The Crosby Life

The NHL Awards

After I dropped Marc-Andre off at the airport, I went dress hunting. It actually didn’t take too long to find the perfect dress. I sent a picture to Marc. He was already home by the time I bought the dress, so he replied quickly saying it was beautiful.
I was happy.
Sidney, Jenna, and I were on the plane to Vegas the night before the awards. It was going to be a long flight, and we were going to have to land in Chicago and take another plane to Vegas. I hate flights where you have to change planes.
We landed in Las Vegas at a decent time for them, but for us Nova Scotians, it was late and I was exhausted.
As I checked my phone after we landed, I groaned. Jordan decided to change the color of his tie in order to match his suit. Oh well, I guess it isn’t that bad. The dress is still beautiful no matter what.
A limo picked us up and we headed to the Palms Hotel. Jordan met us at the door to take us to our rooms. Him and Sidney were in one, while Jenna and I were in the room connecting to it.
“Thank you so much for coming, Sierra.” Jordan said as he walked next to me, his blue eyes revealing how grateful he was. “And I’m really sorry that I sort of ruined your week with Flower…”
I shrugged and smiled at him. “Don’t worry about it, Jordan. I’m happy to come. I haven’t been to the Awards since my rookie year. I’m excited to be back. Plus, it gives Marc some time along with his fami~”
Jordan cut me off and suddenly my left hand was practically in his face. “He proposed to you!” Jordan squealed, if that is even possible for him.
I laughed as he pulled me into a hug. Sidney and Jenna were laughing too. “Yes, yes. He proposed a few nights ago.”
“That’s awesome! You know, people are going to notice it tomorrow night.”
“I know.” I stated. “I’m not afraid to for them to know. Why would I be?”
Jordan shrugged and opened the two rooms with the key card. “I’m not sure. But it really is about time.”
I shot him a look. “I’m getting tired of hearing that.” The three people around me started to die laughing. I didn’t see how it was so funny, but, whatever floats their boats.
Jenna kissed Sidney and I walked into the hotel room, waving. “Goodnight, boys.” I said, throwing my bag next to one of the beds.
“Goodnight.” Sidney and Jordan said together, and Jenna closed and locked the door behind her.
“I’m ready to pass out.” Jenna chuckled as she pulled out her dress to hang up so it doesn’t get wrinkled.
I did the same thing. “Me too.” I replied with a yawn and sent Marc-Andre a quick goodnight text before crawling into bed, with my clothes on.
Jenna decided to get into her pajamas, unlike me, as she laughed at me.
“Hey, I’m too lazy to get changed.” I joked, snuggling under the fluffy covers.
Jenna laughed again and she climbed into her bed. “I’m excited for tomorrow. This is my first time going! What’s it like?”
I thought about how it was five years ago. “The red carpet is fun. A lot of fans shout the names of the players and they will sign autographs for them. The couples pose for picture and such. You’ll have fun.” I yawned again.
“Cool.” Jenna said softly. “Goodnight, Erra.”
“Night.” We were asleep before we finished our sentences.

It was hectic to get ready for the NHL Awards.
Jenna and I took turns showering and Jenna was doing her hair and me my makeup when a knock came from the door. I looked at the time as I answered it. We had about an hour until the limo arrived.
I opened the door and Jordan walked through, fiddling with his tie. “Help, please.” He said, his eyes pleading.
I sighed and did his tie for him. “We aren’t ready. Do fix your hair; it’s sticking up all over the place.”
Jordan laughed. “Yes, mum.” He said jokingly and I shot him a look before he left.
Jenna grabbed her dress and changed into it while I made sure she didn’t mess up her hair. She straightened it and had an adorable clip in it that sparkled in the light.
As she finished putting the dress on, she looked in the mirror. Her dress was a beautiful leaf green on top and then it turned into a beautiful blue on the bottom, but it had a sort of pattern to it as well. To indicate the empire waist, a silver, fancy band goes around and it really accents her body as it comes down past her mid-thigh. “It looks great on you.” I said with a grin.
Jenna returned my smile and began putting on her light makeup. We were swapped in our habits. “Thanks. I can’t wait to see your dress on you. Hurry up and put it on!”
A laugh escaped me and I grabbed my dress to slip into it. I loved the dress. It was a very light, but very beautiful fabric and it was a very beautiful purple with a beautiful design on the skirt of it. It also had a purple studded belt to accent the empire waist on it, just like Jenna’s dress. It hung just above my knees.
Jenna whistled when I walked into the bathroom to fix my hair. “Holy shit girl, Flower would faint if he saw you in that.”
I laughed and brushed my hair, letting my curls loosen to they looked more elegant. “Thank you. I’m going to send him a picture so he sees before anyone else. Do you mind taking it?”
“Of course not, Sierra. Give me your phone.” I did as she asked and she snapped a picture. “Those earrings match so well.”
I sent the picture to Marc-Andre, even though I knew he would be watching. “Thank you. Your necklace has the exact same colours as the dress.” We grinned at each other.
“Hurry up, girls! The limo will be here soon!” Sidney’s voice called from outside our door.
“We’re coming!” I shouted back, putting on my silver heels that had little diamonds on the strap that matched my earrings and even my locket.
I opened the door and Jordan and Sidney’s eyebrows shot up. I couldn’t help but snicker at them as I put my phone in the little purple purse I had. “Stop gawking boys.” I said and they snapped out of it.
Jenna laughed as she walked out of the room and latched onto Sidney’s arm. “You look absolutely beautiful.” He muttered in her ear as they began to walk to the elevator.
Jordan offered his arm and I took it, and we walked behind them. “Has Flower seen you in that?” He asked quietly.
“I just sent him a picture.” I said with a soft smile. I missed my Marc-Andre already.
The boys looked fantastic as well, in their adorable suits. They looked so sophisticated. I almost figured that I didn’t know them because of this.
The limo had arrived by the time we got downstairs, so the four of us piled into it. We laughed and joked about the awards.
The limo stopped at the red carpet, and I could hear the shouts of people before the door was even opened. Sidney got out first, and the chant of his name started up… loudly. He helped Jenna out and I swear I heard a couple whistles. Sid would not like that too much.
Jordan slid out after Jenna was helped, and his name was called as well. He offered his hand to me and I took it softly and he helped me out of the limo, and Crosby was the chant once again.
Sidney and Jenna walked ahead of us, and Jordan signed a few autographs. I stayed where I was, because this was not my night, it was the nominees.
“Sierra!” A fan called, and I turned to face them. “A picture with us, please? You look God damn fantastic tonight!”
I laughed and walked over at the camera was given to someone to take. “Thank you,” I replied with a smile as the picture was taken. “Enjoy the Awards. I hope you plan on supporting my teammates.”
The fans around me laughed and I made my way back to Jordan’s side. We posed for a picture when asked of it, and the Awards media met us at the end before heading inside of the hotel for the ceremony.
“Jordan Staal, it has been quite noticed that you have brought your teammate to the awards. What brought on this decision?”
I chuckled at that. It was as if I actually wasn’t here, the way the girl talked. Jordan laughed as well as he answered. “Well, my original date got food poisoning the night before we left to get here, so I asked Sierra to come with me instead since a seat was already reserved. I wanted to bring her along because she’s like my older sister. She’ll keep me well behaved.” He gave a goofy grin and I laughed and elbowed him in his side.
The reporter turned to me and smiled. “Miss. Crosby, you look absolutely stunning. I bet your boyfriend is sitting at home wishing he could take Jordan’s place.”
I smiled sweetly, knowing Marc-Andre was watching. “Thank you. And I’m sure he is. I’ll just have to find another excuse to wear it for him.” I said, and that got chuckled out of the reporter and Jordan.
“Well, we hope that you do well tonight in your award, Jordan. It was nice chatting with you.” The reporter said and we nodded our goodbyes before heading inside to meet up with my brother and best friend.
“That was interesting.” Jordan whispered in my ear as he leaned into me.
I decided to crack a joke. “What? Me being stunning or interesting? I’m still female; I can still look good off ice.”
Jordan laughed. “Sierra! That was so not what I was going to say and you know it.” I chuckled as we walked over to a table where Sidney was standing. “And you are stunning. Didn’t I say that already?”
“You flatter me.” I said as we reached my brother.
“Ready to go?” Sidney asked Jordan.
Judging by the way Jordan could not stand still, I could tell he was nervous. Plus he was squishing my arm against his side. I wasn’t going to say anything until it hurt, and I’m a lot stronger than I appear. “Yeah. I’m trying not to get my hopes up.”
Sidney smiled. “Relax. You’re only 21. You will probably end up here again someday.”
Jenna wrapped her arm around Sidney’s waist. “We should probably get to our seats, my lovely hockey players. It’s going to begin soon.”
I looked at the time on my phone and nodded. “She’s right. It starts in about 20 minutes.”
The boys nodded and Jenna and I smiled at each other as they began to lead us inside to take our seats. I couldn’t help but wish Marc-Andre was here with me, and I was attached to his arm and not Jordan’s. I love Jordan, don’t get me wrong, but he is not my love, not my Fiancée, not my Marc-Andre.
