Chapter 43-4.

“Pa!” She called to her husband, her eyes still glued on the television.“Pa, may tao!!”

Agad niyang binuksan yung gate. “Oh, kumpare, napadalaw kayo? Pasok, pasok.” He invited the guests in with a warm smile. Sila, Mr. And Mrs. Sanchez, mga parents ni Max.

Mrs. Dimaculangan heard the familiar voices outside. She reached for the remote and gradually decreased the tv’s volume. Mrs. Dimaculangan was always fond of Max’s parents, humble kasi sila despite their apparent status at sobrang daling pakisamahan ng mag-asawang yan. “Oh, li’kayo...” Mrs. Dimaculangan opened the door and ushered their guests to come in. “Ano bang aten? Teka, kukuha ko kayo ng maiinom.”

“Naku, mars.” Mrs. Sanchez said upon sitting down. “Wag na. Nagmamadali din kami, actually...” She threw a look on her husband. “... Meron kasi kaming kailangan asikasuhin sa Hong Kong. Biglaan ee.” Her voice was soft as though hiyang-hiya itong magsalita. “Ee, gusto lang sana namin ipakiusap si Darren. Mga apat na araw din kasi kaming mawawala. Walang kasama yung bata sa bahay kung hindi yung bagong maid.”

Napangiti ang mom ni Ellie. They all knew how overprotective Mrs. Sanchez could be, lalo na pagdating kay Max. By the looks of it, ayaw iwan ni Mrs. Sanchez ang anak sa bagong katulong.

She slightly frowned as she recalled the argument she had with Max that morning. And she went on with her endless concern with her son. Mejo sanay naman na si Mrs. Dimaculangan, especially when this wasn’t the first time na pinagbilin sakanila si Max.
Your prince will come.
He may not be riding a white horse, or have a big castle.
But he'll want only you & that will be better than any fairytale.

Eleonor Malicsi Dimaculangan found herself seating alone in Starbucks, playing with the empty glass of Java Chips she just had earlier. Kauuwi lang nila Meg at Jill, since it was starting to rain alam niyang mahihirapang makauwi ang mga ito if they stayed. Si Borge naman sinundo na ni Nico. Dapat sasabay na din siya kela Jill, if only Max didn’t call her up to say na susunduin siya nito. Ellie wanted to object, lalo na’t alam niyang siya lang mag-isa maiiwan dito... and to think Sef and his evil minions were still there as well... but Max sounded so serious. “Umuulan,” He said in his usual domineering voice. “Mahihirapan kang sumakay pauwi. Susunduin kita jan, I’m on my way!” At wala ng nagawa ang dalaga but to wait for him.

Paano ka nga ba titingin without letting her know na tumitingin ka?

He has been throwing quick glances at her direction, but his glance turned into one long stare. Ellie has her elbow propped up on the table as her chin rested against her hand while she was playing with a straw. Tapos biglang lumingon ang dalaga sa labas, she would look anywhere except at him and that annoyed Sef to no end. It was as if, she doesn’t care whether he was here or not.

“Ow,” muttered the girl beside him. Sef’s arm was around her waist, he couldn’t even remember her name. He wasn’t sure whether it was Anna or Tanya. “You have something on your...” She placed a hand on his cheek, willing him to face her. “Huh?” He has few bread crumbs in the corner of his lips. Anna or Tanya or whatever her name is smiled sheepishly at him as she brushed the dirt off Sef’s tempting lips. “Thanks.”

And the moment Miguel Josef Uy Monteverde tore his gaze from Ellie, it was when Ellie’s eyes drifted towards him.

Tama na, Ellie... Ellie was telling herself while watching Sef gave the girl a soft smile, seemingly enjoying himself in her company. I told you, this was gonna happen!! It was her mind doing the scolding. Her heart tried to reason out. Ha.Ha. Wag mo kong patawanin Eleonor! Wala kang ginawa!! WALA!! Ellie could only look away and then prayed na sana... sana dumating na si Max.

Ellie thought, mas okay na yung ibinalik ni Sef sakanya yung sulat and would tell her personally that he couldn’t return her feelings. Mas madaling matanggap yun ee... hindi yung ganitong... He didn’t speak a word pero sobra niyang pinaparamdam na... na ayaw niya sa kin!!

“Hala,” Paul then said, looking out the window. “Umuulan pala!!” Then he recognized Ellie sitting near by the window pane. “Wait a minute,” Paul muttered more to himself. “Sef, hindi ba... yun yung Clown mo?”

With that, napalingon tuloy yung girl na kasama ni Sef kay Eleonor. “Clown?” She asked, even though alam naman talaga niya yung rumors na kumalat noon sa GWAPS tungkol kay Sef at sa Clown Girl na yun. She studied Ellie. Walang make-up, short hair, boyish look, parang tomboy... it was a very disappointing appearance for her. There was no way someone like Sef would have asked a girl like that. Walang taste sa fashion! She smirked, feeling prettier than ever especially when Sef was sitting next to her, his hand resting at the back of her chair.

Jerry, who was also there, saw the dangerous look on Sef’s eyes. Bakit ba parang nagiiba siya especially when that... girl is involved? Jerry thought suspiciously. Sa totoo lang, parang Jerry has a pretty good idea why... pero... he doesn’t like the answer he has right now. Maybe he was wrong... no, he had to be wrong!!

“Guys,” Jerry then said, trying to save Paul’s stupid ass all over again. “Say, we hit the road now? Siguradong hinihintay na tayo nila Ivan.” Actually, for the past few days, lagi na ulit sumasama si Sef sa mga gmik nila Jerry. Lagi na ulit siyang present. He was back to being the Sef everyone knew - the Sef who party all night, who drinks to no end, who goes out with different women every day... Yung usual routine niya kapag merong... kinakalimutan. Syempre, si Lianne pa rin yun!

“Yeah, good idea!” Paul quickly stood up from his seat. Si Sef tahimik lang na tumayo as Anna or Tanya pulled him up on his feet. “Let’s go.”
Nag-double parking na lang si Darren Max Sanchez and decided to turn his emergency lights on. Mabilis lang naman siya ee, bababain lang niya si Ellie then they’re off to go. He went down his car and covered his head with his hands as the rain poured down heavily. He ran towards the entrance door at saktong-sakto when the guard pushed the door open, grupo ni Sef ang bumulaga sakanya. Nakilala siya agad ni Paul, who just gave him a sharp look bago siya sumugod sa ulan at pumasok sa passenger seat ng sasakyan ni Jerry. But it was Sef whom he exchanged an angry glance with at mas lalong sumama ang timpla ng muka ni Max when he noticed the girl na nakakapit sa braso ng binata. The first thought Max had in mind was that, how Ellie was doing. Max had the impulse to break Sef’s nose with one punch... pero hindi niya ginawa yun since he was more concerned about Ellie right now.

Pumasok na si Sef at yung kasama niyang girl sa dark-gray na Volvo niya, na naka-park right in front of the entrance door ng Starbucks. Yeah, kahit yung Pajero hindi muna niya ginagamit ngayon. Sef started the engine and realized na hindi pala siya makakalabas, may kotse na naka harang sa driveway – yung kotse ni Max.

Max hastened his pace inside Starbucks; he whirled around and immediately saw Ellie by the window. He approached her, “Ellie.” He muttered her name ever so softly and to his surprise, parang may kumurot sa dibdib niya as Ellie greeted her with a wide smile. Max knew that smile. Boy, he knew that!

Because there are only two reasons why a GIRL smiles – either she's in love or... she's hurt.

“Ang tagal mo!” Ellie whined as she playfully smacked him by the arm. “Kanina pa siguro ako nasa bahay kung hindi mo na ko sinundo nuh!”

Max simply nodded. “Sorry.” And he meant it.

Ellie’s eyes saddened for one split second. “Sus.” She then beamed, her smile widened even more. “Sorry, sorry ka jan! The damage has been done. HAHA. O ano tara na nga!!”

For the first time, after two years ng pagluluksa ni Sef kay Lianne... he felt something in the insides of his chest reacted violently... habang andun sya sa loob ng Volvo pinapanuod si Ellie at Max na siyang kalalabas lang sa Starbucks... Sef felt like jumping out the car and pull Ellie away and drag her with him... especially when Max took Ellie’s school bag from her as he protectively placed his hand over Ellie’s head na kala mo payong ito, and they both run towards Max’s waiting car.

Pero walang nagawa si Sef...
Hininaan ni Max yung stereo ng kotse niya, but Ellie beat him to it as she slapped his hand. “Wag, favourite ko yan!” She said, when the song of Bruno Mars: The Lazy Song boomed out the speakers.

“Today, I don’t feel like doing anything ~” Kanta ni Ellie, with matching sway-sway pa ng ulo sabay sa beat. She was sitting comfortably beside Max, nakataas pareho ang kanyang paa sa upuan and she still has her plastic smile on her face, like she was completely FINE... like there was NOTHING wrong with her... or better yet, parang WALANG nangyari sa Starbucks kanina. “I just wanna lay in my bed ~ Don’t feel like picking up my phone, so leave a message at the tone ~ ‘Cause today I swear I’m not doing anything...”

Max almost smirked. “Bagay nga talaga sayo yang kanta.” Umiiling-iling na sabi nito habang nakatingin sa daan.

Ngumiti lang si Ellie but still continued with her singing... well more like, shouting. HAHA. [color="#8B0000"]“Tomorrow I’ll wake up, do some P90X...” This time, meron ng hawak-hawak na invisible microphone ang dalaga and she playfully placed her clenched hand before Max, willing him to sing along with her.

“Find a really nice girl, have some really nice... ~ And she’s gonna scream out ~ This is great.” Tuloy naman ni Max, grinning widely. “Oh my god, this is great!” He then sang in a girly voice, trying to mimic the 2nd voice in the song. Sobrang natawa si Ellie... and the car was filled with the two’s singing voices and endless laughter.

Until, Max has to really decrease the volume nung stereo ng narinig niyang nagri-ring yung phone nya. He took it out from his pocket and handed it to Ellie. “Oh, sagutin mo nga muna.” He said as he changed to third gear.

Ellie took the phone and saw AJ’s number flashing on the screen. “Hello?” She answered, but to her surprise, hindi si AJ ang sumagot sa kabilang linya.

“Eleonor?” It was her mom.

“Ma?” Ellie called with slight bewilderment. “Bakit?”

Max’s attention was divided between the road and Ellie.

“Apat na araw?” Max was listening. “Ee teka yung mga gamit ko?” Ellie asked. “Ah, ok. Sige. Sige. Opo. Akong bahala! Oo, ma... hindi ko iiwan, kahit sa pagtulog!! Gusto pa ni Tita paliguan ko pa toh ee. Ipagtitimpla ko pa ng gatas, at lalagyan ko din ng lampin. HAHAHA.” She laughed. “Opo. Okay. Sige, ba-bye. Love u ma. MUAHS.” With that, she dropped the call and returned the phone with a wide grin plastered all over her face.

Max gave her a questioning look before eyeing the road again. “Bakit? Ano sabi ni Tita?”

Ellie’s grin widened even more.“Wala naman.” She said mockingly. “Baby sitter mo lang naman daw ako ng apat na araw.”

“Baby sitter?” Max frowned but it was soon replaced by a satisfied smile, as though he was pleased with the very thought of it. His mom could be very overprotective na tipong exaggerated na at some points... but then, for once... as in ngayon lang, Darren Max Sanchez couldn’t help feeling THANKFUL to his mom. HAHAHA.

FOR THE WIN!!NYAHAHAHAHA...
