Dancing Dead
*Lexi’s POV*
“Matty!” I yelled through the house.
“What Lexi?” he emerged from his room.
“Where are my keys?” I asked.
“How am I supposed to know?” he threw his hands in the air.
“Because you decided you wanted to drive my car last night instead of yours.”
“Oh yeah. They’re in here.” he turned back to his room. I followed almost falling over a pile of clothes.
“Ugh Matty you should clean your room.” I said as I pushed away clothes to make a path.
“Like you should talk.” he scoffed and handed me my keys.
“Thanks. And my room is clean.” I made my way down the hall to my room.
“When did this happen?” he gestured to my clean floor.
“Last night. After you left I got bored so I cleaned.” I shrugged, threw my keys on my dresser and walked into my closet. I grabbed my American Eagle shorts, a Devil Wears Prada tank top and black and white Vans. I got my black star earrings out of my jewelry bow and threw it all on the bed.
“Where you going all dressed up?” he picked up my shirt and tossed it back down.
“Adam’s.”
“No you’re not.” he crossed his arms.
“And why not?” I copied his movements.
“Because you don’t need to go over there.” he said matter of factly.
“Matty why don’t you want me over there?”
“Because I know Adam.”
“I do too. Adam is my best friend. Deal with it.”
“Lexi.” he sighed.
“Matty can I please get dressed?” I moved my hands to the hem of my shirt.
“Alright alright, I’m going.” he walked out. I closed and locked the door behind him.
I quickly got dressed, applied makeup, grabbed my keys and my A7X purse and headed down the stairs.
“I’m leaving, I’ll be back later!” I yelled up the stairs to Matty.
I got in my Fiesta and started the engine. The end of Dancing Dead poured from the speakers. I hit shuffle on my iPod and Welcome to the Family started playing. I immediately started singing along.

As the song finished I pulled into Adam’s driveway. I got out of the car and looked up just in time to see Adam running at me. He picked me up and swung me around.
“Lexi!” he said as he put me down.
“Adam!” I said trying to catch my breath. He leaned down but I ducked my head.
“Hey.” he pouted.
“Not out here.” I got my bag out of my car and made my way into his house. He ran in front of me, threw me over his shoulder, and ran into the house. Once in the house he ran up the stairs to his room. He kicked the door shut, walked over to his bed, and gently laid me down. He climbed on top of me and attacked my lips with his. We continued for a minute until we needed air.
“God I missed you.” he said and smothered my mouth again.
“Adam, you saw me yesterday.” I pushed him off my and climbed off the bed.
“Where are you going?” I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away from the bed.
“You’ll see.” I grabbed my bag that I carelessly thrown on the floor. I pulled my iPod out, picked my ALT play list, started it out on Break, and plugged it in on his dock.
“Nice.” he smiled.
“I thought you’d like it.” I climbed back on the bed.
“Matty didn’t want me to come today.” I said after a minute of silence.
“Why?” Adam pulled me into his chest.
“Because he’s my brother and he’s supposed to protect me.” I shrugged.
“He does protect you, just a little too much sometimes.” he began to rub little circles on my lower back. He restarted the song singing it in my ear.

He tapped his fingers along to the beat of the end of the song.
“Why does your brother have to be so protective?” he ran his hands through my hair. The song switched to We Are the Involuntary by Underoath. He chuckled.
“What?” I looked at him.
“Your iPod is so random. It switches from hardcore rock to Christian to Mayday Parade.” he laughed.
I shrugged, “It’s the music I listen to. I put a part of the blame on Aiden. She’s the one who put Underoath on my iPod.” I chuckled.
“Why?”
“It was just in her cds and she didn’t think about it.”
“Did you want it?”
It doesn’t bother me. They’re actually pretty good” I smiled.
“Well I bet I know somebody who’s better.” he chuckled and pressed his lips to mine.

“Is that Danger Line?” Adam asked.
“Yeah it’s my favorite part and its Matty’s ringtone.” I climbed off the bed to read the text he sent me.
Lex, be home in fifteen minutes. We need to do something. Love Matty
“Ugh I have to go home in fifteen minutes.” I plopped back on the bed.
“Why?” Adam spread his legs and pulled me to him.
“I apparently have to do something with Matty. Probably something with the family.” I shrugged.
“You hate your family.” he looked at me.
“Not that family, if I was talking about them I would have said the evil ones. I’m talking about my A7X family silly.” I laughed.
“Yeah I’m gonna go. I’ll probably be back later.” I climbed off the bed, got my iPod from his dock, grabbed my bag and turned to face him.
“Alright see ya later. Love you.” he leaned down pressed his lips to mine in a quick but passionate kiss.
“Love you too.”
