Lima Loser - Part Two.

TWENTY-FIVE;

“Afternoon, people!” Mr. Schuester quickly walked into the music room. “Today is the last day for the 80’s assignment, so we’d better get crackin’.”

“I have a question,” Rachel raised her hand, and then asked anyway. “What are we doing next?”

“Well,” Mr. Schue began. “I was thinking that since tomorrow is Friday and Halloween is this weekend, we could throw a Halloween party tomorrow in Glee rehearsal.”

“A Halloween party?” Finn repeated.

“Yeah. I’ll order some pizza, and we’ll spend the whole afternoon having fun and taking a break for all of our hard work,” Mr. Schue smiled. “You guys really deserve it. You’re all amazing.”

“Wouldn’t be able to do it without you, Mr. Schue,” I spoke up.

“Well, thank you,” he put a hand to his heart. “That means a lot. Now, without further ado, let’s finish up with the 80’s!”

“I’ll volunteer myself to go first,” Rachel automatically stood up. “Santana and I have worked very hard on this, and I want everyone to see it immediately.”

“Speak for yourself,” Santana rolled her eyes as she also stood up.

They both walked to the front of the room. Rachel sang the “doh-ray-me-fah-so-lah-ti-doh” scale about five times before she smiled over at the band, who began to play a slow 80’s tune. Why did I have a feeling Rachel would sing something like this? So predictable.

Rachel: “Watching every motion,
in my foolish lover's game.
On this endless ocean,
finally lovers know no shame.
Turning and returning,
To some secret place inside.
Watching in slow motion,
as you turn around and say…”

“Take my breath awaaaay.
Take my breath awaaaaaaay.”

“Watching, I keep waiting…
Still anticipating love.
Never hesitating,
to become the fated ones.
Turning and returning,
To some secret place to find.
Watching in slow motion,
as you turn to me and say…
My love…”

“Take my breath awaaaaaaay.”

Santana: “Through the hourglass I saw you.
In time you slipped away.
When the mirror crashed, I called you.
And turned to hear you say…
If only for today…
I am unafraid…”

“Take my breath away.
Take my breath away.”

Rachel: “Watching every motion,
in this foolish lover's game.
Haunted by the notion,
Somewhere there's a love in flames.
Turning and returning,
to some secret place inside.
Watching in slow motion,
As you turn my way, and say…”

Rachel and Santana: “Take my breath awaaaaay.
Take my breath awaaaaaaaay.”

Rachel’s eyes finally opened for the first time during that whole performance, and I rolled my eyes at how dramatic she tried to make it. I still clapped for her, though, because as annoying as she was, she was talented. Way talented.

Santana’s voice was also nice, but didn’t fit the song all that well. Plus, it didn’t help that she looked bored the entire time. I personally thought that Santana should’ve stuck with artists like Keri Hilson or Katy Perry or Nicki Minaj. That was her type of music.

“Do I even have to say anything, Rachel?” Mr. Schue gave her an exhausted look. “You too, Santana. That was beautiful.”

Both girls took a seat, and Mr. Schue called on Blaze, who smirked and made his way to the front of the room. He was acting like he was better than everyone in the room, and I couldn’t help but snort. He shot me a dirty look before throwing back on the smirk. Once Mike was up there with him, Blaze nodded to the band. “Hit it.”

The band began to play a familiar song, and as he began to walk towards me, I knew that this probably wouldn’t turn out too well.

Blaze: “The lights are on, but you're not home.
Your mind is not your own.
Your heart sweats, your body shakes.
Another kiss is what it takes.

“You can't sleep, you can't eat.
There's no doubt, you're in deep.
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe.
Another kiss is all you need!”

“Oh, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff...oh yeah.
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough.
You know you're gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to love.”

Mike: “You see the signs, but you can't read.
You're runnin' at a different speed.
You heart beats in double time.
Another kiss and you'll be mine!”

Blaze: “A one track mind.
You can't be saved.
Oblivion is all you crave.
If there's some left for you,
You don't mind if you do.”

“Oh, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff…oh yeah.
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough.
You know you're gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to love.”

“Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.
Might as well face it, you’re addicted to love.
Might as well face it, you’re addicted to love.
Might as well face it, you’re addicted to love.
Might as well face it, you’re addicted to love.”

Mike: “The lights are on, but you're not home.
Your will is not your own.
Your heart sweats and teeth grind.
Another kiss and you'll be mine!”

Blaze: “Ohh, oohh.
You like to think that you're immune to the stuff…oh yeah.
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough.
You know you're gonna have to face it,
You're addicted to love.”

Mike: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Blaze: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Mike: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Blaze: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Mike: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Blaze: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Mike: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love.”
Blaze: “Might as well face it, you're addicted to love!”

When the song ended, he spun around and threw both of his hands into the air as if to say “I’ve won”. Too bad for him, because instead of acting like Rachel would, I sat there, laughing to myself. I found it hilarious that Blaze was singing to me about being addicted to love, when he was the one trying so hard to get my attention.

Mr. Schue knew exactly what was going on, considering Blaze was practically sitting in my lap throughout the entire song. He clapped a little bit, however, and threw on a fake smile. “Uh, that was good, Blaze. You have a really nice voice. You too, Mike. And great moves.”

With the biggest smirk on his face, Blaze walked back to his seat, with Mike following behind looking a little nervous. Mr. Schue then called on Finn, who awkwardly shuffled his way to the front of the class, along with Matt.

“The song I chose is one of my favorites of all time,” Finn told the audience. “So, I hope you guys enjoy it.” He nodded to the band, who began to play a soft and slow intro. I couldn’t help but stifle a giggle when I realized what it was.

Finn: “I can feel it coming in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord.
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight?...oh, Lord…oh, Lord.”

“Well, if you told me you were drowning…
I would not lend a hand.
I've seen your face before, my friend.
But I don't know if you know who I am.”

Matt: “Well, I was there and I saw what you did.
I saw it with my own two eyes.
So, you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been.
It's all been a pack of lies!”

Finn: “And I can feel it coming in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord.
I can feel it coming in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord…oh, Lord.”

“Well, I remember!...I remember, don't worry.
How could I ever forget?
It's the first time…the last time we ever met.
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up.
No, you don't fool me.
The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows.
It's no stranger to you or me.”

“I can feel it coming in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord.
I can feel it in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord.”

Matt: “I can feel it coming in the air tonight…oh, Lord.
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life! Oh, Lord!”

Finn: “I can feel it in the air tonight…oh, Lord! Oh, Lord! Oh, Lord!
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life!…oh, Lord…oh, Lord!”

Finn and Matt: “I can feel it in the air tonight…oh, Lord!
Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life…oh, Lord!”

The song ended, and the whole rehearsal just burst into applause and laughter. Laughter because, well…Finn trying to sing a song that serious was just plain fuckin’ hilarious. But it was also pretty good, thus the applause.

“Wow, that was awesome, you guys!” Mr. Schuester clapped. “Beautiful song choice, and great voices!”

“I expected Mike Tyson to pop out of nowhere and punch one of you in the face,” I blurted, making a reference to one of the best movies of all time, The Hangover.

Everyone laughed, before Finn and Matt returned to their seats and Mr. Schue called on Artie. He wheeled up to the front of the room and grinned out into the audience while waiting on Puck, who was on his way up there, too. I couldn’t wait to see this. Puck told me himself that if I wasn’t dry humping his leg by the end of the song, I was probably a lesbian.

When the band began to play, I nearly fell to the floor. Oh, god. They were not gonna do this.

Artie: “We're no strangers to love.
You know the rules, and so do I.
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of.
You wouldn't get this from any other guy.
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling.
Gotta make you understand!”

“Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

Puck: “We've known each other for so long.
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it.
Inside we both know what's been going on.
We know the game and we're gonna play it.
And if you ask me how I'm feeling,
Don't tell me you're too blind to see!”

Artie: “Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

Puck: “Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

Quinn and Tina: “(Ooh…give you up!)”
Me and Santana: “(Ooh…give you up!)”
Rachel: “(Ooh…)”
Artie: “Never gonna give, never gonna give!”
Rachel: “(Give you up!)”
Brittany and Mercedes: “(Ooh…)”
Puck: “Never gonna give, never gonna give!”
Brittany and Mercedes: “(Give you up!)”

Artie: “We’ve known each other for so long.
Your heart’s been aching but you’re too shy to say it.
Inside we both know what’s been going on.
We know the game and we’re gonna play it.
I just wanna tell you how I’m feeling.
Gotta make you understand!”

“Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

Artie and Puck: “Never gonna give you up,
Never gonna let you down,
Never gonna run around and desert you.
Never gonna make you cry,
Never gonna say goodbye,
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you!”

So, Puck was right. I had a strong urge to have sex with him right then and there, especially after that amazing performance. I was still clapping after everyone had stopped, and Puck just stood there, grinning one of those “I’m about to get laid” grins. Of course, we both knew that I wasn’t that easy, and just because he sang a song about commitment didn’t mean that he was gonna jump down on his knees and haul out an engagement ring or anything.

Mr. Schue was still laughing. “Oh, wow. I was hoping someone would choose to do that song. Great job, Artie and Puck. That was just fantastic.”

“No, it wasn’t,” Santana argued. “That song couldn’t be any further from Puck’s real personality. I would know.”

“Oh, shut up,” I rolled my eyes. “You actually wouldn’t know because I’m pretty sure people don’t have conversations with each other when they have sex, which is all you two ever used each other for. And for the record, moaning doesn’t exactly give you an insight of his personality.”

“Bitch, don’t make me come over there,” she began to stand up, but Mr. Schuester quickly was at the rescue.

“Ladies! Please stop.”

“You’d better watch it,” Santana glared at me before sitting back down.

“Santana, stop. Just sit there. Take deep breaths. Don’t attack people,” Mr. Schue tried to calm her down.

When Puck came back to his seat, I put one of my hands on his lap. “Nice try,” I laughed. He gave me a disappointed look. “No, really. Nice try. You’re getting closer and closer to this zipper everyday.” I pointed to the zipper on my jeans.

“Yay!” The grin was back. He gave me a small kiss before Mr. Schue began to talk again.

“Alright, guys. One more performance for the 80’s assignment! Mercedes and Quinn, why don’t you come on up?”

Both girls confidently made their way up to the front of the room, and without further ado, Mercedes said to the band “Alright, let’s go”. The band began to play, and I smiled hugely when I realized what the song was. I knew Mercedes was gonna kill it, and Quinn would probably do a decent job, too.

Quinn: “Hi!”
Mercedes: “Hi! We're your Weather Girls.”
Quinn: “Ah-huh!”
Mercedes: “And have we got neeewwws for you!”
Quinn: “You better listen!”
Mercedes: “Get ready, all you lonely girls, and leave those umbrellas at home!”
Quinn: “Alright!”

Quinn: “Humidity is rising.
Barometer's getting low.
According to our sources, the street's the place to go.”

Mercedes: “‘Cause tonight for the first time!
Just about half-past ten!
For the first time in history,
It's gonna start raining men!”

Mercedes: “It's raining men! Hallelujah!”
It's raining men! Amen!
I'm gonna go out and let myself get
Absolutely soaking wet!
It's raining men! Hallelujah!
It's raining men! Every specimen!
Tall, blonde, dark and lean.
Rough and tough and strong and mean!”

Quinn: “God bless Mother Nature, she's a single woman, too.
She took from the heavens and she did what she had to do.
She taught every angel to rearrange the sky,
So that each and every woman could find her perfect guy!
Ooh, it’s raining men! Yeah!”

Quinn: “Humidity is rising…
Barometer's getting low…
According to our sources…
The street's the place to go…”

Mercedes: “‘Cause tonight for the first time!
Just about half-past ten!
For the first time in history,
It's gonna start raining men!”

Mercedes: “It's raining men! Hallelujah!
It’s raining men! Amen!
It's raining men! Hallelujah!
It's raining men! Amen!”

Mercedes and Quinn: “It's raining men! Hallelujah!
It's raining men! Amen!
It's raining men! Hallelujah!
It's raining men!”

The song ended, and the room was silent as everyone stared at Mercedes in awe.

“What?” Her eyes widened. She then turned to Mr. Schue, who also looked amazed. “Was it bad?”

“No!” we all yelled back at her.

“Wow,” Mr. Schue began. “I can’t get over how flawless that performance was. First of all, great song choice. It fit your voice perfectly, and just…wow. You hit all of the right notes at the right times, and it was just so upbeat and fun. Excellent job, Mercedes. You have one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. And you too, Quinn. Beautiful guest vocals.”

Both girls faces lit up before they high-fived each other and went back to their seats. Everyone else in the room continued to stare until Mr. Schue started to talk again.

“Well, folks! That’s it for the 80’s assignment! I hope you guys had just as much fun with it as I did! Really, we have to do this again sometime,” he said, enthusiastically. “In the meantime, we’re going to have a Halloween party after lunch tomorrow.”

“Do we have to perform anything?” Rachel asked.

“I’ve got a killer idea for the Monster Mash,” Mike said, jokingly.

“Well, it would sure make the party a lot more fun, but no, you don’t have to,” Mr. Schue replied. “If you’ve got anything fun and Halloweeny up your sleeve, though, please don’t be afraid to perform it!”

“I think this is where The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack comes in,” Puck whispered at me. I nodded and smiled heartily while taking his hand into mine.

“We’ll be having lots of food and drink, music, dancing, you name it,” Mr. Schuester continued. “You’ll regret missing it.”

The bell then rang, and as everyone began to clear out of the room, Mr. Schue yelled out behind us. “Costumes are highly recommended!”

Music:
Take My Breath Away - Berlin.
Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer.
In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins.
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley. (LOL. I had to.)
It's Raining Men - The Weather Girls. (I also couldn't resist on this one.)

Well, that's it for the 80's part! I know, I know. Bummer. But keep your eyes peeled for a few decent Halloween-y songs in the next chapter, which I'm working on now.

Also, don't forget to comment. ;)
