We've Got It All Figured Out... For Now

You Made A Little Heart Breaker

“It’s so weird not having Mason here during the day,” I pouted while plopping down on the couch next to Tanner, who wasn’t testing today since I took the day off.

“More time for us though,” he grinned, pulling me closer to him.

I returned his smile before kissing his lips, wanting to leave a loving one, but Jayden had other plans. He jumped into my lap, seeming… not to like what Tanner and I were doing. This has been happening quite a bit lately.

“And of course Jayden,” Tanner sighed.

“Do you miss Mason too?” I asked, pouting down at my little boy.

“Yeah,” Jayden quietly replied before resting his head on my shoulder so that he wasn’t facing Tanner.

I gave Tanner a little look that made him sigh. Of course Mason’s fine with what Tanner and I have going on, but Jayden’s really apprehensive of Tanner now. Hopefully, this is something he’ll get over soon.

Later on in the day though, Kirstie came over. This kind of caught me off guard. She hasn’t ventured over to Tanner’s since we’ve been back together. It so made my day though.

She told me she was just bored. Josh was off practicing, leaving her and Christian in the house by themselves. This gave Jayden someone to play with though. It was adorable.

“It’s weird not having Emma around,” Kirstie spoke up.

“I know… it makes me feel old though. My baby’s in school already,” I pouted, but still smiled.

“Well, I’m sure Tanner’s already surpassed that feeling,” Kirstie had to snicker.

“Nice to know the age jokes haven’t stopped,” Tanner chuckled.

“I think you have a few more grey hairs since I last saw you too,” she went on.

“Aw, baby we’ll dye those out tonight,” I had to add, running my fingers through his thick hair.

“Jayden, they’re being mean to me,” Tanner pouted at Jayden on the floor.

My little boy replied by giggling at him, making Kirstie and I laugh as well. This is how most of the day went… picking on Tanner. Kirstie left to go pick up Emma from school. Tanner said he’d go get Mason so that I could stay her with Jayden.

It was boring though. Jayden was doing his little toddler thing with his toys. Once I heard the door open, I got up to welcome my little boy home. Usually he comes running to my arms, but today… he didn’t. He looked upset.

“Aw, what’s wrong with my Mason?” I asked, walking over to him to give him a big hug.

“He’s having girl issues,” Tanner spoke up.

“Isn’t that a daddy issue?” I smirked over at him.

“I tried!” he replied… with a little smile teasing its way across his lips.

“Well, you can tell mommy what’s wrong,” I cooed at him before I picked him up and sat on the couch with him, sitting him in my lap.

“Emma’s mad at me,” he mumbled.

“Aw, why, baby?” I asked while rubbing his back.

“She said I wasn’t playing with her,” he replied.

“Well, did you play with her today?” I asked.

“I played with Gabby and Nathan today. But I play with Emma every day though. She said I don’t like her anymore,” he pouted.

“Aw, honey,” I cooed and he nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck. “It’ll be ok. Maybe you just hurt her feelings. You should try and do something nice for her,” I went on.

He looked back at me and nodded his head before he slid down to go up to his room. I heard the door slam and sent a look over at Tanner. He replied by giving me and smiled and then sat next to me, coiling his arms around my middle.

“He’s only four and half and having wifey problems,” he sighed teasingly.

“You made a little heart breaker, Tanner,” I shot back playfully.

“Me?” he asked through a chuckle.

“Yes, you, you little heart throb,” I giggled from the face he was making.

“Do I make your heart throb?” he asked lowly into my ear.

“Yes, very much… especially when you do that,” I smiled, not caring that I was building his ego.

“You do the same thing to me… and you don’t even have to do anything,” he countered, leaving soft kisses on my neck.

Well, I sure hope Mason and Emma can work out their little issue. I hate to say this, but… it’s kind of cute. How adorable would it be if those two grew up to get married? I always thought it would be the cutest thing ever… other than Tanner that is. But… I guess only time will tell. Until then, Tanner needs to teach him how to notch the heartthrob level down just a tad bit.
