Escape This Afterlife

Kitty

"Do you wanna meet Alice, Winter and Vladimir now?" I asked Hayden excitedly after breakfast the next morning. He smiled and nodded. "sure. I'll go shower since you took one earlier."

There wasn't a bathroom in every room here like in my house, so communal bathroom it is. Some of the rooms have their own, so it's not like fifty people are sharing one bathroom. That would suck.

I watched as Hayden left to go shower but after a few minutes, I got bored. Waiting isn't one of my strong points, if you’re stupid enough not to notice that by now. I skipped down the hall to Xuri and Otto's room, listening at the door for a moment. I sure as hell don't wanna walk in on the neko I shared a womb with. My eyes have already been burned once. I'd like that not to happen again, thank you. "Hi!" I yelled, jumping into Otto's lap. He looked at me, and got that look on his face that's his version of a smile.

He ruffled my hair as I picked up Xuri's ball of string, unwinding a small piece and rewinding it. "what have you been up to?" Xuri asked as he sat down next to us. I shrugged, blushing lightly. Xuri smirked knowingly and kissed my for head. I wrinkled my nose and grabbed Otto's tail when it swished around, playing with the fur as they talked about what ever. "the shower stopped about ten minutes ago, honey. Hayden is probably wondering where you are." I nodded and skipped back to our room, unsuccessfully trying to stop myself before hitting the door with my face.

If you ever feel the need to knock on a door with your face, don't. It hurts. After shaking my head and rubbing my poor nose (I swear it a miracle I haven't broken it) I tried to turn the knob. It made the noise locked doors do as I turned it back and forth. I frowned and nocked, this time with my hand. The other side was silent, no words like 'just a minute’ said from the other side.

I turned the knob a few more times, hoping Hayden would hurry and unlock the door. "H-Hayden?!" I murmured worriedly. After more banging on the door, I pressed my ear to it. Yup, my amazing cat hearing can hear someone. Quiet breathing with that little gasping sound people make after crying.

Shit. I bet I did something wrong, otherwise Hayden wouldn't have locked himself in our his room.

Tears slowly trickled down my face as my bottom lip trembled. "Hayden! Let me in?" I shouted, my voice cracking and changing to a whisper half way through, "p-please?" what did I do? "H-Hayden, please unlock the door!" I cried, becoming desperate to figure out what I did to make him angry or sad. I've never seen Hayden cry.

I banged on the door and screamed for him a few more minutes before giving up. Slowly sliding down the door, I brought my knees up to my chest and let big, salty tears slide down my cheeks. "I-I l-love you." I whispered.
Then someone picked me up and cradled me to their chest. I threw my arms around their neck as they let me ruin their shirt. "shhhhh... It'll be OK lovey." I continued sobbing into their shoulder as they carried me up another flight of stairs and to their room. I was laid down on a soft bed and tucked under the covers.
