Damned.

15- Hevana

'Don't look at anyone Hevana, they just want to get rid of me. Are you going to let that happen to me?'

Hevana was sitting on her bed, facing the wall away from her roommate. Since she had been in this place, this strange and foreign place, her father hadn't spoken to her. This did make her worry a lot for him, but she also talked to people. Because she didn't have to worry about them trying to hurt her father, he would have told her if they were.

It was why she was talking with her roommate before, having a little joke around. But then suddenly, her father had spoken and she had grinned with joy; he was talking to her again.

But the thing that made her worried was the fact that he told her that her roommate, with the name of''Sofia', was siding with the evil people in this place. That she wanted to steal him away from her.

That was why Hevana stopped talking with her suddenly, fearful of her now. And it was also why she turned away, she didn't want to be tempted by the eyes of the girl into doing something that she didn't want. She knew that people could make you do stuff with their eyes. And that scared her, a lot.

Even when the nurse came in the room, Hevana was too caught up with her father that she didn't hear what she said. She didn't want to hear what any nurse said either, because they could convince her that she didn't need her father. And she didn't want that. She had to have her dad.

When someone shook her shoulder slightly roughly, Hevana wanted to snap at the person and lash out. But her father's words stopped her: 'Don't let them take me away from you. Because I love you Hevana, my daughter.'

“Are you listening to me Hevana? It's dinner time. You're already a minute late, don't waste any more time,” Claire, apparently the 'kind' nurse, snapped at her, a cold look in her eye. Hevana didn't like her, she could see on her face that she wanted to hurt her; hurt her dad.

That was the worst thought of all.

She stood up, careful to stay away from Claire's touch, and followed her and 'Sofia' out of the room. She made sure to stay extra away from 'Sofia' because of what her father said. She didn't think that Sofia was her real name, it didn't suit someone so evil.

The wave of smell that hit her as they entered the Cafeteria. The colours of the uniforms looked pretty; mystifying even. Especially the white one. The colour of that was just calling out to her, wishing to be back on her skin, where it belonged. It's what satisfies her father, the feel of paint hardening against her skin, the smell invading her senses.

Following slowly behind 'Sofia', they came to the food dishes. Everything looked odd to her. Looking at the plate that 'Sofia' had picked, Hevana could have sworn she cause something green there. 'She's pretending to eat poison. She's trying to trick you.' Feeling Claire nudge her harshly, to try and make her hurry up, she grabbed the plate before just adding one thing to it before hurrying away to the table furthest from 'Sofia'.

Sitting down, she bent her head down so that she didn't look into anyone's eyes. Her plate contained a single piece of chicken that she wouldn't be eating. It looked too big for her plate, and she could hear her father talking to her. Seeing as she was sitting by herself, she decided to whisper to her father.

“Daddy, I don't like it here. Why did mum make me come here? I want to be at home,” her lip trembled thinking of her mum. How could she have taken here here; everyone was against her. 'She never loved me Hevana, she wants these people to brainwash you. She wants you to forget all about me.' She couldn't help but gasp, maybe a bit too loud, at the thought of her mother wanting her to forget her father.

How could her own mother want that? How could...she?

“Are you finished now, or are you going to keep staring at your plate?” Claire's voice seeped into her ears, immediately making her father stop talking. She just nodded and picked her plate up and put her food in the bin before placing her plate where it was meant to go.

She knew she was going to have to go back to her room, where 'Sofia' would be too. She really didn't trust her now, and she wouldn't do unless her father told her she wasn't evil. That she wasn't planning on making her forget her father.

Upon getting into the room, Hevana went straight over to her bed and crawled under the quilt. This way, no matter what, she wouldn't be looking into anyone's eyes. And she couldn't be made to believe that her father wasn't real. Plus, she would be ready for bed even before Claire would come back in and tell them that it was time for them to sleep.

Hevana wasn't sleeping, she couldn't. Even though she could hear that 'Sofia' was asleep, she just couldn't sleep. She didn't want to stay in this room, and she wasn't sure whether she could or not. 'Don't listen to the rules, it's all apart of the brainwashing ways'. She shivered under her quilt before sitting up, looking around the dark room slowly.

'Come on, don't you trust your own dad?' Of course she did, she would always trust her dad. Pushing her legs out of the quilt, she stepped onto the floor slowly. Moving to her father's commands, Hevana found herself at the door. Was it locked? Would they lock them in? Or would someone be guarding the hallways? Or would they just expect them all to listen and not leave their rooms without a nurse with them.

Slowly turning the handle, Hevana opened the door, peering out. 'Just start walking, you might not be caught' Stepping out into the cool hallway, she couldn't help but glance around nervously. It seemed far more creepier in the dark, and the fact that the hallways seemed empty. It was like no one else was in the hallways.

She wasn't noting where she was going; she didn't care. She was just following what he father was saying to her. Even if she didn't want to be out here, it felt safer in her room with 'Sofia' then out here. 'Don't you trust me?' Quickly, she shook her head, whispering,“I do trust you daddy.”

Carrying on down the hallway, she turned the corner before freezing. At the end of the hallway, a nurse was heading her way. And by the way the face looked, it was obvious that she wasn't meant to be out in the hallway. “Hey! You! What are you doing?”

Her heart was pounding, the nurse was now walking quicker. 'Run back Hevana, listen to me. Run back and hide. Don't let them catch you!' And that's exactly what she did, she spun on her heel and ran back round the corner and all the way to her door before opening it and pulling it closed. She was careful not to slam it; 'Sofia' still wasn't safe. She moved quickly to her bed and crawled under the covers, making sure they covered her fully.

They had nearly got her, and they would have brainwashed her. Made her forget her father. And she would have hated that. It's why she ran. And hide. And would continue hiding all night.
