“Dude Superman sucks!”

“Spiderman sucks”, Danielle said pointing the finger back. “All he does is bitch and wine, I wish I was a superhero. I don’t know what’s going on with my awkward body, I’m a pussy ass bitch”, Danielle said with a boring tone causing the boy in front of her to laugh.

“Superman is so boring!” Garrett yelled back as the two sat on his bed. “He always fucking wins, he can do everything!”

“Well Superman could totally kick pussy boy’s ass.”

Garrett let out a laugh looking into Danielle’s beautiful brown eyes. They had spent over two hours discussing comics and superheroes, something he wouldn’t have been able to do with another girl. Garrett loved conversations like this with Danielle; she was the only person what seemed to be on this Earth to not think Garrett was the weirdest guy on this Earth.

“So what did you do last night?”

“Went out to some club with Amanda”, she said as the two did the same look on their face. “It was fun, ran into John and the guys. It was a good night”, she said and at the sound of John Garrett couldn’t help but to get jealous.

“Danny”, Garret said with a small voice. “Could I ask something really personal?”

Danielle nodded her head as Garrett took in a deep breath; sex was a very taboo topic between the two. Neither of them wanted to think about each other’s sexual life. The thought of Garret having sex with some girl was disturbing to Danielle; no girl was good enough for her Gary. And Garrett’s view on Danielle having sex was something completely different yet very similar. He hated the fact that any guy would touch her body, besides his own hands.

“Did you and John have sex?”

This topic has been on Garrett’s mind all day; he just didn’t have the balls to ask. The thought of someone like John having sexy with someone as beautiful and perfect as
Danielle made Garrett sick, but he got his answer quicker than he thought. When he noticed the slight blush on Danielle’s face he couldn’t help but to feel sick to his stomach.

“Yeah”, Danielle said embarrassed and she noticed the look of disgust in Garrett’s face.

“Oh.”

Danielle could feel the disappointment on his face and she couldn’t shake it off so she changed the subject.

“What are you doing tonight?”

Garrett simply shrugged, he wasn’t too sure what he was going to do but even if he did he would cancel them all if that meant he would be spending time with Danielle. “I don’t know, why what’s up?”

“Helena’s having her recital at school today and I don’t want to endure the torture alone so I thought maybe you’d want to go”, she said looking up at Garrett’s face and she couldn’t help but to notice how beautiful his eyes were.

“So if you’re going down you want to bring me down with you?”

“Exactly”, she said with a laugh. “Best friends won’t let their friends drown alone.”

Garrett couldn’t help but to laugh as he nodded his head with a smile. “I’d love to go with you.”

Danielle couldn’t help but to smile as she jumped on the boy with a grin wrapping her arms around his shoulder. The two fell back on his bed as his arms were wrapped around his waist. Danielle always loved cuddling with Garrett; she thought he was so comfortable. As they lay in his bed, her head on his lap as he absent mindedly ran his fingers through her hair. Garrett felt so comfortable with the girl in his arms; he just wishes it could stay like this forever. When Danielle’s phone started to ring she didn’t move from where she was at Garrett continued on running his fingers through a very relaxed Danielle.

“Hello”, she heard her say as he closed his eyes. “Oh hey, what’s up?”

Garrett continued to close his eyes as Danielle started to make shapes on his arms. If you didn’t know their status you’d think that Danielle and Garrett were more than friends, something he wish would happen.

Danielle was comfortable in Garrett’s arms as she tried her hardest to pay attention to the voice on the other line.

“What are you up to?” she heard John ask and she couldn’t help but to smile.

“I’m lying in bed with Garrett.”

John stopped breathing for a second and he couldn’t help but to think about what had happened before he called or what was going to happen when he hung up. There was that feeling building up in his stomach, that jealousy thing he wasn’t use to.

“Oh cool”, he said trying to keep his composure. “What are you doing later today?”

He was hoping that she had no plans and they could hang out but his hopes were being burnt down by a certain pair of red heads. “Gary and I are going to my sister’s recital and then probably hang out, why?”

“Oh nothing”, John said suddenly as Danielle wrapped a leg around Garrett’s leg. “What are you doing tomorrow?”

“I don’t know yet”, she said honestly. “I have work in the morning but I’m off at 5.”

“Did you want to do something with me?” he asked nervously.

Danielle couldn’t help but to let her heart beat faster as excitement rushed through her veins. The smile on her face was bigger than ever, but she tried her hardest to regain her composure.

“Yeah, that sounds good.”

“Alright, I’ll pick you up around 7?”

“Sounds good.”

When they both hung up a smile was spread on each other their faces. She placed the phone back down on Garrett’s stomach before leaning into him.

“What was that about?”

Danielle couldn’t hide the smile that was on her face so she opted on not showing him her face. “John wanted to hang out tomorrow.”

“Nice.”

Garrett’s heart was crushed at the words but like he had to many times before he calmed himself. He tried his hardest to regain his composure before nodding his head as though she could see.

“That’s cool.”

That was all that was on Garrett’s mind, it was like a plague that was spreading throughout his body. From his fucked up head to that broken heart that was in his chest, he wasn’t the same person. As they sat there with The Bailey’s, he couldn’t keep his eyes off of Danielle. John wasn’t good enough for her; he was just going to hurt her all over again. Why couldn’t Garrett be like John? Why couldn’t Garrett be the one she wanted? Here he was with her head on his shoulder but he was nothing but a friend and would be nothing more than that.

“You did good H-bomb”, Garrett said as he hugged the younger girl. “I didn’t know you were such a dance machine.”

“Did I do well?” she asked looking up into his blue eyes.

“You did amazing”, he said with a smile as the girl looking up at him with the biggest grin.

With one last hug she walked off to her parents leaving Danielle standing there with a smile. She couldn’t help but to laugh as Garrett turned his attention back on Danielle that was standing there with a laugh.

“What?”

“Helena totally has a crush on you”, she said as Garrett rolled his eyes. “Please keep your hands off my little sister; I know she’s adorable but jail isn’t the place for a pretty boy like you.”

“Oh shut up”, he said as he wrapped and arm around her shoulder. “If only your sister was 5 years older.”

“Then what?”

“Then I’d be your brother in law”, he said with a wink causing Danielle to hit his chest with a laugh. “What?”

“You’re dumb.”

“Why?”

“Just are”, she said with a hint of jealous in her words. “She’s only thirteen, creep!”

“I could wait.”

Danielle rolled her eyes as they made their way out to the car following her parents and little sister. Danielle looked up at Garrett’s eyes with a smile. “Do you really think you could marry my little sister?”

“Why not?”

“Because”, she said with a roll of her eyes. “You’re suppose to marry me.”

Garrett couldn’t help but to feel his heart beat faster and his cheeks burn up. He found it harder and harder to walk normally. He looked down at her with a smile before rolling his eyes.

“Yeah right”, he said playing it off. “Why would you marry me?”

“Because you’re a good guy”, she said with a laugh. “And besides it’s already been plan, my parents have already taken you in as my fiancée. You’re going to marry whether you want to or not.”

“Awwh man”, he said with a pout making Danielle laugh.

“Tough luck.”

Garrett couldn’t help but to laugh it off, but inside he was jumping with joy. He looked down at those brown eyes with a smile. Every time he thinks his chances with Danielle was less that possible, she says something to keep his hopes up.

Maybe I have a chance.

That moment he decided if he had to fight John for his dream girl he would. He wasn’t going to stand by and watch John get the girl again. He wanted Danielle and he wasn’t going to let her fall out of his grasp. That night was the start of even more complications.
