“I come bearing gifts… well a gift” Matt said, walking into the living room.
“Shh! Aiden’s sleeping! What’s your gift?” I spoke very softly. Aiden had been fussing all morning and I had just gotten him to go down for a nap.
“Matt stole your iPod and loaded our new CD onto it… and there’s a song you need to hear!” Brian said and Matt handed me my iPod.
“Um, okay.” I said and put my ear buds in, “what’s the song called?”
“Seize the Day” Jimmy smiled from the couch. I turned and smiled at him and plopped down next to him on the couch. He pulled one of my ear buds out and whispered in my ear. “Zack wrote it.”
I smiled and put the ear bud back in. I scrolled to “Seize the Day” and hit play.

“Hey guys! I want you to meet someone! Matt, Brian, Jimmy, Johnny, Stacie, Val, Sam, this is my new girlfriend, Gena. G, this is the band and the girls!” Zack smiled and my stomach ached. Did he say new girlfriend?
“It’s nice to meet you guys!” Gena smiled. Her smile was so fake! Just like the rest of her. She was stick thin, bleach blonde, and her voice was like daggers in my head. I hated her. I had just met her… and I already hated her. I noticed Zack’s eyes on me, so I smiled.
“Sammy, where’s Aiden?”
“Sleeping… and it would be really, really great if you didn’t wake him up!”
“Oh, okay…” Zack smiled at me and then turned to Gena, “You’ll have to meet my son some other time then”
She just smiled and then, and I almost couldn’t believe it, she glared at me.
“Ha!” I thought, “She must realize I’m Zack’s ex!”
I glared back, then got up and walked upstairs.
“I’ll go…” I heard Val say and the next thing I knew my bedroom door opened. “What’s wrong?”
“I hate her! I’ve known her for like, three minutes, and I already fucking hate her!” I said, loud enough for only Val to hear.
“Does this automatic hatred of Zack’s new girlfriend have anything to do with the fact that she’s his new girlfriend?” Val asked, with one eyebrow raised.
“N-No!” I shot.
“Samantha Marie!” Val said. She was on to me.
“Valary Renee!” I replied.
“I’m only going to ask you this once… and I want you to tell me the fucking truth!” Val said forcefully.

“Are you still in love with Zack?” Val asked, gently.
