Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

“Are you sure you wanna do this?” Pete asked with worried look. I just gritted my teeth and took a deep breath.

“You’re asking me if I wanna do this AFTER you spent the past four hours talking me into it?!” I yelled as I started hitting his chest repeatedly.

“Ha! The fang beauty is getting his ass kicked!” Syler said and started laughing uncontrollably.

“I’m sorry! But this is dangerous!” Pete yelled trying to block his still bare chest. “Not just for you, but for the hunters too!”

“Well then why the hell did you talk me into this?!”

“Because he is STUPID! S-T-U-P-I-D! ESTUPIDO!” Syler yelled.

“Dude! You went along with it!” I yelled back at him.

“Well then I don’t know!” Syler yelled back.

“See! I’m not the only one with lame comebacks!” Pete yelled and I smiled.

“You do realize that you just admitted that your comebacks are lame, right?” I smirked.

“Shut up and get out!”

“You said I don’t have to!”

“I changed my mind!”

“Your pretty locks will get cut if anything is going to go wrong!” at that Pete gasped and screamed.

“You wouldn’t!”

“Oh she would.” Syler said nodding.

“Oh. My. God.” I said as my eyes widened. “I can’t do this!” I yelled at Pete as I shook his shoulders. “No way!”

“Why not?!”

“You know why!” I yelled giving him a pointed look.

“Oh, well I guess we didn’t think about that.” Syler said scratching the back of his head with his hand (well that’s a first).

“What are you talking about?” Pete questioned.

“Syler?”

“Yeah?”

“You were right, Pete IS an idiot.” I said and he nodded.

“I told you so.” He said in a sing song voice.

“What the fuck are you two talking about?” Pete growled out of frustration.

“Dude, think a little. What advantage does William have over me now?” I asked and his eyes widened. “Yeah.”

“But we don’t have any other plan.”

“Well I guess that I just have to become a Dandy then. Completely.” I said dully.

“How will you set up a meeting with Will thou?” Pete asked.

“I’m just gonna go home.” I said simply then started walking to the front door. I stopped halfway and looked down at my pjs. “Right after I change.”

“Yeah.” Syler said and Pete agreed.

“Remember, tell us everything. He’s probably gonna have you ‘spy’ on us so you will come back to us anyway.”

“Yea, Pete, I think I know my brother. So I’ll talk to you soon, I hope.” I said and started walking up and to my room to find something ‘dandy’ to wear.



I took one final look in the mirror and I was truly surprised. I guess that the dandy look for the girl is much better than I thought.

I put my coat on and started making my way downstairs.

“You don’t look like a Dandy.” I heard Pete say and I stopped in my tracks and looked down.

“Oh! That’s why I look so good!” I laughed and shook my head.

“Wow, you are such a girl.” Pete said as he rolled his eyes.

“Way to state the obvious oh mighty Peter.” Syler said. “Now, what’s under the coat?” he asked.

I stepped down and unbuttoned my jacket. Syler smiled and nodded.

“That’s my girl.” He said and then patted my head. “Go and break his shadow of a heart.” He said in a baby voice and I shook my head at him.

“But if Will’s gonna accept me then I’m probably gonna have to move there. So I suggest that you and Pete stay in our room and if my clothes disappear then the plan went well.” Then I turned to look at Pete. “And don’t you dare to look into my underwear drawer.” I said pointing my finger at him.

“Hey! I was looking for a shirt that you stole from me!” he defended himself and I just narrowed my eyes at him. “He made me do it!” he yelled pointing at Syler.

I turned to Syler and he started laughing.

“Yeah, I did, that was priceless.” He laughed.

“Next time you turn into a cat, I’m taking you to a vet to get you neutered.”

“You’re not serious are you?”

“OR I can just take care of that myself.” I smirked and his eyes widened and he put his hands in front of his crotch and started running upstairs. Then I turned to Pete with a smile “And THAT is how you deal with him.”

“Yeah, well you could’ve told me that when I met him!” he yelled back and then he got up. “Now remember, tell us everything that happens. And if you are in danger, call me, okay?” he said and I nodded as I hugged him. “Good luck.”

“Thanks Pete, and remember, no one can know about this. I don’t care that most of the people in this house will hate me. I have to take him down and end all of this madness.” I said and he nodded.

“Bye Avery.”

“Bye Pete.”

And with that I opened the front door and walked out. I took a deep breath and started my long walk. The mansion was about an hour away by foot but I didn’t care.

About fifty minutes later I could smell the blood and the vampires. I ran the rest of the way and got there about five minutes later. I stopped at the high iron gates and pushed it open.

I walked to the steps at the front door and as soon as I put my foot on the top step the door swung open and there stood a Dandy.

“Welcome home, Miss Beckett.” He said with a smile and opened the door wider to let me in.

“Well what can I say, it’s good to be back.” I said softly as I looked around the foyer.

“Avery, honey, I missed you.” I hear a familiar voice. I turned around and smiled. “I will take that.” He said as he came behind me and took off my coat.

“It’s good to see you Mike.” I smiled and hugged him.

“And it’s good to finally have a Dandy princess here with us.” he said smiling. “Now let me take you to your brother.” He said and led me upstairs to Will’s office. I heard a faint ‘come in’ from the inside and Mike pushed the door open and stepped aside for me. “I’ll leave you two to your family matters.” He said and turned to me. He took my hand and kissed the back of it. I just smiled in return as I took a step inside.

“Avery? Well to say that I’m surprised will be an understatement. Come in.” Will said smirking. It took everything for me not to roll my eyes at him.

“All I have to say is that you were right.” I started as I took a seat in one of the chairs. “I have to stick with the strong side.” I said matching his smirk.

“Good, good.” He said nodding. “You will be sharing a bedroom with Brendon.”

“Excuse me?”

“Well I heard that you two are fighting so I want to make sure that your friendship will get better. After all, we need our strongest fighters, now don’t we?”

“Well there is a high chance that if you make me do this, there will be one less of a strong fighter.” I said back.

“I’ll take my chances.” He smirked. “Oh, and I’ve been wanting to ask you something for a while now.”

“I am not telling you.” I said smiling and walked out of the room where Mike was waiting for me.

“Shall we, my lady?” he asked smiling offering his arm. I linked my arm through his.

“We shall.” I smiled and he started leading me through the hallways. About five minutes later we were standing in front of a big wooden door. He pushed it open and turned to me.

“This is your room; I hope you enjoy your stay with us.” He said sweetly and disappeared.

I walked into the room and found my coat hanging on the back of the chair in front of an old desk. I looked around the room and found only one bed. I guess I’ll be sleeping in the bathtub then.

After that thought I had to go and see what the bathroom looked like. I walked in and saw a pretty big bathtub. Good. I made a couple of blankets appear in the tub along with a couple of pillows. Bed—done.

“Who’s in here? I swear if you don’t come out now you will regret it.” I heard someone say with anger and probably through gritted teeth. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom (I suppose that I’m lucky that I wasn’t looking through the closet).

“You yelled?” I questioned as I folded my arms across my chest. I saw him look me up and down and then over my face again. He shook his head in disbelief. “Yes, it is me and in case you didn’t know, we’re now roommates.” I said and then started walking towards the door.

“What?”

“Go ask William and judging by your previous actions—you won’t be surprised.” I said and started making my way past him until he took my hand and stopped me in his tracks. “You wanted something?”

“I’m glad you’re here.” He smiled.

“I’m sorry Brendon, but I can’t hear you.” I answered roughly.

“Why?”

“Because your actions spoke so much louder than your words will ever do.” I answered and took my hand away from his and walked out of the room.

I heard running behind me but I didn’t stop. I had to find that person.

“Avery, I’m sorry. How many more times do I have to say it to you before you forgive me?” he pleaded and I could hear his voice break a couple of times but I won’t fall for that again.

“It’s up to you, because my decision is final and you and I both know it.” I said simply as I kept making my way towards my designation.

Then he appeared right in front of me. As in basically bumped into me. He grabbed my shoulders and made us disappear. But since I was more powerful I used this to my advantage. I took us to my house. Or at least to what was left of it.

“What? How did you do that?” he asked with wide eyes.

“Look around you.” I demanded and he did as I told. “This is why I will never forgive you. You’re one of the reasons why I want to kill my own brother. You are one of the reasons why I don’t want to live anymore. You took my heart you broke it in pieces. Then you took those pieces and put them back together. Then you took my fragile heart and turned it into dust. Now I don’t have a heart. All thanks to you Mister Urie.” I said looking in his eyes.

“I never meant to hurt you.”

“How? You think that I like being lied to? You think that I enjoy having everyone I love leave me?” I closed my eyes and took a shaky breath. “I don’t.” I whispered. “No one does.” I took a chance and put my hand on his cheek caressing it softly. “I miss you.” I whispered softly and then I dropped my hand and turned away from his lifeless figure.

“Please, forgive me.”

“As much as I want to, I can’t.”

“Why not? I miss you too, probably a lot more than you ever even think of me. We’re on the same side now. Why can’t you forgive me?”

“Because people only deserve a second chance if you truly believe they are capable of change.” I said without turning around. “I gave you a second chance. And for that I got stabbed. After that, you’re out of chances.”

“I wasn’t doing it to hurt you. I had to do it or he would’ve killed me! Don’t you get it?!” he yelled in frustration. In a second I was facing him again, my eyes full of anger.

“Then you should’ve stayed with me. You know my power. I could’ve protected you.”

“No thank you, I don’t want to be enslaved by another Beckett.”

“Excuse me? Do you really think that I’m just like my brother? I spent my whole life trying to take him down.”

“And yet, you’re on our side now.”

“And the reason for that is?” I said and he looked at me with his brows furrowed. “Think a little. Don’t you know me at all?”

“Yeah, you came here to protect that goddamned Peter. Do you really think that you’re gonna be able to protect your stupid little lover this way?” he hissed in anger and I started laughing uncontrollably. About five minutes later I had to wipe my eyes from tears.

“Pete? Really? Pete? He’s a great guy, but not the one who has my heart.” I said with a sigh.

“Then who?” Brendon growled. “Your cat?” he spat.

“Again, he was one of the best friends I ever had, he was there to support me every single time after you kept breaking my heart. Just at Pete was. But no.”

“Are you really in love, or are you just pretending?”

“Why would I pretend?”

“To save whoever you love.”

“Don’t you think that it’s not the best way to protect someone? Because if William will ever find him, he will use him against me. Just like he’s using you.” I spat.

“What? How is he using me?”

“You were my best friend. I loved you to death, I would do anything for you because you were like a brother to me. That’s why William changed you. That’s why he took you away from me. He wanted to break me all because of this.” I said and made a fire ball appear at the palm of my hand.

Brendon reached to touch it and retreated as the fire burned his skin.

“This is the most dangerous weapon any vampire has ever seen. And William wants it. And now he has it. Yes that way I might protect who I lo-“

“Are you in love with me?” Brendon asked softly as he took a step closer to me.

“I loved you. But as a brother.” I answered looking him in the eyes. He just nodded and I could see a hint of sadness in his eyes.

“I lost you didn’t I?” he questioned as he took a seat on the half burned wood of the porch.

I just stood there quietly not wanting to give an answer. I don’t know what to do anymore. I just want to run over to him and have him hold me close for the rest of eternity. But it’s never as simple as that.

I took a couple of steps towards him and sat in front of him. I put my hands on his knees and he looked up at me with tears forming in his eyes.

“Come here.” I whispered and he cautiously wrapped his hands around me and pulled me closer. I wrapped my arms around his waist and put my head in the crook of his neck.

“I’m sorry, you have no idea how sorry I am. I never meant to hurt you. And every time I did it would hurt me so much worse. I’m miserable without you. Please forgive me.”

“Calm down. Everything’s gonna be okay. I can’t forgive you. Not again.” I whispered.

“How is everything is going to be okay if you hate me?” he questioned looking me in the eyes. At that moment, I knew—if my heart would still be beating, it would stop.

“How could you ever think that I hate you?”

“That’s what it feels like. You don’t want anything to do with me.”

“Do you want me to tell you the truth?” I asked.

“Yes, the truth would be nice for once.” He said through gritted teeth. I just pulled away from him and stood up pulling him up with me.

“You have no idea how much I want to have you back in my life. You have no idea how much I miss you every single day. You have no idea how many times I think of you every second.”

“If you feel that way about me, I can’t imagine what you feel for the person you’re in love with. He’s a really lucky guy.”

“Yeah, I wish he knew that.” I mumbled the second part and his brows furrowed.

“He doesn’t know?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Who is he? He needs to know. You’re an amazing girl. You’re smart, you’re beautiful, you’re…”

“What?”

“Nothing.” He mumbled and turned away from me.

“Brendon,” I walked around the porch trying not to trip on any of the wooden boards with my heel. I stood in front of him and he turned away from me. “Really, Brendon, really? Do you see what I’m wearing? I have good balance, but I still can’t walk around this archeological site.” I grumbled as I made my way to face him again. He turned away once again. “Urie!” I yelled. Then I just made myself disappear and appear in front of him. Before he could turn around I grabbed his shoulders and made him face me. “Tell me.”

“Whoever you’re in love with will tell you.” He said as he looked down again. I just groaned.

“And they say women are confusing.” I grumbled as I ran my fingers through my hair nearly ripping it all out in the process.

“Stop it.” Brendon said softly as he took my hands in his. I just looked up at him waiting for him to talk. Just as he opened his mouth I heard someone appear next to us. I looked over and saw Pete.

“Time to talk chica.” He said quickly.

“What?” Brendon stammered and I just shrugged my shoulders and Pete made me disappear.

When I opened my eyes I was standing in my room at the warehouse. I turned to look at Pete and his eyes widened at my angry expression.

“You could’ve blown the whole thing!” I whisper yelled just in case there was someone listening from the outside.

“And he was about to say something that would make you fall for his trap.” Pete defended.

“How do you know? You weren’t there.”

“Yes I was. And I read his mind.”

“How? Only I can do that, but I don’t do it often.” I said and looked at him skeptically.

“I don’t know, I could never do that. I can only read human minds. Not vampires.”

“That explains how you heard me projecting into Syler’s mind.” I said nodding. “But what was so terrible that Brendon was going to say?”

“He was going to say that he’s in love with you. But it’s just a trap, trust me, you don’t want to fall for that. He was probably just saying it so you would forgive him.” Pete said and my jaw dropped.

“Pete, thank you for being protective over me, but do me a favor—stay out of my personal life.”

“Avery, I know what he felt, he was going to say that.”

“Hold on a second. You felt what he was feeling? You didn’t actually hear that he was going to say that?”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“Pete.” I said with my eyebrows raised.

“Hey, in my defense, I’m a great guy! You said it yourself.” He said as he was taking steps back away from me.

“You know how I feel. If I would’ve heard those words from him, it would make it much easier for me to take down William. William wants me and Brendon to be on good terms, and if he would’ve said that, then we would. I know he would be okay with me loving someone else and now I know that he would protect me now no matter what.”

“I just made things worse didn’t I?” Pete asked and I nodded.

“As I said earlier today, Pete is an idiot.” Syler said as he laid on the bed with his eyes closed.

“Well Mr. Pussycat, why didn’t you stop him?” I growled.

“His actions were conducted during Nappy Time.” he said with a lazy smile and I just rolled my eyes.

“Avery, I’m sorry.”

“God, now you just sound like Brendon.” I groaned and opened all the drawers with my clothes. “I’m moving. And I have to share a bedroom with Brendon. So thank you guys for making it so complicated for me.”

“You have to share a room with him?” Pete asked and I nodded.

“Will made me.”

“I have nothing else to say.”

“Good, cuz I don’t wanna hear it. Now I’m gonna go and as Mike said ‘enjoy my stay.’” I said as I snapped my fingers to make my clothes disappear and me right after them.

Then I forgot something and reappeared again.

“I’ll be back with more information soon. Bye guys, love ya.” I smiled and blew them a kiss as I disappeared again but this time into my ruins-of a house.

“What was that all about?” Brendon asked with a worried look on his face.

“We had a spy on our hands. And of course we got the one who could read vampire minds. So he had to take me back, try to get me to stay by saying that you’re just going to use me.” I explained simply.

“He could read vampire minds?” he questioned and I nodded. “So he read my mind?” I nodded again. “Did he tell you what I was thinking?”

“Do you want me to lie?” I asked and he groaned as he threw his head back. “I’m sorry, Brendon.”

“You don’t feel the same way do you?” he asked and I looked down.

“You’re a couple of years late for that.” I said softly.

“How many years?”

“Before high school.” I said and he just buried his head in his hands.

“You know what, it doesn’t matter anymore.” He said with a nervous laugh. “I was kidding, it didn’t mean anything.”

“You do know that I can read vampire’s mind as well.”

“Can I suffer in peace?” he whined and I just chuckled and shook my head.

“All will fall into place as the right time comes.” I said softly.

“What the hell does that mean?” he whined.

“Now you’re acting like Pete.” I said with a smile.

“How?”

“He whines a lot.”

“I do not!” I heard somewhere from the woods and I squinted to get a better look. I saw Syler sitting on a branch and Pete on another one. I just gritted my teeth and send a fire ball in their way. About two seconds later I could see Pete fall off of the branch in order to dodge the ball.

“He does whine a lot.” I said as I turned to Brendon again. Just as I was about to say something I heard someone appear and I turned around quickly and my jaw dropped.

“Avery.” He whispered softly. I nodded and ran over to his waiting arms. “I can’t believe you’re here. I mean I heard rumors about you being at the mansion but I still can’t believe you’re here.” He rambled on. “God, how much I love you.” He said as he crashed his lips onto mine.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Brendon yelled waving his hands around like crazy maniac. “Him?!” he yelled with wide eyes and I nodded. “Ryan Ross?! Really?!” he yelled.
