Our Pasts Will Be Our Secrets

Teagan.

June 9th, 2007.

"Happy birthday honey." A black haired woman smiled to a red headed girl that was staring at her parents like they were insane. "It's not everyday my little girls turns sixteen, is it?"

"Shut up, mother. It's not like you really care. Neither of you do." The teenager spat, forcefully shoving her chair away from the table and flipped her parents off before shooting some very nasty words over her shoulder to the two people that brought her into this world.

"Teagan Renee Black. Get back in here and apologize to your mother." The fat man that called himself her father shouted at her. Teagan rolled her eyes and just kept walking, right out the front door of the trailer and into the hot Texas summer afternoon. Pushing her bangs out of her face, Teagan took of in a jog towards the trailer park entrance.

Smirking to herself, she slowed as she passed the gate to the trailer park and turned into the main street, heading towards downtown. She she got farther and farther away from the two people that pissed her off the most, the better she felt.

December 8th, 2007.

Enough. She had enough of the shit her parents where pushing on her. Bible college? Marrying a pastor? Having two point seven children? Teagan didn't get how you could have two point seven kids, the math just didn't work in her head. Then again, math never did.

"Yo! Black, what the hell?" Her friend Jeffery shouted from across the circle that was forming around herself and a nameless guy that had pissed her off that afternoon. It was below freezing and Teagan was standing in her jeans and sweater as the stared the obviously older boy down.

"Fighting, what does it look like?" She shouted back, ducking just as a punch went to her head. She popped back up and shot him a right hook, catching his jaw. Blood and spit hit her in the face as his head whipped around with the force of her punch. He staggered, but didn't fall. Before she saw it, his foot came up and kicked her in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her and forcing her to the ground.

Gasping for air, she got to one knee before she was kicked in the face and the world went black.

March 12th, 2008.

"Come on, hit me." The guy taunted, making Teagan glare and spit at his shoes.

"You're not worth the energy." She said, turning her back to him and walking off. She heard the crunch of gravel, meaning he was following her out of the tunnel.

"Come on, why not? Scared your prissy ass will be beat?" He taunted again, making Teagan stop and turn toward him. "Just like last time we fought." His black eyes sized her up and he spit off toward the side of them, then nodded at her. "You're weak."

She shook her head and ran at him, tackling him to the ground and straddled him, throwing punch after punch at his head. Blinded by rage that had suddenly overcome her, she threw punches that connected with the male's face and some with the ground. He eventually pushed her off and tackled her, not before she raised her foot and connected her combat booted foot to his jaw. She heard the snap of bone before she felt it.

He rolled off her, clutching his jaw and crying. She spit at him, then walked off, his band of loyal followers staring at her. One threw a rock at her and shouted she got lucky.

"Luck has nothing to do with it. I saw my chance and took it, nothing to do with luck." She replied calmly and left.

Present day.

Being woken at nine am was not something I appreciated. Especially after the beating I had taken last night, I just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep until the pain disappeared. But no, that damn doorbell of mine wasn't going to let that happen.

Rolling out of bed, I padded down to the front door of my apartment and opened the door. The person on the other side was clearly not impressed to find me in just my bra and pair of shorts with bed head, a huge black eyes, bruises all over my torso and a busted lip. The man just shook his head and handed me an envelope.

"Seriously? You couldn't leave this in the damn mailbox? That's what it's for, dumbass." I said before shutting the door behind his already retreating figure. Looking at the padded thing, I ripped open one side and shook out the contents. A DVD sleeve. Oh, exciting.

Sneering, I threw the contents onto the couch and went to back to my room. I dressed simply, just jeans and tank top, before coming back out to watch the mysterious DVD. Putting it in the player, I settled into my couch and watched as a creepy man's face came onto the screen.

"Hello. I'm Fredrick Mason. You, Teagan Black, have been selected to come to a newly discovered island and stay at our hotel for one week by yourself. We really would be honored to serve you and cater to your needs. On this disc you will find a printable brochure and information to contact us if you would like to come. Thank you."

Then the screen went black and the DVD popped out. Taking the envelope it came it, I flipped it over and saw a phone number to call. Reaching for the land-line, I dialed. When someone , or something picked up, I started.

"My name is Teagan Black, and I just got this DVD that said something about a free island trip for a week? Yeah, sign my ass up, I'm going. Hope you're ready for damn hard week."

Unlike everyone else, I have two photos for my character. Overachiever, much?
1 & 2

So my chapter, yes? Comments please, I wanna know how well I did.
I wanted to do this in third because it's mostly her past, she's lived it and it's a story of it. Present day was in first because it's what is going on now. Hope it makes sense now.
xo, Psychedelic.
