Missing Eternity

Part VI: In The Woods
The darkness thickened
Branches blocked out the moon
like an enormous curtain
wet leaves slapped my face
and caught in my hair
I somehow managed not to slam into any trees
I lost a shoe somewhere back
oh well not going back now
my foot caught on a root
I went down
Hard

I lay there
unable to move
gasping for breath
a small sob breaking thru my lips
I was shaking so bad
I stood and but fell
thank God I did
Because very close to me I heard a voice
"Where is she, I'll kill her"

I bit my lip to keep from screaming
so hard I tasted blood
It was a boys voice
young
and thick with malice
Then a second older voice
"Quiet, she can't have gone far"
the younger snorted "
"Far? she could be halfway across the county by now!"
after a minute they moved away
I was alone in the darkness once more
