Forever and Always

Paul’s POV

Ok so I was nervous as hell and I had no idea why.

I was giving Analeigh her own woven bracelet today, our version of a promise ring, and I was nervous about it. I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with her, she knew it, I knew it, everyone knew it so why am I so nervous?

I looked down at the bracelet and sighed, I really didn’t know. I examined the brown leather bracelet (http://www.cuffbraceletheaven.com/files/1565692/uploaded/Brown-wrap-leather-bracelet-copy-copyX.jpg) I knew that I would be making it so that she could never take it off; I didn’t want to ever see her without it on. Not that she would take it off; I would hope I never drove her to that.

I grinned at the image of her wearing it in my head; she would look so amazing in nothing but my bracelet.

I smiled down at it before getting to my feet and moving through the house. Analeigh had gone to work today, thinking it best to go in and get through the paperwork and stuff that had piled up in the time she had been off because of the might have been fight that never actually happened which I was glad about, I was growing tired of having to fight vampires I mean yeah it’s kind of a good feeling knowing that you’re stopping this thing from hurting innocent people but then the risks involved and the pain it put Ana through are just not equal in my book.

I exited the house and made my way over to Sam’s, he had wanted to see me today along with Quil, Jacob and Jared.

Entering the house I saw that the others were all there so sitting down I asked

“so what’s this about Sam?” he came out of the kitchen and took a seat with the rest of us before giving a smile, something kinda rare

“I wanted to know what you guys thought of what’s going to happen now because I know exactly what I’m going to do” he told us, I looked at him curiously

“and what are you going to do?” Quil asked, Sam grinned

“I’m giving up changing” he stated, we all stared at him in shock

“but you’re the Alpha!” Jacob exclaimed, Sam nodded

“I know but I want to concentrate on Emily now and the life we’ll have together, now this vampire business is over I’m giving it up, I know the pack can survive without me, I just wanted to know if you thought of doing the same thing” he asked.

Jared shrugged,

“can’t say I haven’t thought about it, if I stay a shifter much longer Kim will age more than me, I just figured we were waiting until after the Cullen’s had left to decide this” he said, I nodded in agreement

“so did I, Ana and I even discussed it” I told him. Sam looked at me amused

“you discussed it? So you’re actually listening to somebody?” he teased, I glared at him then shrugged

“I love Ana and I would love to stop being a shifter so I can age with her, have a family and everything like normal though I doubt we will ever be normal, because we know from the stories that even if we grow old we still have the capability to change if we have to” I reminded them of the legends. They all nodded then there was silence.

Jacob broke it first

“well I’m going to keep changing, I have to stay young so I can be there for Nessie” he told us, Quil nodded

“yeah, I’m staying one until Claire is old enough to decide what she wants, if she wants me then I’ll stop, if she doesn’t then I won’t and I’ll just watch over her for the rest of her life” he said. Sam smiled and nodded

“that is good, it means that you will be around for a while and look after things for me” he then turned to me and Jared “what do you guys think?” he asked, Jared shrugged and looked at me

“I have to talk to Kim” he said, I returned the nod

“yeah and I’ll talk to Ana” I then turned to Sam “have you talked to Emily about it?” I asked. Sam grinned and shook his head

“nope, I thought I would surprise her, it doesn’t take a genius to know that she would be happy for me to stop being a wolf and putting myself into dangerous situations, plus we know it doesn’t take long for the affects to wear off once you decide to age thanks to Leah deciding to stop a while ago. I found out that her body is already changing back to the normal human pattern though she says her temp is still high and she needs to eat more still which to be honest is not the worse things that could have stayed” he joked. We all chuckled before Quil got to his feet

“well I’m going, I’m picking Claire up from pre-school today” we all nodded and bumped fists as he left.

I got to my feet next and grinned at them all,

“I’ll see you later, I got to go home and get a girl to agree to marry me one day” I told them, they whistled while Jacob winked

“the bracelet?” he asked, I nodded and he whistled as well

“well good luck, not that you need it, that girl is infatuated with you” I grinned and slapped his hand before bumping fists with them all then leaving.

I arrived back at the house and saw that Analeigh was already home.

I walked into the house and saw her curled into the large arm chair she got me which now also had a big cushion on it that she liked to hug to herself.

She looked up when I came in and a smile lit her face, she reached her hands out towards me

“come here my love” she told me, I grinned and walked over to her, reaching down and lifting her up before turning and sitting down myself, letting her settle in my lap.

She grinned and kissed me before asking

“where were you?” I grinned and shrugged

“just round Sam’s, he wanted to discuss something with a few of us” I told her, she nodded and asked as she wriggled getting comfy

“oh what was that?”

“he asked if we would consider stopping changing now so we could be with our imprints” I said casually. Analeigh stopped moving as she stared at me

“what?” I nodded and watched as she chewed her lip before running a hand through her hair then scratching her wrist, all things I knew to be nervous movements of hers. I reached out and took her hand stopping the scratching, bringing the hand to my mouth and placing a kiss there.

She cleared her throat and asked

“so what did you say?” I smiled

“I said that I would discuss it with you first” I told her, a smile came to her lips

“that was very nice of you, so what do you want to do?” she asked, I sighed as I looked down at her wrist

“I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you, grow old and have a family and the idea is very tempting...”

“But you have a responsibility and you want to make sure everything is ok before you give it up” she finished for me. I sighed and nodded as I gave her a wan smile

“yeah, do you hate me for it?” I asked, she chuckled and shook her head as she took my face between her small hands

“you care about your responsibilities, you want to look after your friends, why would I hate you for that? I admire you for it and even applaud you, my lovely caring man” she said then kissed me softly. I returned the kiss with just as much gentleness before pulling away and smiling at her

“ok so now that’s decided I have something for you, but you have to promise me some things first” I told her.

Analeigh looked at me curiously as she straightened slightly

“ok what do I have to promise?” she asked, I smiled

“well you have to promise to love me forever”

“always” she replied, I grinned and kissed her before continuing

“you have to promise that you’ll never leave me and that we’ll be a family one day and that when we’re old and grey we’ll be sitting outside in our rockers with grandkids all around us then when we’re on our way out we’ll go together right next to each other on our bed” I told her. I could see the tears in her eyes as she nodded and hugged me tightly

“oh of course I promise all of that, you’re my Paul” she said as tears finally leaked from her eyes.

I smiled and pulled the bracelet from my pocket

“ok good, then do you also promise to wear this and never take it off?” I asked, a small gasp came from her and she grinned at me

“yes, I’ll wear it always” she told me, I grinned and tied it around her wrist so it wouldn’t come off then brought it to my mouth and kissed it before saying

“forever” in return.

Analeigh looked at me and asked

“do you promise to do all those things for me?” I nodded and she continued after a pause “and do you promise that in three years or less you’ll stop changing” I grinned at the hesitancy with which she asked it and bent to kiss her again before nodding once more

“of course I promise that, I love you” I told her, she smiled

“love you too”
