A loose sweatshirt hung off her frame, advertising some program she’d been a part of when she was seventeen or eighteen and fresh out of school. Her body found itself resting against her window’s frame, her head touching the cool pane and sighing as she closed her eyes.

Crash.

Boom.

Explosions took place in the sky in the early morning, bringing her mind to consciousness further as she listened to the rain. She wondered for a moment about going to find her cell phone with that boychild’s number programmed into it, even though she knew it somewhere within the recesses of her mind.

Something wanted her to call him, urging her wordlessly with a snarky tone. She trembled, pressing her face harder against the glass as if that might make the decision for her.

She sighed, shaking her head silently as lighting throbbed across the sky.
