We've Got It All Figured Out... For Now

Words Couldn't Come Out Of Me

Today, Todd had the bright idea of bringing Mason and I to his spot to watch him ride. Mason’s never really been around a dirt bike. He hasn’t even properly ridden the one Todd got him yet. But… it’s sexy when Todd rides. I wasn’t going to complain one bit.

“You should have brought your bike, Mase. You could have hit the jumps with me,” Todd spoke up as we were driving.

“No… he’s only one. He can barely walk ten steps by himself. He can’t ride a bike… let alone a dirt bike,” I spoke up, sending Todd a look.

He just smiled at me innocently, causing me to roll my eyes. This man… I don’t know what I’m going to do with him.

Once we pulled up to his spot, a few of his friends were already here. I got out to grab Mason, but once I got to the door, Todd was already pulling him out. I smiled at the two as I followed Todd to the bed of his truck. He put down the tailgate and gently placed Mason there. My little boy watched Todd intently as he started unloading his bike.

“Wide!” Mason squealed once Todd’s Honda was on its stand.

“Is Toddie Bear going to ride?” I smiled at my son.

“I think he wants to,” Todd smirked while tugging his jersey over his head.

“He is waiting at least another year,” I told Todd while crossing my arms across my chest.

“Aw, mommy,” Todd pouted while bending down next to Mason who was pouting now too. How do they do that?

“Get your cute butt out of here and go ride,” I shot at him, smacking his rear to get him going.

He let out a chuckle before he reached over to kiss me quickly and the hopped onto his bike. I sat with Mason on my lap on Todd’s tailgate as the bikes zoomed around his dirt park. All through the day, Mason squealed and yelled for Woddie. It was adorable.

A few of Todd’s friends stopped over to say hi to Mason and I. Obviously, since Todd and I have been together a while, Mason and I have gotten to know a few of his buddies. Mason likes Jackson Strong though. I think he just thinks his accent’s funny. It’s cute though. Those two could talk for hours.

“When’s the little bloke riding?” Jacko asked, poking Mason’s tummy gently.

“In a few years,” I told him.

“Soon,” Todd spoke up as he walked over.

“You are going to get in trouble,” I shot at him, making a smile come over him.

“I think he likes being in trouble,” Jacko chuckled.

Todd’s little grin grew as he came over and hooked his arms around me. I shot him a look, but he just kept right on smiling and left a kiss on my cheek.

“Love you, baby,” he said cutely.

Before I could get another word out, my phone rang. Todd tried to reach into my pocket and take it from me. He’s being a little butthead today. But I got my phone first and answered it without looking to see who was calling. But once I did, my brother’s frantic voice filled my ears.

“Ky, is Kirstie and Josh ok?” he asked.

“Um… I would think so. I haven’t talked to them today,” I told him with my features wrinkled up.

“Mom called me, because she couldn’t get a hold of you,” he went on, having a hard time with words.

“Keegan, what’s going on?” I asked, losing patients with him.

“They all were in a car accident,” he said, making everything in my body go numb.

I even dropped my phone. Words couldn’t come out of me. Todd quickly bent down and grabbed my phone before talking to my brother. I don’t know what they said. Everything was just one big fuzzy noise.

Eventually, Todd changed and got Mason and I back into his truck. I would assume that he was driving us to the hospital. I know I didn’t know how exactly their accident happened. But… those are my best friends. I don’t want anything to happen to them.
