The next thing I knew, people were scattering, running for their cars. Lightning was swirling around the air, and it just wasn’t safe to be outside anymore. Crystal appeared out of nowhere and latched herself onto Ethan, and the three of us made a run for it, dunking into his car a few blocks away laughing our asses off like we were suddenly all friends again. It was kind of nice actually.

Ethan lived in a small house only three blocks from my own, and as we crowded into his living room, still laughing, telling old stories, retying broken strands of friendship I couldn’t help but smile. After a few minutes, Ethan pulled his guitar into his lap and half nodded at me.

“So, it’s your turn now, Skylar,” He said. “Sing us something. Just tell me what I have to play.”

I bit my lip and started to say no, but then nodded quickly. “Alright, Well, the first chord is a C minor,” I started.
