We All Fall Down

The Dream

Gwynlyn was running.
The forest was dark. She ran into a clearing and stopped. She heard something behind her and whirled around.
He brushed his black bangs out of his eyes as he stepped closer. His amber eyes captured her attention. They showed signs of being young, but deep inside looked older.
She opened her mouth to scream, but he silenced her with a finger to her lips.
"You can scream your heart out, but no one is ever going to hear you." His eyes widened and he stepped back. A silvery-white wolf brushed her legs. It looked up at her, snarled and lept at the man. Gwyn woke with a start. The dream had haunted her since she had turned eightteen and moved from Wales a few months ago. She had learned how to hide her accent quickly.
Michael stood in the doorway, the light illuminating his silhouette. He leaned against the door.
"You okay, Gwyn?" She nodded and took a deep breath.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He finished putting on his tie as he walked away. Gwyn got out of bed and got dressed. Michael came back to the door.
"You ready?" She nodded.
