We've Got It All Figured Out... For Now

”MOMMY! DADDY! WAKE UP!” Emma shouted while jumping up and down on our bed.

“What?” Josh groggily asked.

”IT’S DISNEYLAND TIME!” she squealed.

“Honey, just because we get there early doesn’t mean it’s going to open an earlier,” He chuckled.

Josh slowly got up and I followed his lead. After I got ready I got Christian ready while Josh helped Emma with her clothes. About an hour later we were in line for the Finding Nemo submarines.

“Mommy look it’s nemo!” Emma buzzed.

“Did you give her some sugar this morning?” Josh chuckled while pointing at our hyper daughter.

“No,” I giggled. “She is my daughter, she’s just excited.”

“So are you,” He laughed.

“So…” I trailed off while sticking my tongue out at him.

“Dada!” Christian piped up while holding his arms out to Josh. He picked our little boy up and held him in his tattooed arms.

“Do you think Daddy did good yesterday?” Josh asked while poking Christian’s stomach.

“Dada speedy,” Christian beamed.

“Daddy is very speedy,” I smiled while hugging both of them while Emma ran around us. “That’s why he won.”

“I’m so pumped right now. I’m still excited,” Josh grinned so brightly.

“I’m so insanely proud of you,” I cooed while kissing his cheek. “You’re getting kisses for it when we get home too.”

“I’m fine with that,” He chuckled.

“I love you,” I smiled at him.

“I wuv you Momma and Dada,” Christian squealed from the security of Josh’s arms.

“We love you, Chris,” Josh cooed while kissing his soft cheek.

“I love all of you!” Emma shouted while still running her circles around us.

I scooped her up and gave her lots of kisses as she squealed and giggled. We only had to wait in line a little while longer before we got on the ride. Emma was about to burst from excitement when we were inside.

“I love Disneyworld!” Emma shouted after we got off the ride.

I was holding Christian on my hip and Josh was giving Emma a piggy back ride while we made our way to the next ride. My cell phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket and said hello.

“Hey Kirstie, it’s Ky,” She started.

“Hi Kylee, what’s up?” I asked.

“Um well…how are you guys?” She stuttered. “Are you having fun in Disneyworld.”

“Oh yeah, definitely. Emma’s acting like me,” I giggled.

“Two hyper girls in one park,” Kylee laughed. “I heard Josh won last his race though.”

“Yeah he did AMAZING!” I squealed.

“Well tell the greaser congrats for me,” She said.

“I will,” I smiled. “But how are you? What’s going on?”

“I went and saw Todd…” Ky trailed off.

“And?” I prodded.

”He had filed for divorce,” She softly told me.

At that moment I was speechless. I seriously had no words. Josh could tell something was up because he stopped walking and was looking at me. Being the sweetheart he is, he put Emma down and held one of her hands while he wrapped the other around my waist and let me lean into him.

“Did you sign it?” I asked.

“Yeah,” She croaked. “I feel like it’s the right thing though.”

We exchanged a few more words before hanging up.

“Josh we have to go home. Todd and Kylee are getting a divorce and I need to be there for her,” I said frantically while putting Christian in his stroller that Emma was playing with.

He wrapped me up in a big hug and gently rubbed my back and said, “honey, I know you’re upset but we can’t do anything for them if we did go back right now. It’s just going to make them feel more weird about this. Let’s just finish out our few days here, enjoy ourselves and then talk to them and everything when we get back.”

“Okay,” I sighed.

I married such a smart guy, he’s totally my comfort. I couldn’t imagine being with anyone else. I just hope that Kylee is making the right choice and choosing to be with the guy who can be that for her.
