XXXVI: Confusion
Part XXXVI: Confusion
I walked slowly out of the room.
Detective Linsey was no where in sight
I paced around a bit
trying to find her
My mind wasn't working right
like a scratched CD
repeating the same information
unable to put the last hour together
When I finally left
my brain hurt like the beginnings of a migraine
And by the time I got home
it was getting dark.
One of those giant u-haul was park next door
crouching unsuccessfully
like an enormous elephant.
Maybe I was lucky and they'd have already gone home.
But god knows I'm not.
I heard them talking as I opened the back door,
my dad's voice and an oddly musical laugh
I tried to sneak past them with no luck.
"There she is, Laurel come in here"
I slunk in
Dustin was smiling and putting on his honor student behavior
and Michael sat there looking bored
Between them sat a beautiful woman Laurel had never seen before
this must be their mother?
