Status: Chapter Two coming soon! We promise. :)

Just Tonight

1. The Chance Meeting

Hayley: Hayley smiled, brushing her fingers quickly through her fiery red hair. Feeling the glance coming from a familiar set of deep brown eyes, she pecked Josh's cheek, muttering, "I'll be back soon," before heading out of the bus. With the sun shining down, her hair glowed a little more and moved in the slight breeze as she walked. Not paying attention, she checked her cell to see where her friend would be before running into a figure and falling to the ground, "Oops, sorry," Hayley muttered scratching her head.

Alex: “JACK! GET YOUR FAT ASS UP! IT’S ONE IN THE AFTERNOON!” Alex yelled at his hung over friend, still cuddling a bottle of Jack Daniels from the night before. He was already used to having to deal with his best friends’ drinking-and-cuddling habit, and had been, on more than one occasion, the victim of his cuddle urges. “Am I really fat?” asked a sullen faced Jack coming into the lounge area of their tour bus. “No, of course not, I was just in a bad mood.” Apologized Alex, though he wasn’t quite sure why he should have to in the first place. “You KNOW how sensitive I am about my body, Alex!” Whined Jack in mock heartbreak. “Dude, stop being such a girl, I wanna find some lunch.” “LUNCH?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME WE WERE HAVING LUNCH! I WOULD’VE BEEN UP HOURS AGO!” Screamed Jack as he was already off the bus and in the middle of the street, impatiently waiting for Alex to catch up. He would have, too, if he hadn’t run head first into a beautiful fiery redhead.

Hayley: A small smile grew on her lips as she saw him and flicked some hair out of her eyes. His brown hair was a mess and his eyebrows caught her attention. They reminded her of her childhood and the old Sesame Street show. Hayley stood up and brushed the dirt off of her seemingly boyish clothes, "Sorry 'bout that," she scratched the back of her head, hoping her Franklin accent didn't break through too much.

Alex: Alex couldn’t stop looking at the girl he had run into, she was so petite that she barely made it past his shoulders, but the first thing he noticed about her was her perfectly dyed hair; it was so vibrant it was hard to miss. But as he looked closer, he caught her dazzling green eyes, and couldn’t look away. At the sight of her small smile, he couldn’t help but do the same. “Sorry ‘bout that,” was all she said, but it was enough to make butterflies appear in my stomach. He was so nervous he could barely squeak out an “’S alright”, but as soon as he did, her smile grew ever so slightly. And as caught up in the moment as they both were, they didn’t notice Alex’s tall, lanky best friend walk over to them, a wide smile displayed on his lips. “Well, well, well, what do we have here?” Jack asked with a wink, slowly looking the redhead up and down.

Hayley: A hand rested on her hip at his comment and she raised an eyebrow ever so slight at the sight of him. His hair was also messed up, but his fringe ran nearly perfectly across his forehead. Hayley looked up, trying to not be intimidated by their height. She was tiny compared to them. She stood straight, trying to gain height, but her mind had forgotten his comment as she stared off into space at the figure she bumped into, "Wait, what?" She asked, snapping back into reality.

Alex: Jack was used to girls getting awestruck at the sight of his best friend, (“It’s the hair,” he decided) but this had to be the first time that Alex was actually awkward around a girl. He had to admit, he could see why, but was nonetheless impressed by what this girl had done. “Well, I wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome, I’ll just let you two get a room—I mean ‘get to know one another’,” Jack said walking away from the two with a smirk on his face. At his comment, Alex finally realized that he was nearly drooling over this girl when he didn’t even know her name. “Uhm, So.. Uhh.. My name’s Alex.” He said lamely, mentally slapping himself for not being able to come up with anything other than his name.

Hayley: Hayley looked at his friend as he walked away, knowing that his comment wouldn't happen considering she was rather happy with Josh. Besides, part of her mind was doubting he would like someone like her anyway. "Oh, uhrm, Hayley," she said, offering him her hand to shake.

Alex: Hayley, Hayley, her name kept spinning around in his head. He couldn’t believe how fast he had fallen for her, he didn’t know anything about her, “I’ll find out,” he insisted to himself. “Uhm.. Would you like to get something to eat with me? Not like a date! I mean, what I mean is.. Uhm.. I should go,” He couldn’t help but ramble, though this time he actually did hit himself in the head.

Hayley: She chuckled, looking down and kicking the dirt near her feet a little. She hadn't felt like this in years. When she looked back up, she nodded and shrugged, "Oh, I don't, uhm, well," Hayley scratched her head again, "Maybe not right now. I'm kinda meeting someone soon, but sure. Maybe we can all get something to eat after?" She suggested, hoping her friend would be fine with the plan.

Alex: “Oh.. Uh, yeah, sounds cool,” he said, trying to hide his disappointment that they wouldn’t be alone. And then his brilliance struck, “What if Jack comes with us too?” he asked, immediately perking up at the thought of a “double-date”. He was already planning how it would go; he imagined a fancy restaurant, the boys in tuxes and the girls—her especially—in beautiful dresses. “Wait, what am I thinking?! Alex Gaskarth does NOT wear a tux. Alex Gaskarth does NOT go to fancy restaurants. And he does NOT daydream about it… But he could.. If it was with her...” he thought to himself.

Hayley: Hayley nodded, "Perfect, just perfect," she smiled, thinking his friend might just be what her friend needed. Josh hadn't even crossed her mind once, she was too fascinated by the young man in front of her. "So, where do you want to meet?" She asked, smiling.

Alex: “Shit. I hadn’t thought of that.. What am I gonna do?! She’s expecting an answer! It can’t be too fancy, but I don’t want it too casual either..” He thought to himself, then quickly blurted out the first restaurant that came to mind, “What about that diner a few blocks down from here? I hear they have good cheeseburgers..?” He was so nervous to hear what she thought about the idea, that when she finally spoke, he barely noticed.

Hayley: Nodding once again, she gave a sigh of relief with a bit of a laugh, thankful he hadn't picked something where she would feel too out of place, "Okay, say, half an hour?" Hayley said, starting to slowly walk away backwards, afraid her friend was getting impatient.

Alex: “Perfect.” He said, a little too over emotional. And as she walked away, he couldn’t help but do a little dance, after all, he was going on a ‘date’ with the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life.. At least he thought it was a date.
