He’s just that boy,
With that shaggy brown hair.
I’m just that girl,
That can’t help but stare.

He came up to me,
And all of my friends.
His always mesmerizing smile,
I couldn’t comprehend.

He spoke out to me,
Asking to hold my hand.
My friends all laughed,
And we left him there as if planned.

I looked over my shoulder,
And that boy was gone.
I went home crying,
And wishing I could fix what I’ve done.
I went back the next day,
Knowing I had made a mistake.
And there he sat,
Making my body shake.

I came up to him,
Asking to hold his hand.
He lit up with his same mesmerizing smile,
That I still can’t comprehend.

He held my hand in his,
As we sat down under a tree.
My “friends” passed by and laughed,
But they no longer bothered me.
