All I Want For Christmas

one

Gia sighed heavily, taking a large step back from the now completed Christmas tree, standing ten feet tall in the corner of the living room. For a moment, she stared at it in admiration, in complete shock that she had managed to make the tree look as brilliant as she did all by herself.

Deep, rose colored garland wrapped around the plump, full green pine tree. The multi-colored red, blue, yellow, and green lights sparkled against the dark red colored tinsel of the garland, glinting brightly into Gia’s big green eyes, while colors danced upon the walls. Plenty of round, beautiful glass ornaments danged from the healthy branches, covering every empty space well. Then there was the star on top of the tree, golden colored with bright lights around the rim of the shape, which served as a huge problem on her behalf to try and get perfectly straight. However, the petite, fragile girl with auburn hair and big green eyes managed to successfully place it on the very tip-top of the tree.

Taking a deep breath, Gia looked around the empty, spacey living room. Against one wall was a huge entertainment center, a large flat screen television placed in the center cabinet with the doors shut, while the gentle hum of the radio on the shelf besides it played soft Christmas music. The white noise comforted her in a way, but not by much. On the opposite wall of the TV and such was a leather sectional couch, shaped like a V. The walls were decorated with light blue snowflakes and silver glowing garland, adding to the Christmas feeling that blessed the home with happy spirit.

Yet, Gia felt empty inside. She couldn’t help but look around the empty living room. That’s exactly what it was.

Empty.

She sighed and tied up her short auburn hair, a lazy bun quickly formed by her nimble, quick hands and fingers. The house was dimly lit only by the Christmas lights that wrapped around the railing of the overlook above and the tree. Gia couldn’t help but smile weakly before heading upstairs to fetch the presents she had wrapped earlier that day. There were plenty of them, each one covered in bright paper, glittering ribbons, and huge, dazzling bows.

Each one was labeled for the person they would go to: Matt, Johnny, Brian, Zacky, the girls, and—of course—Jimmy. When she reached the living room with the tree, she placed the gifts on the ground and began organizing them carefully around the base of the tree.

Once the presents were all laid out and properly placed, the tiny woman stood up and once again, admired her work. She sometimes felt like the modern-day Santa after working some of the miracles she did single-handedly. Sighing, she crossed her arms over her chest, blinking her green eyes at the scene before her: a tall, well decorated tree, tons of perfectly wrapped presents, stockings dangling over the fireplace, and a fantastically ornamented living room.

However, this isn’t where she had planned to be at 25 years old: single, alone on every Christmas Eve, and—to add a bit of a (cliché) twist—in love with her best friend, Jimmy. Now, she wasn’t complaining about everything she had accomplished. She had managed to get her foot in the door as a successful photographer, where she happened to meet the guys and become quite well-acquainted with them and their girlfriends. However, she always thought that by 23, she’d be happily married, with a baby or maybe one on the way. Instead, she stood in this huge, empty house of hers, decorating a gigantic tree all by herself and preparing for the short visits of the guys and girls before they left and spent the rest of the day with their own families.

Once again, Gia sighed heavily, her green eyes softening as she stared at the tree. So many presents under that tree, but none for family, none for herself. Gia was generally a bright, cheerful person around holidays, but this year, it felt very different from all the others before. Everyone around her was getting engaged or married, or at the very least, had someone there for them already. At 25, Gia at least expected to have a boyfriend. She didn’t even have that.

Suddenly, Gia’s ear caught the sound of her favorite Christmas songs, making her lips curl into a smile as she turned around and stepped towards the radio, turning the volume up. The short, petite girl with auburn hair couldn’t help but turn and start to sway and dance around her living room. She sang loudly in her empty house.

“I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas
Is you

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
And I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree

I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas Day

I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
You baby

Oh I won't ask for much this Christmas
I won't even wish for snow
And I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe

I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click

'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do?
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
You

Oh all the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air

And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need?
Won't you please bring my baby to me?

Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door

Oh I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is
You baby…”

Gia stared at the Christmas tree again, completely unaware that someone sang in unison with her now.

“All I want for Christmas is you baby
All I want for Christmas is you baby
All I want for Christmas is you baby…”

Gia felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist, a chin resting upon her tiny shoulder. She dropped her gaze, recognizing those tattoos anywhere.

“Jimmy!” She shouted, turning her head, unable to escape his clutch on her body. “H-how long were you standing there?”

“Long enough to hear that we shared the same Christmas wish,” he smirked playfully. “Will you be mine for Christmas, Gia?”

“Jimmy, I—” Gia turned and faced Jimmy now, who was smiling happily at the girl, his blue eyes sparkling through the bright Christmas lights of the living room.

“Merry Christmas, Gia.” Jimmy laid his lips against hers, taking her by total surprise. However, despite remaining in sweet shock for a moment, Gia quickly recovered and wrapped her tiny arms around his neck, pulling the man she loved closer.

The two shared a kiss, while music gently played in the background. The lights sparkled brightly on the walls, the sweet aroma of the pine tree filling the air, but the pair remained completely oblivious…

There was something that Gia had completely overlooked under the tree when she set the presents down.

There, with a glittering golden star, was a piece of paper in Jimmy’s hand-writing:

All I want for Christmas is you…

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYBODY.
There's more to come soon!
