I felt so guilty. I had left Alex in his room crying. I wondered why, but I wasn’t going to ask. I ran downstairs to find my mom and Mr. and Mrs. Di’Angelo standing in the hall.

“What’s wrong? I’ve never heard Alex even talk properly, let alone yell.” Mrs. Di’Angelo exclaimed. She looked shocked.
“Erm…” I trailed off.
“Mary. Go upstairs and see if you can get the boy to talk to you. Now Ross. Tell me what happened.” Mr. Di’Angelo told me.
