The Betrayal

The Fifth

To say the least, the day at Johnny’s was not what I expected. First of all, the shiny silver car that picked us up was not driven by a one-eyed British war veteran. Secondly, we had to drive 20 miles to get to his house, not 40 like all the kids at school claimed. Thirdly, the cornfield behind his house was much larger than I had heard and there were some pretty nasty rumors about that spot to begin with. Lastly, everything was just so utterly normal; Johnny inspired adjectives like ‘marvelous’ and ‘spectacular’ and stirred up my want for greatness. His home didn’t fit these feelings.

Still, things only started to get weird when his parents came home.
