Curse of the Imprint

Learn to let it go

[Jacob's POV]

Everthing has fallen apart for Jacob Black, especially after Bella made
it very clear that she only sees him as a friend, and nothing more. Apart from
rejection, Jacob feared that he would one day imprint, and it wasn't
going to be the girl he knew he was in love with. Even if Bella has chosen him,
he knew it wouldn't be fair to her, seeing as how he didn't imprint on her,
and he would be in another situation as Sam and Emily. He was still upset however,
feeling as thought the girl of his dream's is in love with his born enemy, Edward.

Sitting on his bed with his head in his hands, Jacob thought deeply about
how his life has changed ever since he joined the pack. Lately, when he is
patrolling the woods with the guys, he didn't seem himself. Everyone knew
about his last encounter with Bella, as they read through his thoughts, as
much as he tried to deny them access. When he last talked to her
she broke his heart again. Jacob doesn't understand why he continues
to try for Bella when he knows the outcome. Maybe he is not
willing to give up hope, or maybe he just has the need to feel
better than Edward.

There was a howl coming from the woods behind his house, interupting his thoughts.
He knew that tonight he had to patrol, and as much as he didn't want to he had to.
Of course he enjoyed hunting for vampires, he was just hesitant to transform into his
wolf side, knowing as soon as he did, everyone else would hear his private thoughts.

"We need to focus tonight, can't let anything get to our heads." Sam said as
they all stood around him in their wolf forms. His last comment was said to all,
but directed to Jacob.

"There has been word that a bunch of cold ones are in the area, and we must not let
anything stop us from hunting them." Sam added.

After the small lecture, everyone split into twos, searching the woods for
the unwelcomed vampires.

"Hey Jake, you okay man?" Emry asked, walking next to him.

"Yeah, why?"

"Its just, after last week you kinda seem out of it. The guys are worried about you."

"Well, there is nothing to worry about." Jacob said sounding somewhat bitter, knowing
as they talked through their thoughts, everyone else in the pack could still hear them.
The two continued to patroll their part of the woods in silence.

After staying up all night and no luck finding the blood suckers
the vampires, the group decided to call it a night and head home.

"Jacob, before you leave I need to have a word with you." Sam said, making the others look
at them questionably.

Having no other choice but to listen to his Alpha, Jacob followed Sam back into the same
woods in which they hunted for years now.

"I understand how you must feel right now, I've been there before." Sam said, remembering
the sadden past between Leah and him. Jacob did't say anything, just continued walking.

"If Bella is not your soulmate, you need to learn to let it go."

"Just because I did not imprint on her, doesn't make my love her for disappear."

"It will only complicate things when you do imprint, believe me I know."

"I highly doubt there is someone that I will imprint on, I know everyone in Forks
and in La Push yet still haven't found them."

Laughing at his friend, Sam said, "Just because you looked around doesn't mean
that they don't exist. Jake everyone in the pack will imprint, and sometimes
fate isn't always on your side. Look at me, I was madly in love with Leah, and
fate brought Emily to me. Talk about wrong timing."

With another laugh from Sam, Jacob seemed to ease up a little. Sam was right.
As much as Jacob hate to admit it, he need to move on.

After talking to Sam more, Jacob was finally sent home to rest. Tonight will be
the first night that he will sleep good in the past week. No longer feeling
completely depressed, Jacob gave a sigh.

Tomorrow is going to be tough, seeing as how Bella needed to talk to him, and he promised he'd be there. It has been a week since he last
spoked to her, and to be honest he wasn't quite looking forward to doing it again.
