So, I Love My Best Friend

“She needs a little help studying,” Jake whispered in my ear.
He smiled at me. “Maybe you could join us,” he winked.
“No thanks,” I said pushing past him and walked over to Jerry.
He was talking to a friend of his, Blain.
“There’s my girl,” Jerry said holding out his arms.
I smiled and gave him a hug.
“So, I’ll see you after school?” Blain said before eyeing me.
“Yeah, after five.”
“Don’t forget-”
“I got it,” Jerry said cutting him off.
Blain held up his hands and walked away from us.
“What was that about?” I asked.
“Nothing. Did Jake tell you anything?”
“Yeah, Rose is cheating Chauncey,”
“What?”
“He said she needed help studying and Rose is pretty smart. Chauncey told me they haven’t slept together yet. What do you think?”
“I don’t know…”
“I can’t tell Chauncey this. He’ll be crushed,”
Jerry hugged me as the bell rang. “You’ll think of something,” he kissed my forehead before lacing our fingers together.
We walked down the hallway together to my homeroom.
I tried to push Jake and Rose out of my head. The whole thing bothered me. If Rose didn’t like Chauncey anymore then why didn’t she just break up with him?
“Did Jake say anything?” Chauncey asked him as the bell rang.
“Yeah...we’ll talk later okay?”
“Okay,” he looked a little worried but went to his next class.
I headed to math class and sat next to Jerry.
“Hi,” I said with a sigh.
“What’s wrong, babe?”
“I think I’m over thinking things”.
“Maybe,” Jerry said taking my hand.
“What do you think I should do?”
“You know Chauncey better than anyone. Would he want you to tell you?”
“I think so,”
“Then tell him,”
I gave Jerry a slight smile. “You know, you can trust me right?”
“Yeah, of course,”
“You can tell me anything I won’t judge you”.
“I know,” he said.
I smiled again. “So, what’s happening at five?”
Jerry sighed. “It’s nothing”.
“If it’s nothing then you can tell me. I won’t get mad”.
Jerry looked over at me. “Okay. Blain and some other guys want some weed from me. I haven’t smoked in months, so I have a lot stored up. That’s all that’s going on”.
“Wow…”
“That’s why I didn’t want to tell you,” Jerry said getting out of his seat.
I followed him. “Listen. I don’t care what you do as long as you’re safe. I’m glad you don’t smoke anymore. Just promise me you’ll be safe. I don’t like that you’re a dealer but…what can I say?” I wrapped my arms around his waist.
He smiled. “You know exactly what to say”.
“Where is our teacher?” he asked.
“I don’t know”.
“No sub either? Sweet!” Jerry hurried over and closed the door before running back over to me.
He kissed me on the lips and held me close to him.
I smiled and kissed him back.
