Two brothers and a friend

Three whole long days had pasted and nothing. Not one single, smirk, comment or wink from any one of them.
“Maybe Rhys believed you when you denied it.” Shannon suggested from her sun lounger. We were all in Kate’s humongous garden, soaking up rays in bikinis and sun glasses. Shannon was lying on a sun lounger, Kate was floating on a lilo in the middle of her massive outdoor pool which I was sat on the edge of, letting my legs soak in the cool water. Did I ever mention that Kate’s rich? I mean really rich! As in two pools, a gym, home cinema room, en-suites in every bedroom, and a house big enough to get lost in rich (I have got lost her house before, it wasn’t fun). Her dad owns an internet page where big companies pay big bucks to get to advertise on it.
“Fat chance. You didn’t see the look on his face” I sighed, lying down on the warm stoning around the pool, my legs still in the water.
“Or maybe,” Kate said lazily “Rhys thought 'Damn if I want to get with Kate I had best not
hurt one of her best friends, 'cause then that sexy beast won't like totally dig me, like I so totally dig her!'"
"You wish"
"I do actually" She sighed, “Maybe he just forgot.”
“Yeah, they have been sitting exams this week right? Functional skills or something?” Shannon leaped onto this idea. I thought about it for a moment… it did make sense.
“Yeah, he just forgot… yeah.” I laughed out loud, all the worry and anxiety I had had these last few days lifted off me and I suddenly felt like I could breathe again. “Hey gay girl, you actually thought of a good idea for once!”
“Screw. You. Chubby chest!” I heard Kate half heartedly flick some water which missed me completely.
Silence fell among us again and I felt the warmth of the sun making me drowsy. It was a while before Shannon said, “could anyone else stay like this forever?”
“Hell yeah” I murmured and there was a sleepy groan of agreement from Kate.
“WATER FIGHT!!”
“ARHHHH!”
I lent back up and looked towards the back door of the house. Liam and Ryan were running out holding water pistols and bombs, heading straight for the pool.
“Don’t you dare Liam!” Kate began trying to paddle herself to an edge of the pool so she could get out before the two boys dived in. She failed. Liam jumped shouting “TIDAL WAVE!” and the large ripples spread out causing Kate’s lilo to shake and she fell in. I laughed so hard, as she came back above the water drenched, that I thought I might die. She leaped forward and jumped on Liam’s back causing them to both fall faces first into the water.
“Hello” I looked down beside me into the pool. Ryan had a waved and then threw a water bomb directly directly at me. I screamed as ice cold water exploded on my chest. I heard him laugh maliciously before I jumped up and went to hide behind Shannon.
“Oh no you don’t!” Shannon said. Ryan pulled himself out of the pool and aimed another bomb at both of us this time. I hit Shannon square in the face and I heard her shout, “CAYLA YOU BITCH!” as I ran of it. Ryan followed and threw bombs at my back. I headed for the pool and jumped in without giving it a moments thought. I knew the spray must have hit Kate and Liam as they both started splashing me as soon as I was out from under the water. Ryan and Shannon soon joined in too.
“Cookies!” We all stopped splashing and looked up at Kate and Liam’s mum who was holding a plate literally filled with giant cookies. Liam was the first to reach them and went straight for a double chocolate one. His mum placed them on the table in the centre of ring of sun loungers. I took a rainbow cookie and sat down on one of the loungers.
“I love cookies” Ryan said with his mouth full.
“Here here!” I agreed flicking crumbs off of my lap.
Ryan turned to look at me from three loungers over. “Yeah you can tell you like them!” He and Liam burst out laughing.
“Uh excuse me?” I said just as both Kate and Shannon through the rest of their cookies at him. “Are you calling me big?”
“Yup.”
“Well you know what they say about big girls…” Shannon began
“Ugh, no?”
“That their fat?” Liam laughed.
“Nope! Big girl’s you are beautiful!” Shannon started singing and Kate tried to do the beat but she failed and we all ended up laughing.
“Well clearly Mika did not know Cayla when he wrote that song.” The boys laughed and high fived each other.
“At least Cayla doesn’t look like a parrot!” Kate blurted out.
Ryan turned on her “What? Does it look like I have a beak to you?” Kate froze and looked at me. I could tell the three of us were all thinking the same thing.
“There’s nothing wrong with having a beak nose…” Shannon began
“Yeah, it could mean that your great ancestors shifted into the form of a parrot!” Kate said excitedly.
“Urh, twilight freak” I said, earning massive evils. “Maybe it’s a special family thing and every great male in the family has a beak nose though.” I saw Kate mouth ‘great’ at Shannon and they supressed giggles.
“I haven’t got a beak nose!” Ryan damn near shouted.
“Alright, alright calm down” Kate said reaching for another cookie.
“Jeez, don’t mess with the year nines” I laughed.
“Yeah, you best not forget it peanut head.” Ryan grinned.
“What the hell?!” I exclaimed, but instead of answering Ryan pointed at me and then over exaggerated the shape of a peanut around his head, causing everyone but me to laugh.
“I have not got a peanut head.” I tried to glare at him but he gave me a cheeky grin and I couldn’t help but laugh with everyone else. I lent down for another cookie as Ryan reached down for the same one. Our hands touched just before either could get it though. I pulled back and straightened up looking at him.
“Ha!” He said grabbing the cookie and shoving half of it in his mouth.
“Nice…” Kate said with a look of utter degust.
Ryan looked at her and then said, with a mouth full of cookie, "Yeitsvernicatually."
"what the hell?!" Shannon exclaimed.
The bashful expression on Ryan's face caused us all to burst out laughing and I couldn't help but think to myself how fun the year nines actually are. They're so easy to be around, and you just can't help being yourself. Especially with Ryan, but then he's also really cute... I smiled on the inside at this thought. Oh shit! Quickly, I whipped my phone out from my bag which I had dumped on the table earlier and wrote;

To: Kate
To: Shannon
Message: I think I might like Ryan too…

I hit sent and then put my phone away waiting for them to get the message. Kate got her vibrating phone of the table as Shannon grabbed hers from her pocket. They both looked up at me with the same utterly shocked wide eyes.
