My Savior

Preface

I stood still, backed up into the same dark corner where I normally met up with some sort of peace. Her eyes found mine again, wild with shock. I was pretty sure that she was reflecting my own facial expression. Dark circles had formed under her eyes -- they must have been from all of her sleepless nights and sobbing sessions of worry from the news. Bubbles of fear slowly crept up my throat.
Speechless, I touched her stomach, and lowered my eyes in shame.
