Secrets Will Kill You The Sequel

Endings Are Hard...But Nothing Ever Really Ends, Does It? Part 1

On April 21, 1967, the 100 millionth GM vehicle rolled off the line at the plant in Janesville…a blue two-door caprice. There was a big ceremony, speeches. The lieutenant governor even showed up. Three days later, another car rolled off that same line. No one gave two craps about her. But they should have, because this 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car…the most important object…in pretty much the whole universe. She was put into stock right beside a forest green pick up truck that would be known around the country for belonging to a legendary man…and between the pick-up and the Impala…lets just say, they will both go down in history. They were both first owned by Sal Moriarty, an alcoholic with two ex-wives and three blocked arteries. During the weeks, he'd drive around in the pick-up, doing labor, fighting through whatever Sal threw at it. The beautiful truck was fighting even before everything…all the while, on weekends, he’d drive around in the Impala, giving bibles to the poor, "gettin' folks right for judgment day”. That's what he said. Sam, Brittney, Melissa and Dean don't know any of this, but if they did, I bet they'd all smile because we all know how attached the boys have become to the truck and how attached the girls have become to the Impala. Who knew this story started with destined vehicles?

After Sal died, they stuck together through all the separations and work they were put through and still ended up at Rainbow Motors, a used-car lot in Lawrence, where two young marines bought them on impulse. That is…after a little advice from friends. I guess that really is where this story begins.

And here's where it ends...somewhat.

~~~~~
In Bobby’s salvage yard, I saw the front of my truck inches away from the front of the Impala as if they were about to kiss if they had lips. Brit was sitting on the hood of the truck while Sam was on the hood of the Impala and they were drinking beers as we walked over to them. I jumped up next to Brit as Dean joined Sam.
“Dean? Mel? Everything okay?” Brit asked us. “We’re in” I said as I curled my legs up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them.
“In with…?” Sam asked. “The whole "up with Satan" thing. We’re on board” Dean answered.
“You're gonna let us say yes?”
“No. That's the thing. It's not on us to let you two do anything. Sam, you're a grown…well, overgrown man…and Brit you’re…a grown woman in a tiny woman’s body…” She glared at him.
“If this is what you guys want, we'll back your play” I said, quickly, before our speech could get interrupted. “That's the last thing I thought you'd ever say” Brit said.
“May be…but I wont lie to you. This goes against everything inside us. Truth is…watching out for you guys…it’s been our job since forever…but it’s also just who we are. But you’re not kids anymore and we cant keep treating you like you are and I think we have grown up a little too” I gestured to me and Dean.
“I don't know if we got a snowball's chance. But...I do know that if anybody can do it...it's you two” he finished.
“Thank you” Sam said, gently, staring at his brother, then me.
“If this is what you want...is this really what you want?”
“We let him out…” Brit sighed slightly. “We got to put him back in” Sam finished.
“Okay…” Dean nodded. “That's it, then” I finished and shrugged as I smiled a warm smile at Brit, then Sam. This was it…we were really going along with this….
Night fell and we found some demons to drain their blood into some gallon jugs we had. I wasn’t okay with the idea of Brit and Sammy drinking the demon blood but now was definitely not the time to oppose to the plan. Bobby found some omens in certain spots but it was the temperature drop in Detroit that caught mine and Dean’s attention. It dropped 20 degrees only in a five-block radius of downtown Motown…but the Devil was in Detroit, that, we knew. So that’s where we were heading, with Dean, Sam and Cas in the Impala in front of me and Brit in the truck and with Bobby following us in his own truck.
“Brit…I’m nervous about this whole thing…”
“Well, you’d be insane to feel completely calm about this whole thing…”
“Well, come on. You know what I’m talking about…he always said he would jump yours and Sam’s bones in Detroit. Now, here we are…maybe it’s him rolling out the red carpet, ya know? Maybe he knows something we don’t…”
“Mel, I’m sure he knows a shit-load that we don’t. We just got to hope he doesn't know about the rings” I didn’t respond right away. “But, now that we’re on the subject…I think we should talk about something”
I waited patiently for her to continue. “If this whole thing really does go our way and Sam and I get him into the box…you know I’m not coming back. You know neither of us are coming back…”
“Because you wont let Sam go in alone. Because you love him and will never let him down without a fight…I’m aware” My insides twisted just at the thought, though.
“You have to promise me something”
I glanced at her. “Anything”
“You have to promise not to try to bring me back”
“Brit, I didn’t sign up for that. You’re hell will be nothing like Dean’s tour. You’re asking me to just sit by and do nothing?” I narrowed my eyes as I continued to glance at her.
“Once the cage is shut it will be too risky to go poking at it…you cant let Dean try either”
“We are not going to just let you guys rot in there. You cant ask me to do that”
“I’m sorry but I have to. You are going to let us stay there. You don’t have a choice”
My whole body just became tense as I gripped the steering wheel tighter. “What am I supposed to do, then?” I whispered as I felt my voice wanting to crack.
“You and Dean go find Jesse, Abbey and Chris. Get married, have barbecues, go to football games, school functions…have some normal, apple pie life. Please, promise me”
I didn’t answer though…I couldn’t. I couldn’t even think about it…I didn’t want to. I didn’t want that normal, apple pie life if I didn’t have Brit with me…but she wasn’t giving me that choice…since when do I ever get to choose anything, anymore, anyway?
~~~~~

“Demons. At least two dozen of them. You were right…something’s up” Bobby said, looking into the binoculars, looking up at an apartment building as we were all in an alley.

“It’s more than something…” Dean started.

“He’s here…I can feel him” I added…and it was true.

I could feel his presence…it was like nothing I’ve ever felt though. Something was going on and it made me feel sick. Then, I held back a little as Dean did the same and Sam and Brit faced Bobby and we walked over to the trunk of the Impala. Brit smiled but I saw some pain behind her eyes that she hid pretty well as she jumped into Bobby’s arms, hugging him.

“I’ll see you around, kid” he said to her, gently. Then, Sam got in on the hug. “See ya around” he spoke for her.

He put a hand on Sam’s shoulder and a hand on Brit’s shoulder so he could pull away slightly to look at them both. “He gets in...you fight him, tooth and nail, you understand? Keep swingin'“ he looked at Sam. Then, Brit. “Don't give an inch…keep at it until he’s the one begging for mercy”

“Yes, sir” they both responded.

Then, they moved to Cas and the emotional pain was become more visible. “Take care of these guys, okay?” Sam requested. “That's not possible” Cas replied lightly. “Then, humor me” Brit sniffled a little as she put on a small smile.

“Oh…I’m supposed to lie. Uhh…sure. They’ll be fine…” he faked a grin.

“Just…just stop talking” Sam said, shaking his hand in a very guy-like manner.

Brit and I both chuckled under our breath and she hugged him quickly before her and Sam came over to us and Dean opened the trunk of the Impala where the huge jugs of demon blood sat.

“Umm you guys mind not watching this?” Sam asked and I saw Brit wanted the same. We both nodded and walked a few feet away so we couldn’t see their faces.

I cringed slightly as I couldn’t help but hear them gulping the blood, taking in every single drop. Minutes later, the trunk slammed down and we spun to face them. I saw it in their eyes…anger…determination…power…some evil….

“Lets go” Sam said and they both just walked passed us to head to the building.

I was almost afraid to just look at them because I couldn’t see Sam and Brit anymore…they weren’t completely there. “All right!” Brit grunted, staring up at the building. “We're here, you sons of bitches! Come and get it!” Sam shouted to the rooftop.

Then, the door swung open, revealing four guys in suits with black eyes. “Hey, boys” I said, 'sweetly'. “Is your father home?” Dean asked.

Then, they all grabbed a hold of us and dragged us into the building, bringing us up a few floors and they flew a door open, dragging us into the room and there, in front of us, stood Lucifer, staring out the window.

“Hey guys. So nice of you to drop in” he spoke fluently, not turning around.

I didn’t know what was happening to me but I felt his power…I felt the vessel connection that he was having with Sam and Brittney…I felt vulnerable…weak…but more than anything, a part of me was feeling drawn to him. I never paid attention to it all the other times we’ve confronted him. But, this time was different…my demon part wanted to be on his side…to do his bidding…and that just added to the list of things to worry about.

The truck is just as important as the Impala but the Impala has been favorited over the years. It has all the things other cars have...and a few things they don't. But none of that stuff's important. This is the stuff that's important. The army man that Sam crammed in the ashtray…it's still stuck there. The Legos that Dean shoved into the vents…to this day, heat comes on and they can hear them rattle. The ripped off heads of the Barbie dolls that Dean and Melissa used to throw into Stacy Durango’s yard are still in a really secret compartment in the trunk. The glitter that Brittney and Melissa used to prank the boys when they were all reaching teenage years is still spread out across the backseat if you look closely. The initials ‘MS+DW’ are still carved into the backseat side door. The initials ‘MS+BH’ right next to ‘SW+DW’ are still on the backseat, under it’s covering. These are the things that make the car theirs…all of theirs…really theirs. Even when Dean rebuilt her from the ground up, he made sure all these little things stayed…even the doll heads…hes been planning on using them to just scare the hell out of Melissa someday…and when he found those initials carved into the car, he just couldn’t get rid of them…he couldn’t get rid of any of it, even the glitter…'cause it's the blemishes that make her beautiful. The devil doesn't know or care what kind of car the boys drive…he doesn’t care what kind of car it is that the girls feel absent-mindedly attached to.

~~~~~
Lucifer blew on the window in front of him so ice took over its outside. “Sorry if it's a bit chilly. Most people think I burn hot. It's actually quite the opposite” he said as he drew a picture of his signature pitchfork.
“Well, I'll alert the media” Dean said.
But, then he turned to face us and I felt Dean tense slightly. “Help me understand something, guys. I mean, stomping through my front door is...a tad suicidal, don't you think?” he questioned as he took a few steps toward us.
“We're not here to fight you” Sam said, keeping his tone steady as he stared Lucifer down.
“No? Then why are you?”
“We want to say yes” Brit said, strongly.
“Excuse me? Chock-full of oval tine, are we?”
But, then I watched as Sam and Brit shut their eyes to focus and then orange lights flickered from the demons heads and all four of them fell to the floor. “You heard her. Yes” Sam said.
“You're serious?”
“Look, judgment day's a runaway train. We get it now. We just want off” Brit said.
“Meaning?”
“Deal of the century. I give you a free ride, but when it's all over, I live, she lives, they live, you bring our parents back…” Sam started.
“Okay, can we please drop the telenovela? I know you have the rings, Sam” Crap.
This time, I tensed as well. “I have no idea what you're talking about” Sam stood his ground and him and Brit continued to show no emotion.
“The horsemen's rings? The magic keys to my cage? Ring a bell? Come on, Sam. I've never lied to you. You could at least pay me the same respect”
His eyes flicked to Dean…then landed on me and then went back to Sam and Brit. “It's okay. I'm not mad. A wrestling match inside your noggins...I like the idea. Just you two and me, one round, no tricks. You both win, you jump in the hole. I win...well, then I win. What do you say, Sam, Brittney? A fiddle of gold against your soul says I'm better than you”
When they didn’t respond right away, he looked at me again. “You’re invited too, Melissa…I know what you’re feeling toward me…” He started to come closer.
“The only thing I’m feeling for you is the fact that I’d give anything to rip you apart with my own hands” I sneered.
Dean grabbed a little bit of the back of the my shirt to keep me from lunging at the bastard in front of me. Lucifer chuckled. “Don’t be so impulsive to protect your lover, Dean. You wont be able to do it forever” He went to caress my face. I flinched away.
“Don’t worry, I wont hurt you…you are the one I wanted all along. Why do you think you have more power than anyone can imagine…you just have to know how to use it correctly…”
I stepped back a few steps, just wanting to get away from him completely. “So, he knows about the rings, it doesn’t change anything” Brit muttered.
My eyes snapped to her. “Brit…”
“We don’t have any other choice” Sam said.
“No…” Dean whispered.
“Yes” they both said to Lucifer.
He continued to smirk as a bright light took over the whole room and when it dimmed down, Lucifer was gone and Sam was on the floor while Brittney was just standing there, hanging her head.
I quickly gripped onto Dean’s arm and reached into his pocket to get the rings that were all still connected. I tossed the rings on the wall and they stuck and I held out my hand as I began to recite some Latin. Dean got to Sam’s side as the wall crumbled and was replaced with a black hole that was sucking in anything it could get.
“Sammy!” Dean grunted. “Dean! I can feel him!” Sam grunted.
I raced to Brit. “Brit?” I voiced. She raised her head and I just stared into her eyes. It wasn’t her anymore. “Dean” I inhaled sharply as I felt the tears rising. He didn’t hear me though.
“Okay, you gotta go now, Sammy!” Dean coaxed.
I watched as Sam nodded and walked toward the black hole. I looked back at Brit’s face and she started to smirk and she backhanded me across the face so hard, I hit the floor. Dean turned to look at me and Brit and then he looked back at Sam as he turned to face us with a smirk of his own.
“I was just messing with you. Sammy's long gone…and so is Brit” he said and faced the black hole again.
He spoke some Latin and the hole closed up as the wall was back in place. He took the rings into his hands. “I told you...this would always happen in Detroit”
Brit walked to his side, putting a hand on his chest and in the blink of an eye the two of them were gone. I got to my feet slowly and my hands went to my hair as the tears came to my eyes.
~~~

Cas, Bobby, Dean and I were on the sidewalk staring into the showcase of a store as a bunch of TV’s were on the news, talking about flooding, earthquakes and tornados across the country and around the world.

“It’s starting” Cas stated, walking a few feet away. “Yea, you think, genius?” Dean snapped, facing him.

“You don’t have to be mean”

“What do we do now?” I asked, monotonously as I faced him too.

“I suggest we imbibe copious quantities of alcohol...just wait for the inevitable blast wave”

“Swell. Thank you, Bukowski.” I said, sarcastically as I narrowed my eyes. “She means, how do we stop it?” Dean snapped slightly.

“We don't. Lucifer will meet Michael on the chosen field. Melissa will be called there and will have no choice but to be summoned. And the battle of Armageddon begins”

“Okay, well, where's this chosen field?”

“I don't know” Cas sighed.

“Well, there's got to be something that we can do”

“I'm sorry, Dean. This is over"

“You listen to me, you junkless sissy. We are not giving up! Bobby?” Bobby walked over to us with a grim look. “Bobby?”

“There was never much hope to begin with. I don’t know what to do”

Was this really how it was going to end? Was there really nothing we can do…no more hope anymore?
