Noone In Particular

Nine

The next day Amber Collins, the only girl in school who never gave up
on trying to raise any emotion from Hazel had hatched a plan. The
comotion from yesterday only fueled her more and she decided to
finally put he scheme in action. It all started when Eli passed by her
in the hallway the day after he had asked out and kissed Hazel.

"Hey, Eli right?"

"Um yeah and you're..." he dragged the sentence on for her to fill him
in.

"Amber Collins. Look I heard what happened yesterday and I just wanted
you to know if you'd ask I'd go out with you."

She's smiling like she was bestowing a great honor instead of a huge
pain
he thought to himself. Nevertheless he smiled and winked
flirtaciously.

"I might just take you up on that offer."

"I'll look forward to it."

"You do that." he mumbled to himself and walked to class.

! ! !

Lunch had approached and Eli was looking forward to it until he
spotted Ambney or whatever her name was by the door looking around.
There goes all hope he thought. He tried to turn around before he
spotted but it was too late.

"Eli!" he turned to the blonde with a smile plastered on his face.

"Come on and eat lunch with me."

"You know I'd love to but um.." But all Amber heard was 'I'd love to.'

Soon he was being pulled into the cafeteria and sat down next to the
girl who was babbling about some show where the cast was a bunch of
sun tanning idiots.

"Oh yeah." he muttered.

She pulled his head towards her and looked him in the eye for a while
then she kissed him. It wasn't anything like when he kissed Hazel, and
she didn't even kiss back. It was simple really, Eli didn't feel the
same way as he thought Amber felt about him.

Still, he kissed her back pushing his fingers into her hair. When he pulled away he looked over her shoulder and felt horrible. There was Hazel staring, her lunch
held loosely in her hands. She nodded her head in a jerky movement and
sped away.
