Secrets Will Kill You The Sequel

Crazy Works

After I was thraped, I managed to skip back down to Sam, Dean and Brit and Sam and Brit told us that there was this guy who says he saw the creature and we all agreed that we should get the hell out of here sooner than later. Then, this pretty girl and a hot guy came walking toward us. The girl went right up to Dean and started to make out with him and the guy started to make out with Brit. She was more resistant than Dean of course. Sam tensed and was ready to pounce on this guy but I held him back.

“He’s crazy” I reminded him and he lightened up.

They introduced themselves as Wendy and Rick and then just walked away making out with each other. We all just exchanged confused glances.

We waited until it got dark and all the patients went to sleep and we met up again and our destination was room 306. We rounded a corner and then the screaming began. We raced down the hallway and came to room 306. I jumped as feet slammed against the window and Sam started to pick the lock.

“Hurry up! Come on!” Dean rushed. “Back off, Dean!” Sam snapped

I jumped slightly as there was more screams and thumps coming from across the hall. “What the hell?” I grunted as I jumped to the door and picked the lock in a swift motion.

I got the door open and saw a woman hanging from a pipe…dead. I turned to see Sam and Dean staring up at a man hanging as well. We were too late.

The next day, when the guy, Ted, was taken to the morgue. We headed there and pulled his body out on the metal slab and we began to inspect the whole body. “So there are two?” Brit questioned as I left it to Sam to do a clean sweep of the body.

“I guess so…” I sighed and shrugged. “Hey…I found something” Sam said.

We all looked at him and he took a cue tip and pushed it into a hole on the side of Ted’s neck. “Okay, that’s gross” Brit made a face.

“This hole goes all the way through to his brain!” Sam claimed. “Yea, that’s really gross” I enforced and made my own face. “What does that mean?” Dean asked.

“One of you might want to keep watch” Sam said and I saw he was eyeing a medical saw.

“Ew, I’ll keep watch” Brit said. “Yea, me too” I said. “I think I should go and help them” Dean finished and we all walked out.

We waited a few seconds…and then we heard the saw start up. We all looked at each other and then cringed. After a few minutes, I heard footsteps. “Someone’s coming” I said and quickly walked back in to Sam. “Sam…”

“Look! His brain’s been sucked dry!” he claimed, holding up the dry brain.

“Yea, really fascinating, someone’s coming” I told him and he quickly went to put the brain back in and put the skull back on.

We all covered him back up and slid him back into his slot. Sam took off his gloves swiftly and shot them into the garbage right when the door swung open and in walked the girl nurse and the guy nurse that gave us our inspections when we first arrived.

“What’re you four doing in here?” she asked, smiling.

We all kind of froze…then Dean pulled down his pants and threw his arms into the air. “Pudding!” he cheered and did a small dance with his feet as he grinned.

I was trying so hard not to laugh while Brit got a glimpse at Dean and blushed as her eyes widened and she turned her head away. “Alright. Come on you guys” the guy nurse said.

Dean pulled his pants back up and I was trying to hide my amused smirk but it was hard. “Crazy works” he whispered and we all walked out.

We got back to Martin and explained what we found out…it caused an idea to rise up. He took out his journal to show us a very ugly creature with tons of sharp teeth and straggly hair. “What is it?” Dean asked.

“A wraith” I answered with a sigh.

“You’re right” Martin told me. “They open skulls and feed on the brain juice, I should’ve thought of it…”

“Either of you ever tangle with one before?” Sam asked. “Never” Martin answered as I shook my head.

“My dad has but he didn’t tell me much about it…all I know is that it almost got him and after the case, he was pretty wrecked”

“So how do we kill it?” Brit asked.

“Silver”

“You so much as touch a wraith with the stuff, and the skin will crackle. Now that’s the good news. The bad news is…they can pass as humans. It could be any Peter, Paul, and Mary in the joint” Martin said.

“Fantastic. So how do we find it?” Dean asked.

“A mirror. Lore says a wraith will show it’s true form in a mirror”

“Okay. So we just gotta spot check every patient and every staff member”

“Okay. Yeah. But…I mean, what’s it doing in a mental hospital” Sam wondered.

“Nuthouses…it’s a perfect captive victim pool” I replied. “Sure. Who’s gonna believe a patient when they say they saw a monster?” Martin agreed. “It’s the perfect hunting ground” Brit finished.

So, we all split up and went to scope out the people. Brit came with me to the second floor and she took one wing while I took the other. I got to a corner where I could look up and stare into a big mirror that showed everyone’s reflection who walked by. So far, I got nothing but I didn’t take my eyes off the mirror. Elliot showed up at my side, leaning against the wall so we were only about a foot apart.

“What’s up doc?” I asked, still looking up at the mirror. “How about you tell me” he replied.

“Hunting…a wraith, actually. Two of them. Could be anybody”

“So, I could be a monster, then”

I analyzed him in the mirror. “Nope. You’re good”

Then, he looked up, into the mirror too and stared at me. “Why you?” he asked, genuinely curious. “I’m sorry?” I asked, not sure what he meant.

“Why do you have to be the one to hunt monsters? Why not let someone else do it?”

“I don’t think there’s anybody out there that dumb” I smirked. He continued to stare at me…as if knowing I had more to say…. “It’s my job…somebody’s gotta save people’s ignorant asses. Yours included…no offence”

“None taken…isn’t it the guys job to do the protecting though? You and Eddie…I see how he looks at you like he would do anything to make sure nothing would ever happen to you…but you don’t let him…”

“It’s the 21st century hon. The woman does all the saving now”

He chuckled a little and then I felt his eyes leave the mirror as he stared at me. I kept my eyes away from his, staying on the mirror. “So is there a quota? How many people do you have to save?”

“All of them”

“All of them? You think you have to save everyone?”

“Yep”

“How?”

I hesitated as I looked into his eyes. “You wouldn’t believe me…so why does it matter?” I whispered.

“If it matters to you it matters…and maybe I do believe you…but how would you know if you don’t let me in” he countered. “And trust me, whatever you’ve got, I’ve heard weirder” he added.

“It’s the end of the world, okay? And it’s a damn biblical apocalypse. And if De…Eddie and I don’t stop it, and save everyone, then no one will, and we all die” I said, lightly but my words were still a bit harsh.

“That’s terrible…I mean, apocalypse or no apocalypse…monsters or no monsters…that’s a crushing weight to have on both of your shoulders. To feel like six billion lives depend on you? God. How do you get up in the morning?”

I just stared at him for a minute. “That’s a good question…” I murmured.

“Am I interrupting something?” Brit asked as she came over to us. “Hello Lisa, how are you today?” Elliot asked her. “I’m okay for now” she smiled at him.

He smiled back, then gave me a kind of reassuring smile and then walked away. “Dean and Sam found something, they want us to meet up with them…you okay?” she asked, concerned. “Yea…yea I’m fine. Come on” I said and we headed for the elevator.

We met up with the guys downstairs and started to head for Martin’s room as Dean explained to us how he saw Dr. Fuller was one of the wraiths. “Okay, we still have to keep our eyes peeled though because there’s still one in hiding, we just have to watch our backs” I explained.

“I had to raid three nurses’ stations to get these. They’re only silver plated…they should work” Sam said and handed each of us a scalpel.

Then, when we looked up, we saw Wendy and Rick approaching us and they seemed to be going after Dean and Brit again. “Oh no, no, not today, sweetheart. Come on, keep walking” Dean said but she ignored him and just went for Sam.

He was very resistant as Wendy kissed him…and then I was pushed up against the wall as Rick started to give me sloppy kisses and I just went along with it.

“Okay, okay, that’s enough…you savages” Dean spoke up after a few seconds, muttering the last part as he pulled me apart from Rick.

I was a bit in a daze since I was definitely turned on by Rick…and as Rick and Wendy started walking away, holding hands…a thought occurred to me. Dean was the only one out of all of us to step in…I gave him a look. He avoided my eyes and felt Sam and Brit staring at us but I just kept my eyes on Dean.

We met up with Martin and told him how Fuller was on call tonight and we would all have to hit him after it was lights out…but Martin was completely against it. He just refused to give us backup, claiming he wasn’t like us anymore…how he wasn’t a hunter anymore. But, you cant just not be a hunter anymore. If you were a hunter once, you’re a hunter for life. I would know. But, he didn’t…and I could tell there was no changing his mind. We got to Fuller’s office and saw he wasn’t there but his keys were, which meant he was still in the building. They decided that Dean and I would go look around together this time while Brit and Sam went together. We knew he wouldn’t be on the second floor because that isn’t his area to work on so while Sam and Brit took the West wing, Dean and I took the east. We were kind of silent for the most part.

“So…”

“Please, don’t start with me, Dean” I sighed.

“You don’t even know what I was going to say” he defended.

“I don’t care what you say, as long as it has nothing to do with my suicide attempts” I said, using air quotes and rolled my eyes.

“I never said they were…”

“No, but you thought it”

“And so what if I had?” he questioned and grabbed my arm to stop me from walking and to face me.

I stared into his eyes. “Is it really so hard to believe that I’m worried about you? It damn well shouldn’t be”

I ripped my arm away from him. “You of all people should understand why I don’t…do the thing” I shook my hands a little and continued walking as he kept up.

“The thing…”

“The thing where I tell you all what’s going on in my head. It’s not safe in my head”

He stopped again, this time with a tighter grip on my arm. “Which is why I’m worried about you” he said, sternly, with his jaw clenched as he stared me down into my eyes.

“You of all people should know that it’s not safe in my head either. I know why you don’t tell anyone what you’re feeling because I know what you’re feeling. You and I are so much alike, it scares the hell out of me sometimes. So, when you tell me nothing’s wrong and that you’re fine, I let it go, I look passed it because really I know what’s wrong with you…most of the time…"

"But it never got this bad before so now I’m stepping in. You need to stop this. Stop speeding. Stop getting yourself into dangerous situations. Because it’s going to leave you dead, leave Sammy and Brit depressed and leave me crazy. I’ll be crazier than I already am. You’re what keeps me sane so even though there’s a big chance you’ll just come back, I cant risk it. I can’t risk losing you”

“Like when I lost you when you went to Hell?” I inquired with an attitude. But, I didn’t give him time to respond. “You’re going to lose me sooner or later, anyway Dean. Remember? The angels don’t expect me to make it past the apocalypse”

“Screw the freakin angels! Since when do you care what anyone says? Do you get what I’m saying? You make me stay sane…I need you here…”

He stopped and I saw how his eyes were getting watery. “I just…I’m just asking for you to cut down on the suicide attempts…when have I ever asked anything of you?” he asked. I just stared into his eyes with sad eyes.

I couldn’t even think of a response. I was kind of at a loss for words…but then I could hear some thumps and grunts. I could tell they belonged to Sam and Brit. “Come on” I said and quickly raced down the hallway in their direction as Dean followed.

We stopped short, though, hiding behind the wall, around the corner when we saw some big buff dudes, taking Brit and Sam into custody. Martin started to walk our way. We pulled him aside. He explained how the doctor wasn’t one of the wraiths and we followed to where they locked up Sam and Brit. After a while, the nurses came out, locked the door and walked away. We got to the door, I picked the lock quickly and we walked in, shutting the door behind us.

“You guys okay?” I asked as they were both sitting, limply on two separate beds that were side by side. “No” Sam answered. “I am not okay….I am…I am…awesome” Brit kind of slurred in a way.

“They give you something?” Dean asked them both. “Oh yea, they gave us everything” Brit grinned and giggled. “It’s spectacu-lacular” Sam added, happily

“You both were always were happy drunks” Dean said. “So true” I smiled a little, amused. Sam grabbed Dean to pull him closer.

“Dean. The doctor. He wasn’t a wraith”

“No, he wasn’t” Brit added, pouting.

“We know” we both said.

“I don’t understand it. I mean, I saw it in the mirror. It wasn’t human” Dean said. “Or you’re seeing things” Sam suggested. “Maybe you’re going crazy” Brit noted. “I’m not crazy…” Dean snapped.

“Well, come on…I mean you’ve been at least half-crazy for a long time. Since you got back from Hell, or since before that…” Sam explained.

“You too, Mel. I mean, with your weird, power thing going on…and with all that pressure you had, growing up. You were bound to just crack openly…you’ve been crazy ever since you were born…and we’re in a mental hospital!” Brit added and her and Sam bust out laughing.

“Maybe you both finally cracked. Maybe now, you are really…for real…crazy” Sam said. “I made a mistake. That’s all. I’ll find the things” Dean promised.

“Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I know…it’s okay. Hey, hey! Look at me. It’s okay! ‘Cause you’re my brother. And I still love ya. I love you both” Sam said and made sure he made eye contact with me.

“Yea, yea, yea…I love you both too…and people make mistakes” she stressed and then shrugged. Seeing them like this was the funniest thing…. “Boop” Sam said and touched the end of Dean’s nose. Then, Brit poked me in the stomach so I bent over a little and she grinned. I cracked a smile at her.

~~~
“Okay, split up, we’ll find the wraiths faster” I said, he agreed and we went in different directions.
I was walking at a fast pace, keeping an eye out for anything and everything. I bumped into Elliot though. “Careful there, Speedy” he said.
“Look, I know I missed our session or whatever, but I’m a little busy right now”
“Still hunting those wraiths”
“People are dying”
“People die all the time”
“Look man, why don’t you just let me do my job, maybe save your life”
“It’s not my life that I’m worried about”
“Oh my god! Look, I am fine, okay? I’m fine”
“Come on, you don’t even believe that. All this pressure that you’re putting yourself under? All this guilt? It’s killing you! You can’t save everybody. You can’t. Hell, these days you can’t save anybody, Melissa”
I froze in my spot. He knew my name. “What did you say?” I asked, slowly.
“The truth, Melissa! You’re the reason why Ellen and Jo got killed. You’re the reason why Dean went to Hell. You couldn’t stop Sam and Brittney from killing Lilith. And oh yeah, it’s your fault that Dean, the guy you love, had to deal with the guilt of breaking the first seal when it was supposed to be you in the first place..."
"All you ever do is fail. You don’t only fail yourself but you fail everyone around you. Did you really think that you, Melissa Stern, the daughter of William Stern, with a GED and the crazy demon powers, were going to beat the Devil? Please. The world is gonna burn and there is nothing that you can do about it”
My eyes hardened. “Who are you? How do you know that stuff?” I hissed, angrily. He didn’t answer. “Who are you!” I shouted.
He still didn’t answer. He just started to smirk. “I’m not real, Melissa. I’m in your head. Cause you’re going crazy”
I started to be aware of my surroundings and I saw few people were staring. I looked back to look at Elliot but he was gone. “You have to calm down” an orderly said to me but I just hurried in the other direction.
“Keep it together, Melissa. You are not going crazy. You are not going crazy. You are not going crazy…”
I stopped short when I saw a few nurses down the hall, I saw their reflections…they looked like wraiths. I looked down another hallway and saw a few people looked like wraiths as well. I felt my heart accelerating for some reason as my breathing became abnormal. I raced down another hallway and just collapsed into a corner. This couldn’t be happening…I couldn’t be seriously going insane….
