Anise Monroe is a sixteen year old senior at St. James High School. She's adopted, her mother left her on a young couple's doorstep just weeks after she was born. She doesn't speak, afraid that she'll say something wrong to the wrong person. She's picked on every day because of how smart she is, and that she's not with her own age group. She's afraid of nearly everything, especially the girls at school. She has no idea what they're planning at the Christmas Dance, and her life is about to take a turn for the worse. What will happen? Will she live through the humiliation, or end it all?
