Must Be Dreamin'

Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution

I think Kylee has been enjoying her tour with us. She seems to be back to her old self now. That’s such a hard thing to go through for anyone let alone how close she was to her brother. The freestyle community, especially the metal mulisha, is such a tight knit group and so Kylee is constantly surrounded by other people who loved her brother and are sad as well so I knew it would be good for her to get away from that for a while.

But that world seemed to follow her when her boyfriend showed up for one of our shows. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at him. Todd is….. Well he’s Todd. I’m not quite sure how to explain him. Todd is an okay guy but I’ve never liked him and Kylee together, I don’t think they’re a good match but no one asked me so I’ll keep my mouth closed and be supportive.

Todd is a fun guy to tease. Him and I always go back and forth but I usually winbecause Todd can’t ever think of a comeback. I couldn’t help but laugh as I saw him walking up with a security guard next to him. what did you do now Todd?

“These gentleman claim to know you, but they don’t have backstage passes. Do you know them?” The security guard asked looking at me.I love having the power of turning Todd away.

I did happen to see that there were two other guys standing behind Todd and the security guard. One was a bigger guy, blue eyes and short brown hair; that one was Jimmy. I think I vaguely remember meeting him once a long time ago but the other guy I had never seen begore. The man standing next to him was a much shorter man, small framed with gorgeous caramel eyes. He had brown hair that was spiked up and he was adorable. I couldn’t help but smile at him but I quickly looked over at Jimmy as well so he didn’t think I was staring at him.

“Yeah, let them in,” I started, tuning my attention back to the security guard. “Except the hairy one,” I went on to tease Todd while loud giggles escaped me.

HEY!” Todd shot at me while sending a glare as well making Kylee and I laugh so hard. I hunched over in my laughter as Todd just groaned.

“Fine… but just because you’re my best friends boyfriend…. For reasons unknown to me,” I threw at him with a smile breaking through as I walked in the other direction to my band mates who were warming up.

I picked up my electric guitar, a Rickenbacker that looked just like John Lennon’s that was custom made for him. I smiled as I looked up at Danny and Kevin and Kev started us off. We warmed up a little more before the stage manager walked over and told us to get ready to go on.

We walked over near the stage and Jimmy, Kylee and the other guy were standing there. I think I heard his name was Josh but my mind was taken off of that when a comment came out of his mouth.

“Nu uh… chicks can’t play the guitar… especially lead,” He told Kylee while crossing his arms in front of his chest.

I couldn’t help myself, I loudly strummed my guitar making his attention turn to me. He looked over Kylee’s shoulder and his eyes grew to the size of beach balls. It was so funny, I couldn’t help but laugh as I started walking toward the stage.

When I got onstage everyone took their spots and Danny greeted the crowd, same as he always does. We started off with a fast paced number to get the crowd pumped up and I had two of my favorite solos in that song. I jumped around and played my heart out, pouring my soul into every note. I was constantly doing scissor kicks and windmills, hearing the crowd singing along always makes me more and more excited and makes my adrenaline pump.

We finished up our 12 song set and then walked off stage, the crowd yelling like crazy. this never gets old. When we made our way over to everyone else Kylee let out a squeal before pulling me into a big hug. She always does this after a show, I love it.

“Ok…that was pretty good,” The man that I think was Josh said. He had a small smile on his facethat was so cute.

“See, lil’ Wayne isn’t the only thing music has to offer,” Kylee smirked. Oh no, not a lil’ wayne fan, rap sucks! We’re a rock n’ roll band with a little bit of punk and grunge mixed in… not rap, that’s not even real music!

“Lil’ Wayne?” I shot at him with a smile teasing through. My comment made Kylee laugh and I could see she was interested to see where this would go.

“Lil’ Wayne, all day, everyday,” He cockily said to me with a huge smirk and he crossed his arms to add to it.

“The Beatles, all day, everyday,” I countered, citing my favorite band and one that was actually legitimate and amazing which is the complete opposite of lil’ wayne!

“The Beatles suck,” He countered.

“Josh, you shouldn’t have said that,” Kylee said shaking her head. This chick knows me too well…

“Why?” He asked her.

I ran over and tackled Josh to the floor. YOU DO NOT DIS THE BEATLES! I hit him in the side very lightly, not hard enough for it to hurt at all. The only thing it did was make him let out a loud chuckle.

“The Beatles are amazing,” I shot at him with a big white smile while I tried to pin down his arms since I was on top of him.

“No they’re not. Lil’ Wayne is amazing,” He laughed while he continued our wrestling match.

“Okay break it up,” Ky said after a while as she tapped us with her foot.

We stopped our wrestling and both of us laid on the floor next to each other. I looked up and saw Kylee standing with Todd on one side of her and Jimmy on the other. Todd had a drink in his hand, telling me to stay away from him. I know I’m a rockstar but I don’t drink. I hate what it does to people and I make a point of staying away from people who have alcohol in their system, it can only get you into bad thingsand Todd is bad news already.

I turned my head to Josh who was laying next to me and as we made eye contact we both burst into laughter. I’m not exactly sure why but it doesn’t take much to make me laugh. He then stood up and put his hand out for me as he pulled me up.

“Josh Grant,” He smiled while pushing his hand toward me.

“Kirsten Callahan,” I returned his smile while shaking his hand.

“And Kirstie have you met Jimmy Fitzpatrick before?” Ky asked me.

“I think so,” I grinned at him and he nodded his head at me. “And unfortunately I already know Todd,” I giggled as did Kylee.

“Oh you just crack me up,” Todd shot at me while rolling his eyes.

“Thank you, thank you,” I laughed while pretending to bow.

“Hey Kirst, we’re going to get something to eat,” Danny told me as he and Kevin walked by us. I waved at them before they left.

“So Josh are you a freestyle rider too?” I asked as the five of us took a seat on some amps that were sitting around.

“No, motocross rider,” he informed me as I nodded my head.

“He’s new to the Mulisha, about 4 months but he’s been hanging out with us for a while,” Todd told me before looking in his cup, seeing it was empty then getting up and leaving.

We kept on chatting a while and I got along with Josh really well. He was such a funny guy, I liked him. He went on talking some smack later about how girls can’t play the guitar just to get me jacked up and it worked. I ran over, got my guitar and sat back down next to him and across my Ky and Jimmy.

I wailed on the chords and played any song they would throw out at me. By the end of my little performance Josh’s mouth was hanging open.

“Still think girls can’t play lead guitar?” I smirked at him.

“Well… whatever,” He said trying to keep a straight face but a smile quickly broke through.

I have a feeling this tour wasn’t only a good thing for Kylee but for the rest of these guys as well. They all had to be sad about Jeremy but hopefully I could take their minds off of that for a while and maybe convert a rap fan to rock n’ roll too.
