This Heart Still Feels-10

"I made it through my first day of college!" Teresa screamed at the top of hr lungs. You two were just walking out of the college and across the campus. Teresa was a bit jumpy about her first day and it was getting to the point where everyone was staring at her obnoxious behavior.

"Teresa," you gritted through your teeth, "Could you cool it down a little bit?"

She let her hands drop to her side, "Come on, De. Let me have a little fun."

"Tree, I'm serious." you said seriously, "Let's wait until the third week to go and make a scene."

"Alright," she pouted, "I guess some things HAVE changed,"

"Tree," you said in frustration, "I just want people to take me seriously. I've made a good start since last year, I don't want to ruin it."

"Okay, okay," Teresa said, "You win."

"So how was your first day?"

"Horrible."

You looked at her, "Why?"

"Because you weren't in any of my classes," she pouted, pretending she was about to cry

"Oh, honey," you acted along with her. "We talked about this. Seeing that it's your first year, your still going to be left behind with the rest of the newbies. If I could I would have you transfered, but I can't."

She sniffled, "I know, but it still hurts,"

"But hey," you smiled, "Now I get to help you with homework since I've done it all."

"That's true," her face lit up, "Wow, I can't believe I'm going to college in London with my sexy best friend. Somebody pinch me! OW!"

"Sorry," you shrugged, "You asked."

"Well I didn't mean it." she said as-a-matter-of-factly, "So did you get homework?"

You sighed. "Yeah. I've got about two book reports and a paper on Shakespeare due next week,"

"Second year these teachers get tough," Teresa pointed out

"Well I can't do anything about it," you shrugged, "And don't worry. Soon you'll be loaded with just as much homework as me."

"NOOOOOOO!" Teresa screamed dramatically

"Third week, Teresa," you gritted

"Sorry,"

(FF to Friday)

"Wha'you forget?"

"Got a light"

"I know you. Your, your chivering,"

"It's nothing, they turned off my heat," You sang along with the T.V. as you went to get your popcorn "And I'm just a little weak on my feet. Would you light my candle... What are you staring at?"

"Nothing," Roger sang, "Your hair in the moonlight," you laughed at his awkwardness. Teresa had gone out on a date with Oliver and left you home alone. You were a bit scared after the phone call from Jim, but you didn't want to scare Teresa, nor ruin her night, so you stayed quiet. You had spent the evening with your homework. You were done with one book reeport and made good progress with the other and was nearly finished with your Shakespeare paper. Feeling well accomplished, you rewarded yourself by making popcorn and putting your movie "Rent" into the DVD player. You walked over to the microwave and took out the bag, shaking it before opening it up. You heard a rustle outside and turned with alert. You stood there silently for a moment. You slowly crept up to the living room window and took a peek out. You saw a red car parked outside that you hadn't seen before. You shivered from the cold wind and closed the window, "I really need to get a dog," you said to yourself. You sighed and stroked your hand through your dark brown hair before turning around and plopping down on the couch. You sat there for awhile and watched the movie, until you heard a knocking at the door. You looked up for a moment and heard the person knock again. You uncrossed your legs and slowly walked up to the door

"Who is it?" you asked

"It's me," you heard a familiar british accent, "Dan,"

You let out a sigh of relief and opened the door to greet him, "Hey Dan, come on in,"

He smiled and entered, "Sorry to come by so late,"

"That's alright."

"I was just in the neighborhood and I thought I might drop by to pick up my jacket,"

You turned to the coat hanger and pointed to his jacket, "It's over there,"

"Thanks," he said reaching for it, "so where's Teresa?"

"On a date with Oliver," you said sitting back down on the couch

"Those two have been getting awfully serious, haven't they?" Dan commented as he sat down next to you,

"Yeah, they have," you agreed. You met his eyes in an awkward moment, then turned your eyes to the T.V.

"What are you watching?"

"Rent," you answered, "Have you ever watched it?"

He shook his head, "No,"

"You should," you told him, "It's a really good movie,"

"Well I don't have to be anywhere right now," Dan shrugged, "So maybe I'll watch some right now," He flashed you a smile and you smiled back before turning away.

"Are you thirsty?" you asked

"Yeah, a little,"

"I've got soda in the fridge,"

"Thanks," and with that Dan got up and headed for the fridge, "You want anything?"

"No thanks," you called. He shortly returned and sat down on the couch again, a little closer than he had before. He took a sip and set it down on the coffee table and leaned back, laying his arm over the top of the couch, which was very close to your shoulder. You felt yourself shutter but kept a straight face. You two watched the movie together and you soon closed your eyes and fell asleep.
