Chapter 44
Analeigh’s POV
When I finished cleaning and after I had made a couple of pies, Mom arrived home and stood in the kitchen door, looking around shocked
“what in the hell happened?” she asked, I looked around frowning, did I miss something?
“What?” I asked, she sighed and placed her purse on the counter
“did something happen between you and Paul? You do this when you’re upset” she pointed out, I sighed and shook my head
“I have no idea, he is off doing something and I think it’s something dangerous, he’s been keeping something from me for over a week now and I know it’s important but he hasn’t told me and has even lied to my face, I’m worried Mom” I confessed, Mom gave me a small smile then came over to hug me lightly
“honey, I think that if he was hiding anything from you then it was for your protection, not because he doesn’t trust you or anything” I nodded
“I know that but it still kinda hurts that he couldn’t tell me and he didn’t trust me, he didn’t trust that I would do as he told me to if he told me something was wrong” I bit my lip as I looked at her and she sighed, frowning
“honey, it will be fine, you know Paul wouldn’t want to put you in any stress which is probably why he kept it from you, go lie down and rest ok” I nodded and she gave me another hug before letting me go to my room.
Walking in my room I dropped onto my bed and picked up my phone, there were still no messages, I bit my lip before flicking through my contacts and stopping on Kim’s number, she was younger than me but we had still become friends.
I dialled her number and waited for her to pick up
“hello?” she answered, a hint of worry in her voice
“hey Kim, it’s Ana, I’m guessing you haven’t heard from Jared” I heard her let out a shaky breath
“no and he has usually come to see me or at least called by now, I’m worried” I could hear tears in her voice, I nodded though she couldn’t see
“I know, I am too, Mom told me we have to trust them though” Kim chuckled
“why would we trust them to do anything? They always get into trouble” I laughed this time
“yeah they do tend to, they have a knack for it” we both laughed before it tapered off and we became quiet
“you don’t think anything happened with the Cullen’s do you? Jared was talking to someone about them the other day” she told me, I perked up slightly, raising a brow
“really?”
“yeah, something about them needing help” I sighed, shaking my head
“yeah, I bet it has something to do with them or more specifically that girl Jacob likes who is with one of them”
“Bella? She’s kind of... odd”
“I wouldn’t know, I haven’t met her” I told her as I picked at the bed spread, she snorted
“you’re not missing much really, she isn’t a very sociable person and seemed kind of depressed, she was very emotional about that Cullen leaving her she told me, I smiled
“sounds like she’s as bad as us then” she laughed
“yeah but we have lives as well, it seemed more like her life completely revolved around him” I winced
“that sounds kind of desperate” Kim hummed
“tell me about it, so what have you done today? I wasn’t allowed to leave the house” I chuckled
“what a coincidence, I wasn’t either” Kim groaned
“this sucks, I’m bored as hell” I laughed before I glanced at my laptop and a grin came to my face
“hey, have you got IM?” she giggled
“of course I do” I smiled
“good, add me and we’ll talk on there”
“good idea, tell me your address” I did so as I got up and turned on my laptop.
Once it was loaded and I was signed on, Kim and I started talking about different things, I also helped her with some homework she had due the next day. We exchanged pictures of different things and for the first time today I actually had a good time.
