Damned.

18 - Sam.

Sam looks down at her food unable to eat it, she had this weird feeling that everybody in the room was staring at her, maybe it was because she had freaked out at the last group therapy session.

She gulps as she stands up and picks up her food tray from the table, she walks over to the trashcan and dumps her untouched dinner.

As she walks Sam stares down at her feet, she didn’t want to look up afraid she would make eye contact with somebody.

She hurries down the hallway and walks down the stairs towards the first floor, and then makes her way to Dr. Meyers office, her one on one therapy session was every Friday night after dinner.

“You’re early Samantha,” Dr. Meyers says looking at her.

“I-I finished dinner early,” Sam replies and takes a seat on the big couch.

“I guess we can start our session a bit early today,” the doctor replies as he stands up from his chair and heads over to the chair in front of the couch.

“I heard about your incident, do you want to tell me what happened?”

Sam stares at her lap and then looks up to see the doctor.

“I didn’t mean to scare anybody, I couldn’t help it,” Sam whispers.

“Samantha, tell me what happened.”

“She told me I had sold my soul to the devil, and that’s why I was here, that I was being punished, and now death was going to come for me.”

“Who told you this?”

“I tried telling her that she was wrong, I told her I was here because I had trouble containing my anger, and she wouldn’t listen.”

“Who wouldn’t listen?”

“I really tried not to hit her, but she kept telling me that death was going to come for me, that I deserved to be taken away, I told her to stop, but she wouldn’t listen and I lost control, I didn’t meant to hit her.” Sam says as her eyes water. She had really tried to stop herself, but everything she lost control it was as if she was being pulled away from her body and somebody else was acting on her behalf.

“I want to go home,” Sam cries out and wraps her arms around her body as she begins to rock back and forth.

“I’m really trying to control my anger, but my body just reacts and I can’t stop myself until it’s too late.”

Dr. Meyers stares at Sam as she begins to wipe away the tears from her eyes, for some odd reason he believed in what she was saying, he believed that Sam was really trying to get better, she had stop trying to argue with people, she tried not to speak unless she really had to, and most importantly he knew she was trying because of how defenseless she had become.

“Samantha will you please tell me who was telling you these things?”

Sam shakes her head, “I can’t,” she whispers.

“Why not?”

“I’m scared.”

“Scared of what Samantha?”

“Of her, the way she talks to me- what if death really is coming for me for all the things I’ve done?” Sam asks as her lips begin to tremble, she couldn’t remember the last time she had been this scared. This place was driving her to insanity.

“Death is not coming for you, whoever told you this is trying to mess with you, they don’t want you to get better.”

“I want to get better, I want to leave this place. I want to go back home.”

“I know you do, and you will but first you have to tell me who told you these things.”

Sam stares at the doctor, she didn’t want to tell him, but she couldn’t help but to believe him when he said she would be able to go back home.

“It was Diah.” she replies in a low voice.

Dr. Meyer knew perfectly well who Diah was, since the day she had arrived she had claimed that everybody in this facility were nothing but shadows trying to get her, and that Mr. Peeters was non other than death.

“Thank you for telling me Samantha, we’ll make sure to remove Diah from your room and put her in a more… special environment for her sickness.” Dr. Meyers smiles as he smiles at Sam.

Sam couldn’t help but to feel a weird sensation in her stomach, almost as if she had just helped the doctor do something very wrong.

“You can go now, I’ll be seeing you next Friday.”

Sam nods and stands up from the couch and quickly walks out of the office trying to make the weird feeling go away.

As she makes her way towards her room she begins to hear people screaming.

“I’m not going with you to see death!” Diah screams as two lame nurses take a hold of her.

“Oh believe me, you rather see death than go where you’re going,” one of the nurses chuckles.

“Let me go you evil shadows!” She screams trying to break lose, but she’s too small and weak.

The weird feeling inside Sam’s stomach increases and she can’t help but to feel worried and scared for Diah, she knew deep down something bad was going to happen, and she had helped.
