“What song are you planning to sing?” Danielle asked.

“I was thinking about ‘Haunted’ is there a piano and a guitar I could use?.” I said. “Is there a piano I can use?”

“Yes, I am sure Nick won’t mind if you use his piano, and I’ll get a guitar from Kevin.” She replied.

“So, your Kevin’s wife?”

“Yeah.” She replied.

“Congratulations. I don’t know when you got married, but congrats anyways.” I told her. “You seem like you really love him.”

“Thank you and I do.” She smiled.

“I might have to make that into a song.” I laughed.

“Go ahead, you write beautifully.” She laughed with me.

“This is a surprise, so the boys won’t know why I am out there or why any of this is happening. Ok.” Dani –As I had taken to calling her, said.

“Ok. Got it, surprise.”

“So, I’m going to go out there and talk a bit, you won’t be able to hear it, then I will introduce you as a ‘special guest’ of mine and then the lift will raise and you can start whenever. Ok.”

“Ok.”

Dani took me to where the lift was down and a beautiful white piano was on in. “You can sit here now. The mic is on.” She said and walked away.

The guy gave me the signal he had showed me about three minutes ago that meant the platform was being raised. I took a deep breath. I could hear the screams. The screams for someone –that for all they knew could be Dani’s mom.

I took a breath for the first phrase of the song and played the first note. The crowd went crazy.

I left the piano, walking down the stairs. I looked at Dani, who was smiling and standing next to Kevin and the others.

I ended the song close to where Dani was singing. With the last note Dani came over and hugged me thanking me in my ear. I smiled and said you’re welcome. I smiled, waved and blew a kiss to the crowd then turned to walk back to the piano so I could leave the stage. Alec was already on the platform. He was gently touching the piano –crazy kid.
