It All Started At A Bar Chapter 2

“Here we are. Home sweet home,” Mike said opening the door to his house.
It was a normal sized city house.
I walked inside and looked around.
“Nice place,”
“Thanks. What can I get you? Hungry? Thirsty?”
“Are you a good cook?” I asked.
“I’m pretty good. Mama didn’t raise no fool,” he laughed at his own joke.
“Can you make me a good home cooked meal?”
“Sure,”
I smiled. “Thank you,” I said, meaning it.
“No problem. It’s nice to see you smile and mean it,”
“Don’t except that often. Can I have a beer?” I asked.
“I have Bud Light,”
“That will do,” I said following him into the kitchen.
A pack of cigarettes caught my eye.
I haven’t smoked in forever.
“You smoke?” I asked.
“Yeah, why?” he asked.
“No reason. Can I take one?”
“Yeah, sure. I’m trying to quite anyway. Just make sure you go outside. My…roommate hates the smell,”
“Will do,” I said taking a cigarette and the lighter. Mike handed me the cold bottle of beer and I stepped outside.
I light up the cigarette and inhaled the fumes.
God, I missed this.
I sat down and enjoyed my beer and cigarette. I looked at the sky and watched the sun slowly fall.
Moments later my beer was done and my cigarette was down to nothing.
I put it out and walked inside the house.
Smells overtook me as I opened the back door. Mike was cooking away smiling slightly.
“What you making?” I asked, slightly shocked.
“You’ll see,”
I smiled a little. “Man, I haven’t had stuff like this in ever,”
“What happened? To you?”
I gave him a hard look. “Is that any of your business?”
“Sorry,” he muttered.
“So, where am I staying?”
“The guest room. I’ll show you,”
Mike led me upstairs and to a small room.
“This will be your lovely room for the night. There’s a bathroom in the back,”
“Great, thanks,”
“Yup,” he said walking away.
I walked into the bathroom and turned on the water, making it nice and warm.
I stripped out of my clothes and stepped into the small shower.
The warm water relaxed my muscles.
I stood under the warm running water for a while then washed off.
I turned off the water and grabbed a towel and dried off.
I heard the door open and I poked my head out to a women around me age.
She jumped back and screamed and I did the same, minus the scream.
“What are you doing here? Mike!” she yelled.
I fixed my towel and followed her.
“Who is this and why is she in my shower?” she screamed.
Mike tried to calm her down. “Honey, it’s okay, she’s a firned,”
“We’re not friends. He’s doing me favor,” I said walking down the steps.
Mike looked at me longer than he should have before nodding his head. “She just needs a place to stay,”
“Ugh. Aren’t there places for that?”
“Jill,” Mike said.
“Whatever, what’s for dinner, Bobby Flay?” she asked
Mike smiled. “You’ll see,” he said taking her hand and leading her into the kitchen.
“Oh, un, Mike, can I talk to you for a minute?” I asked him.
“Yeah,” he said as Jill rolled her eyes and left the room.
“That was your roommate? More like sleeping buddy,” I whispered harshly.
“She’s my girlfriend,”
“You could have told me that?”
“I guess…”
I rolled my eyes. “Can I have some clothes?”
“Sure,” Mike said heading up stairs to his room.
He rummaged around and pulled out his boxers and a t shirt.
“Thanks,” I said walking away.
“No problem,” he said behind me.
I got changed and brushed my hair, to get the knots out.
Once I was done I headed down stairs.
The table was set and a grinned grew on my face.
Finally a home cooked meal.
“Can I have another beer?”
“Sure,” Mike said taking out two.
I looked at Jill. “So, you guys are together?”
“Yup,” she smirked. “Since high school,”
“Cute,” I said mocking her.
Mike chucked a little before pulling out a seat for her.
I sat down across from her and pilled food on my plate.
I stuffed my face like this was going to be my last meal.
Jill gave me a disgusted look and Mike chuckled.
“Yummy?”
“Hell yes” I said with my mouth full.
“Chew, swallow, then talk,”
I rolled my eyes and took a long sip of beer. “do you like see food?”
“Yes,” she said as I filled my mouth with food again.
I smirked and opened my mouth.
“Ew! Mikey make her stop,”
I laughed and swallowed my food. “Well, I’m full,” I said as I burped.
“Ew!” Jill said.
I took my beer and a cigarette and walked out the back door.
It was going to be a long night.
