An Unexpected Proposal

Madison’s POV

I woke up the next morning in the same clothes from last night with Patrick’s arms around me, it was a nice feeling. I couldn’t help but think about how quickly I was falling for him, I always try to guard my heart so it doesn’t get broken but I don’t feel like I have to with him. He had my trust and that was a hard thing for most people to earn. I didn’t want to move because I was afraid I would wake him so I laid there a little while longer until he started to stir. I placed my chin on his chest and looked up at him, “well hello Mr. Stump.”

He smiled down at me as he hugged me tightly, “Good morning miss Collins. Did you sleep well?”

“Yes, you made a wonderful pillow.”

“That’s what they all say.”

“Oh really?” He nodded his head and laughed a little as I tried to look offended which didn’t last for long. “I see you slept in your hat, isn’t that a little uncomfortable?”

“Oh, I didn’t even realize I was wearing it. It’s like a second skin. Get ready, let’s go get breakfast with the guys before sound check. I want you to get to know them better.”

I did as he said, I had to take a quick shower because I smelled like cigarettes and liquor from the bar last night. After that we went and got something to eat with the rest of the guys and Ashlee, it was more like lunch than breakfast by that time. Then we all headed over to sound check. Ashlee and I sat together on the side of the stage and watched them, it was like a mini concert just for us but with way better outtakes. They even let me try out the things where they pop out of the stage, that was amazing. They all laughed at me because I practically fell every time and let out a little yelp with each shot into the air.
After they finished their sound check and I finished popping out of the stage Patrick came over beside me placing his arm around my waist. “You’re like a pro on that thing, we should hire you as a stunt double”

“You know, I do what I do.” As I said it a brushed off my shoulder like I was a big deal but I couldn’t keep a straight face for long before I started laughing at myself.

“Do you want to head back to the bus and hang out until I have to go meet with cobra?”

“Yeah that sounds good.” He leaned in and kissed me lightly in front of everyone, catching me a little by surprise, before taking my hand and leading me off of the stage towards the busses.

Patrick’s POV

She was completely adorable at sound check, it’s refreshing to see someone that enjoys that kind of thing instead of being there out of obligation. The more time I spent with her the more I realized how hard I was falling for her. I enjoyed having her around, she made me laugh and we could have great conversations like we had know each other for years. Most girls like me because of who I happen to be and she seems invested in who I actually am. Madison didn’t want to hang out with me because of what I could do for her, she was genuine. Sure she was a fan but she was different, I can’t explain how I just know that she is.

The entire way back to the bus she talked about popping out of the stage, you could tell she was having a great time. We got on the bus and she suddenly changed the subject asking, “ooo, do you want to see what I got yesterday with Ashlee?” She was practically jumping with excitement and I didn’t have the heart to tell her no even though that was probably one of the last things I wanted to do.

“Sure.” I followed her to the back of the bus, she had all of her bags sitting on the side of the bed farthest from the door. I sat down on the edge of the bed as she hopped across the bed to the bags.

“Ok, so I got this.” She started pulling out clothes from different bags and laying them on the bed giving explanations or stories about different pieces. It went on like this for what felt like forever until she was done with everything except for one bag left in the corner.

“Aren’t you going to show me what’s in that bag?” I pointed out the only bag that wasn’t empty.

“Oh, um. Yeah, that’s from Ashlee.” She looked slightly uncomfortable and began to blush a little bit.

“Ok, well aren’t you going to show me what it is?” Now it was starting to get fun. I laughed a little bit as she turned red rather than pink now.

When she saw me trying to hold in my laughter she decided to get smart with me. “I don’t know if you will EVER see what is in that bag.” She crossed her arms and gave me a defiant look.

“Is that so?”

“Ye-” As she answered I started to lunge across the bed towards the bag and she came after me. “No, Patrick!” She couldn’t help but laugh as she jumped on my back to slow me down. I managed to get the bag in my hand with her on my back grabbing at my arms but she knocked it across the bus towards the hall before I could get away with it.
We wrestled on the bed for a little bit laughing and playfully yelling at each other. I managed to get her off of my back and onto the bed. Once I got on top of her I held her down and started to tickle her and she laughed hysterically and started to scream a little bit. “PATRICK! I’m…really…ticklish!” She was laughing so hard she could barely get the sentence out which made me laugh even harder. “PATRICK!”

“WHOA guys, we gotta come up with a sign or something!”Andy managed to walk in just as she was screaming out my name and immediately started to turn around probably hopping to avoid what he thought was happening.

We stopped and looked up to see Andy starting to walk back out of the front lounge. “Wait, Andy! We weren’t doing anything!” He stopped and looked towards the back cautiously, once he saw we were decent he came back. I took advantage of her lapse in attention to the bag and grabbed it before she could get to me. I looked into the bag and realized what it was. Since Andy was there I didn’t pull anything out I just looked up at Madison with a raised eyebrow while I thought to myself “thank you Ashlee.”
