It's Never Gonna Be Too Late.

He Isn't So Bad After All.

Alex's POV.

The next morning became another of silence.
Frank and Ashe were the popular two of the bunch.
When they came back onto the bus last night, everyone stared.
That happened every time they came on the bus.
But neither of them cared.
They silently slept across from Mikey and I.
With the curtain drawn infront of the two of us, I couldn't tell who was awake and who wasn't.
Mikey's arms were wrapped around my waist.
His head rested on my shoulder blade as he enjoyed his last few minutes of rest.
I lightly tapped his upper leg, letting him know I was getting up.
He rolled to the other side and continued sleeping.
I sat on the couch, yawning during the process.
Looking up, I saw Bob was awake as well; he was the only other one.
He stared at me as I looked away to the ground.
I couldn't help myself and made eye contact with him again, becoming lost in his blue eyes.
"I'm sorry," I blurted out. "Sorry for everything."
His face showed no expression.
He thought and wouldn't look away from me.
"You say that, but do you really mean it?"
I was caught off guard.
I didn't know how to answer his question.
"I think I mean it. Everything happened so fast. Half the time I was unsure of what I was doing, unsure of what my feelings were. My feelings took an uncontrolable turn. I guess there's nothing left I can do now."
"I don't know what to say. You tell me everything happened fast and you didn't know what went on, but I think you do. You had every intention of hooking up with Mikey. I don't know if I can believe you."
He was going to continue to hold his grudge against me.
"Listen, I'm going to tell you right now," he began. "I do still have feelings for you, but I won't interfere with you and Mikey. Like I should, I'm going to let the two of you work things out however you need to. This isn't worth all the trouble it's caused. But I'd like to get off this subject. Do you want coffee or anything?"
I absorbed all he said.
I nodded, unable to speak just yet.
You still love me, I thought.
I looked over to my bunk and saw Mikey calmly breathing.
As Bob handed me the coffee mug, my stomach felt uneasy.
I didn't want my feelings to take that uncontrolable turn again.
