actually feel her naked body against his.

"You don't look happy," he said nervously, searching her eyes for some hint of regret.

"No, I'm fine," she replied, breathing in his scent, not realizing that she was in fact snuggling closer to him.

He cocked an eyebrow, looking her over. "Just fine? No, Oh god Bam that was so hot, you were amazing, you made me come so many times, lets do it again right now?"

Ferin laughed and buried her head in his chest.

"So?" he prompted her, adjusting his body making her look up at him.

She couldn't help but laugh. God, the man just fished for compliments in all aspects of his life.

He raised his eye brows at her suggestively.

She smiled and traced the tattoo along his side with her fingertip. "It was very hot, you were amazing and you probably owe me a shirt."

He laughed and kissed her forehead. "I'm sure they're still there."

She looked him in the eyes before kissing him softly. "They better be."

She went to roll away to get out of bed, but his arm cicled around her waist holding her there. "Tell me about the scar."

"Excuse me?"

"The scar," he repeated softly, moving his hand underneath the blankets over her hip and rubbing his thumb against the fairly small round scar. "You didn't want me to see it last night."

She closed her eyes and breathed deeply. "It's not that I didn't want you to see them, it's that I didn't want to see them. But it's nothing, don't worry."

He shook his head, tossing his curly hair back. "If it was nothing you wouldn't have made such a big deal about it. Every scar has a story, hell, I could keep you entertained for hours with mine."

She tried to smile at his attempt to be humorus, but he'd drastically changed the mood with his request. "Some stories aren't meant to be told."

"Some need to be told," he persisted, until he noticed the tears welling up in her eyes. "Natasha told me about Cody."

She squeezed her eyes shut and rolled onto her back so she wouldn't have to look at him.

"We went out that night," she started, deciding to get right to the point. "We decided to walk home because it was so nice out. I wanted to cut through the park to get home quicker even though it was a bad time of night. So we did. When we came out on the other side, there were a few gang memebers standing on the side walk. They were fine, I mean they pretty much left us alone but we decided to walk faster anyway in the other direction. Everything after that was in slow motion."

She continued to stare up at the roof not daring to look at him yet. "I remember seeing the car screaming around the corner, before we knew it, there were two guys hanging out the windows and they just started shooting." She lowered the sheet revealing her hip and stomach. "I got hit twice, and Cody pushed me aside and he literally took a bullet for me. He always said he would."

She began crying and couldn't help but shiver as all the memories came rushing back. "It's funny the things you remember, you know, instead of all the happy stuff," she sniffled. "I remember the sounds of the screeching tires, guys yelling, the sound of guns, the smell of blood." She choked back a sob. "The sound of the sirens, and the paramedics yelling clear, and the solid beep of the flatline."

Bam pulled her closer to him, unable to do anything for her but hold her. He hated being in this position. One where there wasn't anything in the world he could do to make it better for her. He couldn't even imagine something like that.

"It was like a scene from a movie," she whispered. "I remember sitting there, holding him even though I knew he was gone. And when I woke up in the hospital I wanted it all to be a bad dream. It was so hard to go home without him. I couldn't go near our room. I slept on the couch for a month before I decided I had to move. When I finally got up the courage to pack up his stuff, that's when I found this." She twirled the small silver diamond ring around her finger on her right hand. "It was in a little black box in one of his socks in the dresser drawer. For months after that I blamed myself. If I hadn't suggested we walk home, or walk home by way of the park, we would have missed everything by at least a block, and he'd still be here."

Bam pulled her tightly against him and she cried into his chest until she finally fell asleep. Reaching for the blankets he got a good look at the scars just above her right hip on her stomach where the bullets had entered her side and exited out the back. He ever so lightly traced a finger over them, cursing under his breath. If the bullets had been an inch to the left they probably would have killed her, if they would have been an inch to the right they would have missed her completely, maybe even Cody too.

Bam awoke to a rather sharp knock at the door. Grumbling, he carefully pulled himself away from Ferin and climbed out of bed, pulling on his boxers and pants before heading to the door, opening it up to see Dunn standing there holding up his shirt and Ferin's in his hand, grinning like a fool.

"Have a good night?" he asked slyly.

Bam reached for their shirts. "Thanks." He was surprised they were both still in one piece.

"So are you and lady luck ready to go?" Dunn asked.

Bam shook his head and pulled his shirt on. "No, I just got out of bed." He ran his fingers through his hair.

"Dude, it's noon." Dunn couldn't believe it.

"So what? Where are we going that we have to go right now?"

"The limo is here," Dunn informed him. "Everyone else is waiting."

"Fuck," Bam muttered. He really didn't want to wake Ferin up, All her crying had exhausted her.

"Just get the limo to take you guys back."

Dunn looked confused. "You mean leave you two here?"

"Yeah," Bam nodded. "We'll be back later."

Dunn grinned. "Alright, have fun." He turned around and began heading down the hall way towards Melissa who was on her way towards him.

Bam closed the door and locked it before returning back to the bed, crawling in fully dressed beside Ferin, pulling her into his arms. She whimpered something before falling asleep just as quickly. It was beginning to scare him. He'd never felt this posessive over anyone before.

Around six pm that night, Ferin awoke to Bam's soft snoring, glancing at the clock she groaned. She'd really been far more worn out than she'd ever thought. And she guessed Bam was too. Laying in bed for a moment, she realized how much better she felt after sharing everything she'd kept bottled inside about the whole Cody situation. Glacing over at Bam she smiled before carefully crawling out of his arms and heading to the bathroom, showering then changing into her clean clothes.

When she emerged from the bathroom Bam was sitting up in bed talking on his cell. "Yeah, just buy for whoever wants to come and we'll meet you there."

Ferin looked at him skeptically, running a smaller towel through her hair. "Where?" she mouthed.

When he never answered she went to her bag in search of her brush and hair dryer. When her hair was dry she pulled it up into a pony tail, taking her side bangs and tucking them behind her ear. She never bothered with make-up, after all it would have to come off again in a couple hours anyway.

"Yo, you ready to go?"

She turned around to see Bam in the doorway, he flipped his phone shut and looked her over. She turned around and leaned against the counter. "I guess, where are we going?"

"California," he grinned. "I have a demo this weekend."

She smiled. After all the things they'd been through together, she'd nearly forgotten that he in fact was a professional skateboarder.

"So are we going, like, right now?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I just talked to Valelly, then phoned for tickets. Our flight leaves in a couple hours so we should get to the airport."

"But I don't have anything." Ferin gestured to the small backpack on the bed as they left the bathroom.

"I'll buy you clothes when we get there." Bam picked up her bag and slung it over his shoulder.

"Just wait," she laughed as she hurried into the bathroom, gathering up her stuff, balancing it in her arms and slipping on her shoes, taking one last glance around the room before closing the door and hurrying down the hall after Bam who was nearly already to the elevators.

"Come on woman," he urged her before pushing the down button.

"Well if you weren't such an ass." She frowned once she finally neared him. He laughed and the elevator dinged, they both stepped in and watched the doors close behind them.

"Turn around," she ordered him and he did. She stuffed all of her stuff into her bag and zipped it up so he wouldn't lose anything.

"You check us out," Bam suggested as he headed to the front door. "I'll hail a taxi. I'm famous, you're not."

Ferin rolled her eyes but headed to the front counter. When she was done, she headed outside to see Bam waiting along with a taxi.

He opened the back door for her and he climbed in behind her. "Airport."

The driver nodded and merged into traffic.
