The Past

A short story I had to write today in English Ten Honors.

Cadence Mary Howard is the oldest child of eleven, born to an emotional wreck of a Momma and a Poppa who is always busy with work. What happens when she can't forget the past, and must write her Momma's euolgy?

The past is strapped to our backs. We do not have to see it; we can always feel it. ~Mignon McLaughlin, The Neurotic's Notebook, 1960
