Letters To Auden

Dear Auden,

Do you remember that day at the lake? Not the nice one, but the one that we joked that it was full of sewerage?. You pushed me in, while I still had my church clothes on. So, as punishment, I decided to pretend to drown. The look of shock on your face was absolutely priceless. You jumped in without a second thought, just like I knew you would. But by then, I had already hidden around the boat dock, trying to hold in my laughter as you searched frantically for me in the shitty water. But after 1 long minute of fun, at your expense, I felt bad for conning you. So I ducked under the water and went by you so that you would find me.
You dragged me all the way to the shore.

"Emmy, please wake up. I dont know what i'd do without you" You said, with tears in your voice

I slowly opened my eyes and they met with yours. They were cloudy grey and full of tears.
I lifted my hand to your cheek and replied,

"You know i'd never leave you Denny"

I never could. But you did.
