Curse of the Imprint

Conflict

[Jacob's POV]

Once Jacob heard her sweet voice, he couldn't help but instantly get excited. He knew it was worth it by going to Bella's house and telling her about their trip earlier that day, knowing in fact Bella will help hin out some way. Thanks to a good friend, his lovely vampire now has his number.
Although both still skeptical that the love that they might share, it was clear that beneath it all there is some feelings.
Jacob and Skarlett talked on the phone for a while. In reality Jacob wanted her to be there with him, talking in person, but he knew that she can't cross the border without him. As much as he wanted to bring her past the border, Jacob had to resist the urge because the pack won't be too happy about it.
Sam and the others have eased up about his situation, but they still had rules and Jacob has no other choice but to follow. Before the end of their phone conversation, Jacob got all his guts together and asked Skarlett if she would be his date to Bella and Edward's wedding which is three weeks away. Although hesitant, Skarlett accepted.

It has now been two days and Jacob still held the smile that has not left his face ever since their first phone conversation.

"Someone has got it bad." someone's voice echoed, interuppting Jacob's thoughts. Looking up, he gave a glare at one of his best friends, Quil.
At the moment, the whole pack is at Sam and Emily's house, discussing some news.
"Shut up." Jacob said, knowing very well that he had no smart remark to give.
"You two, quit it and focus." Sam said with a stern voice. Immediately they stopped glaring at eachother, and turned to Sam.
"I picked up a scent of some new comers, about a quarter mile headed towards Forks. It seemed to be about four maybe five of them." Sam said, looking at his pups seriously.
"What do you suppose they are doing here?" Paul asked, not really caring.
"If I knew I would have said so already." Sam responded making Paul roll his eyes.
"You think the Cullens have anything to do with it?" Embry asked.
As soon as he mentioned the vampires, Jacob felt as if the whole room was staring at him.
"I haven't heard anything about it." Jacob said immediately in his defense.
It was weird for him, the way his friends treated him. Just because he has imprinted on a vampire, they automatically assume that Jacob knows everything that involves them.
To be honest it was beginning to really annoy him, it felt as if his friends were making fun of his, just because in the end they know he will fall in love with their enemy. Imagine feeling something for someone and all your friends who are practically family got on your case every day about it,as if inside they are laughing at you, or worse as if they feel sorry for you.
"You sure your lover didn't mention anything about some new family members comin to visit?" Leah asked bitterly, making the others laugh, everyone except Sam of course. Jacob bit his tongue and turned away, trying his best to ignore them all.
"Enough! This is serious." Sam said glaring at all of them.
"Tonight we are going to split up and patrol the border, beginning from where I picked up the scent. I want to make sure who ever left La Push isn't planning on coming back." Sam continued before looking at each of them.
"What time do you think we will be done?" Jacob asked, knowing deep down he did not want to miss a certain phone call.
As if reading his mind, Paul said, "Aww someone doesn't want to miss it when his darling blood sucker calls."
Getting angry Jacob got up, flipping the table that they all surrounded over, crashing into the ground.
Laughing Paul said, "Fiesty! To be honest she seems like she doesn't like it rou..."
Not letting him finish, Jacob punched Paul making him meet the table that was resting on the floor. Immediately Paul stood up, eyeing Jacob angrily.
"Enough of this you two!" Sam interrupted, making sure to control them, not wanting them to fight and ruin his home. The others sat quietly, inside they were all hoping something to unravel.
"Defending your lover?!" Paul asked, giving Jacob a push.
"I suggest you keep your mouth shut!" Jacob responded, in turn pushing Paul back harder.
"I said enough!" Sam yelled.
Paul and Jacob stood an inch away from eachother, growling at one another.
"Better decide what side you're on Black." Paul growled furiously. Having enough of it, Jacob walked passed Paul, giving him another push in the process.

A while before he left to meet the others to join them in patrolling the border, Jacob sat on his bed with his head in his hands.
Suddenly the phone rang. Knowing very well who it was that is calling, Jacob looked at the phone sadly, before turning away, ignoring it. The fight from earlier is still in his head, and unfortunately he is taking it out on the innocent girl that is waiting patiently on the other line. Seconds later it stopped ringing. Gripping his bed sheet and looking at the clock, Jacob stood up and walked out of his room, ignoring the phone as it continued to ring once again.

For the next five days nothing has changed. At the exact same time, every night the phone will ring and Jacob would get up and leave to patrol the border, hearing nothing but the sound of the phone ringing fade away. That night though before he left he answered the phone not saying anything.
"Jake?"
"Stop calling me." he said and before he could hear her beautiful voice reply, he hung up and left the house, even more angry and bitter then before.
Once he reached his destination, with Seth and Embry already waiting for him, he looked at them angrily. Jacob has not said anything ever since the argument back at Sam's a few days ago. The others have already started patrolling thier sides of the border. As soon as he reached them, all three of them transformed into their wolf forms. With a grunt Jacob walked away with Seth and Embry following behind. An hour later all of them continued to look around.
Their side of the border held no threats, and the scent Sam picked up was beginning to fade away. Whoever passed by did not seem to be returning, but the pack decided not to risk it. Because Jacob has been ignoring Skarlett's calls, the pack had no clue if the Cullens have met up with the vampires that crossed their territory, leaving them no choice but to continue their patrol every night.
As soon as Sam called it a night, Jacob returned to his human form and headed back home.
"Hey Jake!"
Turning around he saw Seth running to catch up to him.
"You okay man?" Seth asked.
"I'm fine." Jacob responded, trying hard not to sound too harsh. Jacob has always had a soft spot for the little wolf boy. Something about Seth always seemed to make him feel better or at ease in a way.
"Forget about Paul, hes just jealous." Seth said, giving a small smile.
"Hes not jealous, hes just naturally an asshole." Jacob said as he continued to walk home with little Seth following.
"I think hes jealous, probably because you have a very pretty imprint."
Jacob couldn't help but smirk at the comment.
"To be honest, I'd be lucky if I imprinted on a pretty vampire like her." Seth said, making Jacob turn to him questionably. Obviously he was not expecting that to come out of Seth's mouth.
"Don't let Leah catch you saying that."
Seth laughed before saying, " I really think I'd be lucky."
"Why do you say that?"
"Well because for one to imprint on a cutie like her would be awesome!"
Jacob couldn't help but laugh out loud, giving Seth a friendy nudge.
"Another reason is they live forever like us! Having the love of my life with me all the time sounds like a winning situation. Plus Skarlett seems really nice, be happy that you got a triple threat as an imprint."
"So you wouldn't care what the pack would say if it happened to you?"
Seth looked up at Jacob with an eye brow raised.
"Hmm, well I wouldn't really care I mean they are family too so in the end no matter what they say, they will always have my back. Besides you can't help who you imprint on."
Jacob smiled and said, " You know, you are a little too wise for your age."
"I just think you should consider yourself lucky, from all the phone conversations we hear in your head, it seems she really likes you. Just don't want you to mess things up especially after you finally got her to give you a chance." Seth finished with a smile on his cute little face.
Deep down Jacob knew the little rascal was right, and immediately felt bad for treating Skarlett the way he has.
"Thanks Seth."
"You think I will find a young beautiful vampire to imprint on?" Seth asked making both of them laugh.
"I think you should head home before Leah kills both of us."
With another nudge Seth was on his way home, leaving Jacob to walk into his house, planning the perfect apology.
