No one knows why Krista killed her mother or her aunt to this day. She had gotten the gun from her mom’s nightstand, that reason is also unknown. The cuts on Anya’s hands were from when she tried to help Rebecca revive her mom and there were fragments of glass on Jennifer’s chest when Anya pushed down on it.
It was found in an entry of Krista’s diary that she killed Rebecca because Rebecca had figured out that Krista had done it. Since Anya walked in when she did, Krista had no choice but to kill her too. To avoid getting caught, she shot herself in the shoulder. It is also a mystery of why she wrote “You can’t catch me” on each of her murder scenes. And it is true, she was never caught.
Krista disappeared shortly after killing her aunt and was never found. The only way the police discovered it was Krista who was the murderer was the diary she left behind that held her plans for her family’s murder.
