You Are...

You Are... Chapter 5

“Hey, do you want to go exploring with me?” Aubrey asked as we finished eating breakfast.
“Where?” I asked.
“I don’t know, wherever. We’re in a different state. There are things that we need to see,”
“Like what?” I asked laughing.
“Things,”
I laughed.
“Please,” she begged giving me puppy dog eyes.
I smiled. “Fine, fine, let me get ready”.
I took a quick shower and got dressed.
Aubrey and I were both ready within the hour.
“I’ll drive,” she said waling out of our dorm.
“Deal,” I said following her.
“Just the girls I want to see,” Shelby said coming out of her dorm.
“What’s up?” I asked smiling at her.
We’ve gotten closer to Shelby since the party.
“My bother is having a beach party and guess who’s on the top of list?”
“Leah,” Aubrey said nudging me.
“Stop,” I said rolling my eyes.
“It’s tomorrow around noon,” Selby said.
“Thanks,” I said.
“We’ll be there,” Aubrey said. “Noel asked me to go last night,”
“Cool. Where are you ladies going?” Shelby asked.
“Exploring!” I said chuckling.
“Need a third wheel?” she asked.
“Duh,” we said.
Shelby smiled. “Let me get my bag”. She quickly went to her dorm then came back out with her bag.
“Let’s go, ladies,” Aubrey said.
We left the dorms and headed for Aubrey’s car.
“Nice wheels,” Shelby said.
“Thanks, my brother fixed her up before I left,”
“Nice,” Shelby said getting into the backseat.
Aubrey started up the car and turned up the radio.
She started to drive while I found a good station to listen too.
Aubrey drove around near the Middlebury College campus for a while then she took us further into the country.
We passed by farms and a few little shops.
After a couple of hours on the road, singing and talking, we headed back to our school’s campus.
“Who wants food?” Shelby asked.
“Starving,” I said as my phone buzzed.
“Who’s texting you?” Aubrey asked.
“Either Bess or my mom,” I said opening my phone. “Or neither…it’s Pierce,”
“What did he say?” Shelby asked.
“Hungry?” I read as the girls laughed.
“Where is he?” she asked.
“I’ll ask,” I said typing back. “Shouldn’t you know where your brother is?”
“I’m younger than he is,”
“Whatever,” I said closing my phone.
“Didn’t we pass a pizza place?” Aubrey asked.
“Yea, American Flatbread, I think it was,”
“Let’s check it out,” she said taking out her phone. “Can you search for it?”
“Sure,” I said as my phone buzzed once again.
I quickly typed in the pizza place then opened my phone.
“Your brother is hanging out with Noel,”
“Tell him to join us at the pizza place,”
“No,” I whined.
“Yes, I want to see Noel,” Aubrey pulled over to the side of the road and took her phone. She texted someone then went back to her pizza directions.
“This is unfair,” I said texting Pierce back.
“Please, it’s a win-win,” Aubrey said.
“You two planed this didn’t you…?” I said.
“We did nothing,” Shelby said as we headed toward American Flatbread.
Once we were there we walked in and the man took us to our booth.
We were looked over our menus when Noel and Peirce came.
“Hey ladies,” Peirce said sitting next to his sister.
“Hey,” we said as Noel sat next to Aubrey.
They quickly kissed each other before looking over the menu.
“Hello Leah,”
“Hey Pierce,” I said not looking up from my menu.
“Are you coming to the beach tomorrow?”
“Maybe,” I said. “Okay, I know what I want,”
“Me too,” Shelby said.
“No fair,” Aubrey said as her and Noel looked over the menu.
I laughed and played with my empty straw wrapper.
“So, what do you mean by maybe?”
I looked up at him and he grinned. “If I come will you leave me alone?”
“No, you said we could be friends,”
“Touché,” I said as the waiter came.
We told him what we wanted and he told us that they should be ready soon.
The five of us talked and laughed as we waited for our food.
I caught Peirce looking over at me a few times as we talked.
Our food came and we seemed to do more talking then eating.
“I would defiantly come here again,” Shelby said stealing a slice of my pizza.
We all nodded and continued to eat.
Afterwards we left and went back to Middlebury.
“So, Leah,” Pierce said wrapping his arm around me.
“What?” I sighed.
“Are you coming?”
“Yes,”
“Really?”
“Yes,” I sighed.
“Great, I’ll see you then,” he said hugging me.
I slowly hugged back and smiled.
