Time

Time

Time held no meaning to her anymore.

Her eyes searched the all too familiar room. They glanced from the cracked gray paint on the wall to the cobwebs in every dusty corner of the room.

She pulled the thin, dirty sheets over her head, waiting to be rescued. Please come, she begged silently.

But no one ever came.

The air tasted stale and time came back to her again. It was excruciating long, the darkness was about to swallow her up. Her fingernails scratched at her own skin, desperate for something to hold on to, desperate to feel something, even pain.

She closed her eyes, dreaming of the face she wished to see the next time she opened them. Let me wake up, let me escape.

She never woke up.
