Memori

The Decision

Draco stared at the guy, not sure how to feel.
Either completely angry and want to tear Alex's face
off or hurt that in the end no matter what, Aiden's
memories will never be the same.

"Do you know how much trouble you caused?" Draco asked
angrily at the guy.
With a sigh Alex said, "Follow me to my office, we
must not discuss this here."

The two Slytherins followed Alex to his office, which
is right across the Hospital Wing. Alex opened the door,
making the boys go in first, and then he followed them inside.

"Have a seat." Alex said, waving his wand and suddenly
two chairs appeared in front of his desk.

"Let me start by saying that I feel bad for doing
such a thing to Aiden, but understand that it is my
job. People come to be to help them." Alex explained,
calmly.

"First off what are you doing here?" Christian
asked, speaking for the first time.

"Proffesor Dumbledore offered me a job here,
to help Maddam Promfrey, as her assistant.
You see, my father owned a small business
down at Catsgroom, but after he passed,
business has not been the same so
Dumbledore offered to help me out. Although
I am officially a healer, like my
father I specialize in Memories." Alex said,
making the two boys shift uncomfortably in their
seats.

"I too have to live with the consequences of
erasing memories, you know?"

Draco looked confused as he stared at Alex,
wondering how in the world would he feel
bad about what he does for a living.

"In what way?" Christian asked.

"To me it is not just a job, its life.
Although I do it to help people, I can't help
but feel sad that they would want to remove
pieces of their life and act like it has
never happened. To others it may seem as a gift
but to me it is rather a curse that causes people
to rely on to fix their mistakes in their lives.
You two have no idea how hard it is to watch my
patients wake up after the procedure not knowing
much about their life before it."

For once Draco stared at Alex not in anger, but
he actually felt bad for the guy. Alex messes with their
memories because they need him too, and in like Aiden's case
because of Draco, Alex had no other choice but to help
the poor girl.

As if knowing what was going through Draco's head,
Alex then said, " Aiden is a great girl, and I did not
need to go through her head to see it, and that is why
I chose to help her. There are some cases like Aidens.
Most of the time people ask me to help them to remove
the things that they regret, but there are a few of them
that I consider the hopeless hearts. Aiden was one of them.
Aiden decided to go through with the procedure because
everytime she thought of you, it broke her. I saw everything
Draco, and I saw that you were great for her, but
after I saw the reason why she wanted to erase her memories,
I couldn't help but want to save her."

Alex's words stung Draco, making him feel worse about himself.
Even this complete stranger couldn't stand to see the pain
that he had caused on his lover. The word pain is rather
an understatement, Draco caused more than just pain to Aiden,
and that is why guilt will be forever in his head. Christian
also understood what Alex's reason were, because he too
felt bad for the way his best friend betrayed her.

"Is there some way that you can reverse it?" Christain asked.

"I wish there was a way, but this is a permanent
procedure. Once it is done, there is no way to
get the memories back."

"Are you serious? I mean people have found
a way to erase memories and replace them with
others but noone has found a way to get it back?!" Christian
asked bitterly, although deep down he knew the turth already.

"If there is a way to restore the old memories,
I'm telling you the truth, my family has not
found it. To be honest there might be a way,
but not one person in this world
has figured out how. I'm sorry."

Draco and Christian looked sadly at one
another before nodding their heads to Alex.
They also knew that there probably wasn't
a way to get Aiden to remember the true love
that she once had. Draco sadly had to face reality
that he can't get Aiden's memories back, and is
left to think about the problem that he
as caused just because he couldn't stand up against
his father, like Aiden had wanted him too.

Suprising both of the boys, Alex said something
to them that made them see Alex in a whole different view,
Draco realized that he wasn't the cause of their problems,
Alex was actually the one that saved Aiden.

"You know, Death Eater is just a title, don't let
it define you, and most of all don't make it lose
the one person who actually loves you for you." Alex
said looking seriously at the two young Slytherins.

"I know I am just a healer not a guidance counselor,
but just understand this before you both leave this room.
People fall in love for the wrong reasons. But to see
the love the Aiden has had for you at such a young age,
truely surprised me as well. She loved you despite
what everyone else saw in you," Alex said this
time looking at Draco, refering to the memory
he saw of Aiden not caring about what the other
students said, or what her friends said, but in
the end decideing to prove them wrong and that Draco
is truely the love of her life.

Alex then continued, "Like I said, people
fall in love for the wrong reasons. Either for
money or for power, or in some cases pretty much
both. Aiden fell in love with you for YOU! So death
eater of not Draco, don't prove them right,
don't make Aiden go through all that crap for nothing."

For the next ten minutes the three guys talked,
and the two slytherins came to find that Alex was not
the bad guy, they once thought. He was actually doing what
he needed to do to help people, or in Draco's eyes, Alex
is the one that cleaned up his mess.

Draco sat there, thinking of Aiden and all the stuff he put
her through. Every thought made him feel less of a person,
and more of a monster. To him Alex was right, Aiden took crap from
the whole school, including her firends, but she still stood up
for what she believed in, which is him, Draco Malfoy.

That is why the next words that came out of his
mouth actually surprised him.

"Can you do the procedure on me? You know, erase my
memories too?" Draco asked catching the other two
completely off guard.

"What?" Alex asked.

"Can you replace my memories and make it exactly the
same as Aidens, so when we think about the past, we
think of the same made up memories?"

"Draco, man think of what you are asking." Christian
said looking as if his friend had completely lost his mind.

"I did think about it, I can't stand seeing Aiden hate me everyday,
I love her but like he said there is no way of replacing her memories."

"Listen Draco, I understand that it is hard for you to
see the new Aiden but think about how it is going to affect
your future as well." Alex said calmly.

"Future as a death eater is no future at all."

"Remember what he said! It is just a title, don't
let it define you!" Christian said, on the verge of
smacking his friend upside the head, hopeing to knock
some sense back into him.

"Christain, I see her everyday and imagine
when the person you love hates you, or even worse
they don't remember everything that meant something
to you." Draco spat, getting angry.

Although this might go on the long list
of regrets, Draco decided to go through with it. His love
for Aiden will forever be in his heart, but if love is
no longer in her head then it seems right that it shouldn't
be in his. Draco knew that this decision will change everything,
but like Aiden, he is just another hopeless heart.

"You sure about this?" Alex asked.

"Yes." Draco said, holding back the lump
in his throat as he eyes started to water a little.

"Well if you are truely sure, then we will do it tonight." Alex
said giving Draco a sad look, although understanding where he is coming
from, he too did not want Draco to go through with this.

Christain sat there looking at the two somewhat furious,
as a friend he has done all he can to help Draco, but if removing
his memories will help him move on, then there is nothing
Christian can do about it.

"Tonight will be perfect." Draco said turning away. Clueless
to the other two guys in the room, Draco let one tear
fall and drip to the stone cold floor.
